We must also account for 2 things-- the sound flow being different with the the video platform-- And also when there is time set, even an artist will remind you behind the scenes "please don't let me blabber on-- please be sure to keep me in check & on time-- so I can announce my son's record and promo" This is the journalist job-- I don't believe she meant so maliciously.. .

@@SayconTalks Whenever something is expelled for public consumption in media, you can't tell people how to react to something. It's the same thing when watching tv shows or playing a game, we all find it extremely annoying when you constantly have to sit through ads that pop-up every now and then. I trust there are ethics to follow in journalism when publishing anything to the public. I do understand though that she didn't mean it to be malicious.

This is probably one of the best iconic conversations on “No Filter with Naomi.” I really wish Naomi would allow him to elaborate on the truthful history about colonialism and its impact (although there’s only so many hours an interview can go on for 😉). This is very important to understand why in order for us to move forward; hence, the resistance against Fela who was the sole voice speaking up at that time. Fela’s music is magical - the instrumental orchestration is complex and the lyrics are dynamic... timeless and intense. Yes! Women were kings and chiefs in Africa before colonialism came.... Queen Amina who rode into war alongside her brother is a perfect example. Thank you for clarifying the matriarch system of African cultures Femi which a lot of people don’t know about 🙏🏽👌🏾

Naomi keeps cutting in. Pls allow him to tell the story. When we were young, we lived near Fela's home on Western Avenue near Abahlti Barracks. Yes, the army barracks wasn't far from Fela's home & shrine. That army fear Fela as hospital songs disturbed the rule army plus their civilian cohorts. I mean Abiolas ITT was just behind Fela's house and he sing "ITT, international Tief'Tief". Fela did not like Abiola for reasons that he felt he was a muse for the military of Obassnjo. Fela's sound was initially highlife ; then turned to jazz ( with instruments) & yapess!

I love this! Great interview. The indomitable and incredibly talented family. Afrobeat forever. Ara ra ra raaa! O ro ro ro roooo!! You've been to shrine so you know our signature chant. (Smile) Fella's was "everybody say yeah yeah" and we go "yeah yeaaah!" Just pls let the interviewee speak out his points esp when he is making some great revelations. Only interject when he/she is rambling to keep him/her on topic. If time is the issue anytime you get a thrilling interview with a star such as this, you can serialise it into parts. Fans would love it and rush back for more, trust me. But, above all, thank you for this. You are both living iconic legends. You, queen, blazed the trail in the modelling world when racism was rife in there and there was no woman of colour in the world of runway modelling. You shattered that and became the best. Till today. God knows what thorny oaths you had to navigate to emerge as best and highest paid model in the world. Someone on your crew should PLS!! stand in as the interviewer soon and interview you for this show too! We want you to empower us with your story also. At 3.50, Femi Kuti made a mistake, it was in 1997, not 1977 when his beautiful sister (Sola Kuti) died 2 months after Fela's death.

Why is Femi being hesitant about saying the Nigerian government was trying to shut his father up for exposing their corrupt ways. Fela was among a tiny percentage, if not the only Nigerian musician who sang about the actual happenings in Nigeria and its traditional culture. Fela never battled with creativity. He was already aware of the tricks of the global musician industry. This is why Fela cared less about a damn Grammy. Femi is keeping it light in this interview.

Femi is a very captivating speaker, I must say, However, I must ask, Which Law provides that when Someone dies a case cannot continue in his name? Who was Fela's lawyer? His next of kin could carry on the case. It's only a criminal case that terminates with the accused's death. Now you would have been caught by the statute of Limitation

Yes Late Fela kuti is so great beyond music or musician . He saw lots future damages of bad Government in Nigeria. He rreally fought Nigeria Government. Nigeria Government is now after an able Leader. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu because he is Fighting for they freedom of Biafrans from Bad Government Nigeria.

Good to see Naomi, but she was not that good with the interview, she did not allow vital information to be let out. She was not listening to answers in order to ask more questions from what Femi was saying. She didn't know Abiola, she didn't know 9ja history she interrupted many times.

Naomi should try to listen more, you ask questions and you don't patiently listen to the answers so you can learn more, she's more focused on making sure she ask all the questions on her lists.

This would have been an exceptional interview, except that the host frequently interrupted Femi. Also, maybe Naomi should have had a little background knowledge of Fela's struggles and fights with various Nigerian governments. The contents of Fela's music and what he stood for were the backbone of the illegal activities of the Nigerian government (military and police) against one of the greatest Africans of modern times.
