She never got to the point as to whether it was closed kinetic change or open kinetic change to strengthen the femoral neck, it sounded like she was going to tell us, but didn’t, lol.
@danielanderson20419 күн бұрын
Listen at 2:40 minutes thru 3 minutes & She said Closed Kinetic chain exercises are best to strengthen the Femor neck. A recent very small study in the Journal of Physical Therapy Science (6) looked specifically at whether closed kinetic chain or open kinetic chain exercises helped the neck of femur and specifically increase femoral neck bone density. I define, below, closed kinetic chain exercises and open kinetic chain exercises. The study concluded that patients should practice closed kinetic chain exercises. A closed kinetic chain exercise is an exercise where one of the supporting limbs is fixed in place. An example would be when you are doing an active exercise but keep standing and maintain contact with the floor. A squat, a lunge, or stepping and you have that foot contact to the ground - that is a closed kinetic chain. I tried to add the link to her page where she talks about this but it won't let me post it... Beverly

Thank you so much for sharing your expertise with us, Margaret! I have osteoporosis but don't want to chance the serious side effects of the various pharmacological interventions, so I've been exercising.

Hello - I was recently diagnosed with -2.9 T osteoporosis on my femur neck. I very much appreciate your videos. In this video, you talk about kinetic connection and squats, but I'm not sure how many reps and how many times a day I should do this. Thanks so much. Sarah

I just got off a severe profile and crutches 2 days ago for a stress fracture in my Left femoral neck. I have an 'Army Combat Fitness Test' soon, what are some exercises that I can do to build strength. I tried pull ups today, but it make me ach in my hips. Most of my pain now is in my groin area. I feel so healthy, but lifting the weights aggravate my groin area. I've been doing research and found your channel. There's no group for people recovering from hip fractures. What other exercises can I do without weights?
@tanm74483 жыл бұрын
I was in the same situation as you once. Ultimately the provider at the army clinic referred me to physical therapy that was still part of the clinic, but the therapist there reviewed my mri and recommended that I have a preventative surgery because the fracture was on the top side of the neck. I was able to practically completely recover after that. Of course I was on a profile for the better part of six months after but I would two months after surgery my hip was good as new. In hindsight I would say that I should have done more weight bearing exercises like squats and leg lifts. My thighs and calves were developed so barely wanted to train my lower half. My gluteus and hip area were pretty atrophied though so they weren’t able to bear a lot before they started messing up. In general I would’ve done more fire hydrants as an exercise before I had gotten the injury. As for having the injury and exercising I wouldn’t be too sure for actually stressing it out anymore than it already is.

How about running? Good or bad?
@karent.82454 жыл бұрын
Hello. When you mention spreading your feet and knees apart while doing the squat, you don't mean actually moving them apart while performing the squat...?
@margaretmartinpt3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question. Some folks will see a little movement of the knees being drawn apart if their tendency is to bring them together. Otherwise, no. It is an energy you are creating in your legs. If you imagine an energy force under the arches of your feet and between your legs, that force is gently pushing your feet and legs into a safe alignment as you squat. I hope this is helpful. Margaret

Should squats be avoided for bladder prolapse?
@donna56592 жыл бұрын
Do a shallow squat not so far down as a regular squat and try to do a kegel as you preform the squat.
