Hi! I am new to your channel. I lived in the Florida panhandle for 40 years, then moved to Missouri. The humidity and heat here in Missouri is brutal. It takes some getting used too. Watch for squash bugs and cabbage worms, they are quick. Enjoy the longer growing season and best of luck here. Btw, I look forward to learning to more about fermenting. Linda!

Fun video! I have heard that if you add a small amount of baking soda to the water when boiling it helps remove the chickpea skins but I haven’t tried this yet so if it helps let us know : ). I just peel them by hand, patiently, but the texture is so much better without the skins whether making hummus or a chickpea mock egg or tuna salad. Thanks for the yummy recipes!

I came across her vlogs a l-o-n-g time ago and it's so funny to me because the minute I saw her, I thought, wait a minute, she looks so familiar. The facial expressions, those eyebrows, y'all look like twins! So I went to your channel and back to hers and back to yours and I thought, man, they have to be related. Months later, she mentioned you as her sister, 💡I knew it!!! hahaha! She is one tough cookie too! Goes out, shoots whatever, guts it, cleans it and cooks it up! Y'all are both awesome!!! ❤❤

I’m excited to try the miso hummus! I’m not a big garlic fan, so I always would use baked garlic in everything because it’s such a different, mellow flavor. Then I tried making garlic confit so now I always have little jars of the garlic confit AND little jars of garlic-infused oil! Makes the Drummer happy that he gets some garlic at all. 😂

Spread chickpeas out on a towel, cover with another towel and use hands to 'rub' chickpeas between the towels. I found that method works well to remove most of the skins. My local Kroger grocery store that sells Simple Truth Organic beans is where I get them on sale for $1/can. Do you ever add cumin to your hummus? Hubby eats the hummus as fast as I can make it, usually preferring roasted red pepper. 1 clove of garlic = 3? Well, duh, of course it does!!! 😋
@liteweightpup2561
@liteweightpup2561 Жыл бұрын
You read my mind. I made hummus last night with some canned chickpeas that I’ve had for awhile. I know I did not pay $3 and it was the same brand. Probably used a coupon😊. Anyway, I used a whole small bulb of garlic because I thought the one clove on the ingredient list just had to be a misprint. ha! Next time, I will roast it first. Love the variety you shared. Never thought about making it more gut friendly. And I love hummus as a sandwich spread.

I love hummus roasted vegetables. You take hummus, water it down to a "sauce" consistency then toss it with veggies like broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, sliced red onions (whatever you like really) and the seasonings of your choice. Then roast at 350 for as long as it takes to roast your veggies. It's really yummy.

The easiest way I've found to remove the skins is to squeeze the bean between your thumb and 2 fingers. The bean will shoot out of the skin quick-fast-&-in-a-hurry so do it over the bowl you want it in. Then just throw the skin in the 'trash bowl'. If you get REALLY good, you can 2-hand it! 😁😁😁 I pull all the skins off my garbanzo beans when making hummus. UPDATE: If you're trying to use the 'water' method to remove the skins, you need to use hot or very warm water if you want the skins to come off in the water. Cold water will not work. They don't really need to 'soak' as long as the water is warm enough. Just put in very hot water (but not so hot you can't put your hands in) and lightly 'scrub' them between your hands. The skins will fall off - most of them. If you want ALL the skins off, the 'popping' method (above) is the best way to finish it off. Just keep in mind that the chickpeas with the skins off are shiny, the ones with the skins on are not. So there you are. Hope this helps! 👍

Abso-tootly... 🤣🤣 Great video! Love your garlic math. In the past, I have roasted a whole cake pan's worth of garlic at one time and then packed it into a small jar with olive oil. Lasts forever in the fridge (well, it does if you forget it's there; otherwise, it goes pretty quickly) and so handy. Never thought to use hummus as a Faux Alfredo Sauce... 😋 QUESTION: you only used the miso approach on one batch. Will it work with the other recipes, maybe backing off on the salt? Inquiring minds... Now I will go check out your sister's video. Thanks again! 😄
