I don’t know if anyone knows what’s the issue, I have a 5502 PS1 which is still working but when I try to boot up a game, it goes de “PS” screen and then freezes and the text under “PlayStation” is all messed up and unreadable. Is it the optical drive ?

I wanted World Cup 98 for Christmas as a kid, and I got this. I was initially sceptical (rightfully so!), fired it up, played a game, hated it and then cried. I’m still pissed off now. Every time I see a video/footage of it, it brings back deep resentment. I despise anyone, and everyone involved in producing this hideous dumpster fire of a game.

Pes 19 is the best about IA u need to do tactics abd to not hold x the most of the time require thiking i play legend i win AI if u press x or hold it u will trigger the spam Ai will score against anyway there is tutorial about this the best challanging game ever is 19 i love it more then pes 5

I have one of these.. the ps2 shows the red stand by light, the t.v dont power up... but power is being delivered to the unit itself.. anyone know if this is fixable?

it doesn't look like 1080. is it actually rendering the 3D scene at 1080 or just outputting at 1080?

This Sony TV seems really awesome, and I also really wish Sony would have released this TV in the US many years ago since I would have really loved to have one of these TVs myself too.

If I personally ever had this TV for my gaming setup and all in my bedroom, I would have each of my following electronic devices and game consoles connected to these particular ports on this TV for the ultimate gaming setup in my own opinion: HDMI 1 (ARC): An HDMI switch box with the cable box connected to it for cable TV including my Sony Blu-ray/DVD disc player that I have as well as my Roku streaming box/device. HDMI 2: Another HDMI switch box with my PS4, PS5, and Wii U game consoles connected. HDMI 3: Another HDMI switch box with my PS3 game console connected (my main PS3 system which is a 160 GB PS3 Slim console) as well as my Xbox 360 game console and the dock for my Nintendo Switch system in order to play my Switch on the TV. HDMI 4: Another HDMI switch box with my other PS3 game console connected (which is actually one of the original models of the PS3 with PS2 backwards compatibility since I also have a 60 GB PS3 that plays PS2 games which still works fine so far for the time being) including my PlayStation TV (PS TV) system that I have, and I would also leave one other HDMI port on the HDMI switch box open for something else just in case like the NES Classic Edition game system that I also have or something perhaps. Component Video: I would actually use this input for my original Wii game console that I have which is even backwards compatible with Nintendo GameCube games and accessories, and also since I already have a set of Component cables to use for the Wii. Composite Video (which are the yellow, white, and red cable inputs on the side of the TV below the side HDMI ports): I would use this input for my AV Composite Video switch box that I have that I use to connect my old VCR/DVD combo player unit to including some of my other older video game consoles that I own such as PS1, PS2, N64, original Xbox, Nintendo GameCube, etc. Even though this TV also already has a built-in PS2 system, I would actually still hook up my standalone PS2 console to this TV to use just in case if I ever needed to use it for some reason. That's what I would use this TV for to have all of my devices hooked up to and that would be so awesome too, especially being able to use everything all on one TV that way.

I should tell everyone who owns a phat model this very important thing to keep it running: Hack it and install WebMan IMMEDIATELY! In WebMan, you can adjust the fan curves to keep the CPU/GPU at a constant 63-68C to keep it within acceptable temperature ranges so it doesn't overheat and YLOD. If you use yours with some frequency, I'd say this is almost a requirement. Also, don't do those mods where they drill fans into the case. The cooling on these consoles are very deliberately designed to have optimal air flow. These mods will only disrupt that and make it potentially ruin hotter.

The Verbatim you have isn't the same as the real Verbatim You have the "Extra protection" discs but they're actually made by CMC Magnetics and this is why you have issues with it. If you'd use AZO CD-Rs you won't have any problems with them. However you can't see the labels on the AZO CDs because they aren't white

The SCPH-750xx (first revision of the PS2 Slim) uses a form of emulation when playing PS1 games. The SCPH-700xx and anything before it basically has an entire PS1 built-in with the hardware so no emulation is done

Nothing beats the Logitech Cordless Action Controller. It's not worth even bothering with anything else. Bad deadzones is immediately a disqualification for these knock-off DS2s. Life is too short to put up with bad rubbish. Get the Logitech, or just use a wired controller. Official DS2 controllers have less input lag than any wireless solution (beacuse of course they do), have the best feel, and have the strongest Force Feedback. And you don't have to worry about buying or charging batteries ever. Honestly, I don't even use my Logitech anymore when I'm at my CRT & PS2.

The quality of the burner you use makes a huge difference, only 1 out of my 5 burners can burn something the ps1 can read at any speed.

I see that u have to turn the left side of the controller counter-clockwise to steer left and clockwise to steer right. And it's analog steering.

This would be my very preferred way to give N64 games a GBC Connectivity, and vice-versa.

I have also good experience with following Discs: Philips CDR74 650MB Premium Silver (AZO blue) the games on this discs work really good or old Verbatim Disc DataLIfePlus with AZO. Other Discs which isn't the best but works still good is Discs from Real wich labeled with Real Quality. The new Discs from Verbatim, Itenso, Philips works good but only if the Laser on the PS1 is still working good or very good. But with the time the laser will be weaker... so i wouldn't recommend doing this only in few games you can like Soulblade it works not bad with new Discs Surprisingly. But other game slike Tony Hawks Skateboarding/Pro Skater or Need For Speed 4 High Stakes it doesn't work good... because skipping musics and sometime it stops reading... I have never tried Taiyo Yuden CD-R for PS1 game sbut for PS2 games and it doesn't work for me i have burned the discs with the slowest writespeed of 4x for my Burner and it doesn't still works.... But verbatim DVD-R works with 4x Speed not bad:) but you have to buy the 25 Discs spindle not buy the 50 because they are from crap factory.... But the best Solution for PS2 is to buy the SATA Adapter to PS2 and SSD Drive and install Free Memory Card Boot on the PS2 Memory Card and you can play the games on your Hard Drive and it loading so fast with SSD i can recoomend this. I will try with Taiyo Yuden too for PS1 I hope it will work well. Which burner you have use? Which Write Speed? Some Says that uts the best to burn PS1 games with 2x Speed what do you say? I have burned with 4x Speed its the slowest for my Burner. Maybe i should tray older burner from older PC maybe i will have luck and i can get 2x speed

Since you've made this video, Tonyhax, a safe disc swap method requiring a set of hacked game save files, starting off with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2/3/4, that'll tell you to swap the disc once you get to a certain point in a game, and its Alex-Free fork, Tonyhax International, and FreePSXBoot, which works similarly to Free McBoot on the PS2 (which you've mentioned in your own reply here). Also, "Verbatim" is pronounced as "ver-bay-tim" here.

The cheap ones are as bad as the SCART/RCA 3-prong composite-to-HDMI converters that one can get for circa £8 (2023 prices): the colour definition is terrible, with inaccurate colours, and a lack of differentiation between darker colours, to the point where you cannot play games with a darker colour palette
