Amazed over your sarcastic comment, which in reality must mean that you do not think people should comment in the comments section, unless their comment is indifferent or positive to KZfaq's content. A word of advice to you: Do not waste time to disparage other viewers' comments. Instead, tell us what you think about the videos :)

When I want to see a great demo of a guitar product I can always turn to Tom Quayle because his always does a really an in depth demo. He is not biased,he just demos the product very fairly and that's what I like about his and Guitar Interactive demos. Great work Tom!!!

Right in between a Deluxe Reverb (1x12" appx 22 watts) and a Twin Reverb (2x12" appx 85 watts) this should be about the best overall general gigging and club amp this company makes at this point. Unless playing the O2 or Madison Square Garden this should be about an all around player would need for warm and fairly clean!

It also doubles as an all in one sound system if you are playing at the corner dive. One chan will give a mic with reverb while you play your guitar out of the other channel. Mine has a volume knob boost if you pull it out.

I have the older Fender “Custom” Vibrolux Reverb with the Blackface cosmetics and 1964 White transitional knobs. It’s a bit noisy but absolutely amazing out on gigs. It has a lot of clarity with the Jensen PR10 speakers. It’s a touch more of a tweed sound. The higher noise floor is masked on the gig, but maybe not ideal for clean recording. A lot of folks mod them to more of this vintage blackface tone. I like mine all original, it really sounds good live.

That said, I would not be adverse to buying one of these, but it might be redundant, with other amp offerings plenteous at this high a price. A good priced, good condition one used might be okay for me, already owning the other.

I believe, personally, what My Quayle meant was that the tube sockets are chassis mounted (by hand) as opposed to a tube sockets on a pcb wiring harness rig. Those who doubt, do you believe that no player can actually feel the difference in a pcb tube sockets & chassis mounted tube sockets? Really? You're 100% certain *no one* can?

@@jst601 I'd guess that Quayle was stating some of the marketing jargon that is required of the vendor in this particular instance. Touch sensitivity is the result of the entire circuit as a whole. Even Eric Johnson admitted he can't really tell the difference between batteries. (which was rubbish). there isn't any voodoo in electronics, there are only good designs and bad designs.
@jst601

@@TH-gu4wj Randall Smith (Mesa Boogie) believes there are places where ptp makes a difference in feel as well as sound & that's why he uses ptp hand wired power tube sockets. Flying leads for the pre-amp tubes. As far as voodoo in electronics, does tolerance of 10% vs 5% vs 2% within parts matter in the 'circuit'?

I really like the original Blackface Vibrolux Reverb but the Vibrolux “Custom” version they were selling just didn’t sound like a real vintage BF Vibrolux to me. Since they didn’t make a proper 65’ reissue I think the 68’ is what I am going to get for my gig amp. I love the 2x10 run with a Showman 1x15 ext cab. That's what I do with mine because the " Bassman" side or CUSTOM has more beef to it while the VINTAGE has a bit more sustain quality and you can get a nice blend. You can also jumper the channels like an old 4 input Marshall plexi on this model. The bright switches are ridiculously bright so I generally don't use them even with humbuckers.

Come on, you know the answer to your question. Fender has been using PCBs in most of their amps for what, 40 years? Nothing wrong with preferring point-to-point but, for the most part, you’re going to be restricted to amps that are at least 40 years old if you go that route. Prepare to spend some money getting those into tip-top shape if you buy one. Now, Fender does make a few hand-wired amps, but there’s a limited selection (currently five models) and they’ll cost you at least twice as much as a PCB version. It’s your choice. Personally, I’ve had a Custom Vibrolux Reverb (PCB) for more than 20 years and it’s still working great. 🤷‍♂️ And no - no chips or computer parts in my CVR, and I don’t think there are any in the amp reviewed here either.

@@michaelcraig9449 PCBs don’t break down. 40 year old solid state fenders and peavey still work fantastic. Enough with the point to point crap. Everything else you own is not point to point wired… ya know like your microwave and television..

I *hate* 90% of all the Fender amp review videos I've ever seen, because reviewers rarely ever demo their Fender amps on high-gain, so its never heard. GAIN God dammit!

I was thinking the same thing. It would be nice to hear it cranked up a bit, especially with the Bassman-voiced channel.

tremolo = vibrato? I don't think so haha

Rightly or wrongly, the two terms have pretty much been used interchangeably since the ‘50s.

Fender always called the tremolo of their amps that had it “Vibro”. It isn’t short for vibrato. It’s just. “Vibro”. Their foot switch’s will have the letters VIB or REV/VIB on them so, Fender amp tremolo =Vibro only. Not Vibrato.

@@Slammintone not true. On the original brown/blonde/black/silver face amps the channel that features the tremolo effect is labelled ‘vibrato’.

That sounds like shit. Something is microphonic. I can hear poping and the amp cutting in and out at a volume of 3? No way. Poping when your strumming clean. I would be checking out that Guitar as well. Something is up for sure

Sounds like plastic ! I own a Fender CVR from the year 1990 and the tone is fantastic.

Hate it when a guy does a demo and knows nothing about the amp but thinks he can wing it by guessing while looking at the amp. This is NOT like a '68 in any respect, except for the cosmetics... not even on the "Vintage" Channel. The Vintage channel is based on the AA964 blackface(not '68 silverface AA270 circuit) Vibrolux circuit. In the "Vintage" channel, its a clone of the '65 DRRI. The "Custom" channel is very loosely based on an unspecified Bassman circuit. Its obviously NOT an actual Bassman circuit, because the tone stack only has bass and treble. It may seem like a trivial difference between the '68 and '65 circuits, but there's a reason that the price tags on the originals have a NOT so trivial difference. This has a much better tone on the vintage channel than that of the '68-'82. Get it right if you're going to pretend like you know.
