I do that for many years. Also very nice when you make paper lanterns from ordinary paper an brush it with oil after assembling. Use an electric tea light and you have a great gift and beautiful decoration matching your colour scheme

TIP: if you want to get rid of excess oil, you can put it in between 2 pieces of kitchen towel paper and then run it through a big shot or any other embossing machine. :)

Thanks for the tip. I was thinking of that and scrolled down and saw your comment. Lol. Does it leave the paper feeling oily after? Would I be able to cut and/or glue the oiled paper afterwards?

What a brilliant idea! Thanks so much. In the interests of experimentation, I've just done one print on 80gsm typing paper (the thin cheap stuff you get anywhere) and used baby oil. Worked like a charm, and not much greasy residue either. I have a dye based inkjet printer (HP) and it didn't affect the ink at all. The paper also feels lovely. I then tried another print with glycerine - which worked very differently - much harder to apply, I had to really work it in. It soaked through to the front of the paper as well, so when turned over I didn't need so much. However, although it brightened the colours, it also removed the black a bit, so the cotton wool was pretty dirty at the end although the print looked absolutely fine. There was a fair bit of residue grease as well (if I try this again I might try diluting it a bit) and the paper is very floppy. Although it might feel better when completely dry. So all-in-all, a succes. 10 out 10 for the baby oil, and probably a 6 out of 10 for the glycerine.

i dont like the results of glycerine , i tried it and didnt like it lol. but glycerine makes nices faux leather things. if u use the oil after it drys and u wipe it well cover it with a medium like pva glue or mat medium or everything u have.thank you so very much for your kind words and for the time u took to write me a comment Susie. tfw hugs

So is this card stock? Are you printing the images BEFORE the oil or AFTER? And didn’t you say in one of the comments to seal after complete drying to preview oily transfers to other items? Thank you so much! Excited to try this😊😊😊😊
@AristiMoorjackie
@AristiMoorjackie 5 жыл бұрын
this is simple copy paper (printer paper) , first you print and you put oil after ( it doesnt effect the ink). first you will cut the paper in the size you want ,( if you sew it you have to do it before you seal it) and after you have to seal with a medium , i use wood glue , it cause the oil will transfer to other papers.

yes i was in her livestream remember we were telling what other oils she can use, but no this is something i saw over a year ago from an other channel dont remeber where the are many tutorials out there. if u dont have a heat gun u can use and iron and put it between 2 papers while u iron it so they will absorve the extra oil.but if u dont put too much oil u are ok.thank you for your support Kiki.

I apologize,i have to make a new video with updates about this technique. I had the same issue with you so i found out that the only way is to seal it with a medium after ,i use wood glue but you can use what you have. I wrote it in the comments many times. After i cut it in the shape and size i want i seal it and let it dry naturally.try it and tell me what you think Sharon.tfw

I wonder about the long term effects these papers will eventually have upon other papers in a project. The paper remains oil infused no matter how much you work to remove the excess oil, right? If you bind it in a book or include it in a paper project, won’t the adjacent papers eventually absorb some of the oil? Also, oil is a food substance. Might not these papers also attract bugs, over and above the natural bug attraction of cellulose? Having expressed these concerns, I have to say the affect is indeed lovely. I may have to try this technique anyway.
@AristiMoorjackie
@AristiMoorjackie 6 жыл бұрын
hello Vgudorf . yes if you put it in a project other papers can absorb oil thats why i said to use heat and leave over night between two papers so they will absorb the extra oil. thats why u put just a drop of oil and wipe really well.plus u can use baby powder to absorb the extra oil and wipe it away.nope it wont attract bugs at least the olive oil never did in my proojects. do coffee papers attract bugs?yes the papers after have a cool cranchy look. just give it a try tfw
