Love the video, mostly because you were so tickled with the fact it worked, lol. I'm glad you mentioned you used an inkjet printer, so I'll be giving this a try. Back in the day, over 40 years ago when I was in high school, we did a project in my art class, a calligraphy/drawing and covered it with Linseed Oil. It does the same thing only yellows with age, I still have my drawing. Thanks for sharing!! 💜💜💜

Vellum is prepared animal skin or "membrane", typically used as a material for writing on. Parchment is another term for this material, and if vellum is distinguished from this, it is by its being made from calfskin, as opposed to that from other animals,[1] or otherwise being of higher quality.[2] Vellum is prepared for writing or printing on, to produce single pages, scrolls, codices or books. The word is borrowed from Old French vélin 'calfskin', from the Latin word vitulinum 'made from calf'.[3]

Glad you reminded me of this! Did a few pages when I first saw it, but I have tons of vellum that a friend gave me in all kinds of patterns and forgot about it. Nina Ribena has a video where she irons wax beads on paper to create vellum and that looks wonderful although I haven't tried it. Love the tags. Think the eye lash trim looks great, but just do what works for you! You have great instincts. Love the black and white page you did towards the end, too! WOW per usual. TFS. 🥰💐🙏💌

I am still watching 😊 I have seen this technique a long time ago, you could also use book pages or even a very light colour cooking oil as oil is oil. The ink doesn't move as it is a water based and oil and water doesn't mix. Great video Dee.

You're turned out amazing! I have a liquid coconut oil that's half mineral oil probably. And I've used that and it smells so good. I think just about any oil that doesn't go bad would work. Thank you so much Dee, I really really enjoyed watching you create this faux vellum. The definition of vellum is: fine parchment made originally from Calf skin. I’m sure it’s not made from Calf skin nowadays, I couldn’t find the answer to that though. It’s a great idea, thank you so much Dee and Betty. I did see once someone using candle wax to make a faux vellum though. But, I really really love ❤️ your results Dee. I’ve no doubt whatsoever that you will have cornered the market on faux vellum before to long!!!!!!!!! I really really love ❤️ your enthusiastic too. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
