"do you remember the sixth time you polished the car?" Truer words were never spoken. 162K on Petra now ('86 911 Coupe) and my 3K drive to Rennsport Reunion in September was an absolute high point. Do the WI run!

My sister has a '87 Carrera that had 152K in the clock before needing a rebuild, and yet the crankshaft still used standard bearings. Great car, enjoy it.

Not only a smile to your face, but also to a lot of other people's faces who actually get to see these cars, instead of them being tucked away in some private collection.

How are we supposed to inspire the next generation of owners for these cars if we don't show them how cool and fun they are to own? I feel kids never want to do what their parents did, especially when it's all about polishing cars all day. Thanks for watching!

Great video Tom. I turned 60 this month, over the past 5 years I sold the cars that were low mileage garage queens. Now i have the time to drive and maintain the less than perfect cars that are more fun to use and drive. Thank you for your thoughtful comments.

Thanks for watching! I love original low mileage cars because of their reference to originality, but keeping them low mileage is a chore and a burden. Life it too short preserving a car for the next owner!

I agree about the foolishness of keeping "low miles" on a car. John Cleese's old expression was, "Where's the pleasure in that?"

Enjoy the ride sir!! Love him or hate him (there doesn't seem to be anyone in between), I always liked Glickenhaus's quote... "Not putting miles on your Ferrari is like not having sex with your girlfriend so she'll be more desirable to her next boyfriend." -Jim Glickenhaus

I am 100% with you that Ferraris have to be driven. I am Ferrari Owner since 1992 and all of my cars i did drive a lot ( 348tb-126000 KM, F 40 75000 km, 512TR 90000 km and some more) Result: Never had a real problem with them.

With a collection of cars like that, I would be out driving them too! I believe Europeans drive their cars more than Americans, but some of us actually buck this trend. Thanks for watching!

Worth pointing out that even if things go wrong while you're out driving, it's still an experience! Most of us that own these things can afford to deal with it. No need to fret about something happening or panic when it does, just enjoy the moment and soak in the experience. It's either that, or never drive it out of fear, which is useless.

Great to see you taking it out and driving it, Tom. Great video and I totally agree with you, Ferraris are meant to be driven, not polished and kept inside.

The unfortunate reality of life is that 80% of the people that can afford to own a classic Ferrari or any high-end classic car for that matter, buy them as investments. Hence why they don’t want anything to happen to them and they want to keep the miles low, but the other 20% of us that are lucky to own a classic Ferrari or other nice classic car, we own them to drive them and enjoy them as exactly what you said, to remember each mile and become one with the car.
@tomyangnet3 ай бұрын
It’s only in the last 10-15 years it’s become like this. In the past, people bought Ferraris because they wanted them, not because they were investments. I bought mine when they were relatively cheap, and am currently properly insured, so I’m lucky so I can enjoy it as I intended. Besides, it’s more fun to drive than car than to count the appreciation. At least for me!

I fully endorse this message! As I used to say to my clients, 'enjoy your money/profits, no fun being the richest man in the cemetery!' And, remember to enjoy life because your going to be a long time dead!

Great drive Tom, is it harmful to drive these cars short distances regularly? I have a super short commute.
@tomyangnet3 ай бұрын
It’s not ideal, but as long as you balance it with drives longer than 20-30 minutes every few weeks, it’ll be fine. The main thing is to get the moisture to evaporate in the engine. When the oil gets above boiling temps, the water will evaporate out.
@robertbcope3 ай бұрын
Four months between drives is sad, but it happens. My goal every time I drive my cars is to push as much fuel through them as possible, which makes the driving more fun, too! When you're out in the 330, do people around you notice it or does it fly under the radar a bit?
@tomyangnet3 ай бұрын
They salt the roads in my part of the country whenever it snows, so I always have to wait for the salt to be washed away to drive again. I've noticed New Yorkers are not car enthusiasts like Californians, so less people notice or care, but those that know, know!
@RoeVenturesLLC3 ай бұрын
2:29 Waste of money to ship lol it’s just idea of owning a Ferrari and services costs why guys just polish the car.
@tomyangnet3 ай бұрын
Nothing is cheap anymore, but I would ship it out so I can guarantee I get out there in time for the show. I get it. Some of these guys worked really hard to buy this little treasure and can barely afford to keep it and enjoy it, so they park it and polish it. Look at all the boats in marinas that the owners go out and sit in them instead of burning the fuel to take them out because it's an extra expense that they can barely afford. To each his own.

A low milage car is like a stock you don't sell. Unrealized profit. What a shame
@tomyangnet3 ай бұрын
It's worse with a stock. A stock can be left in an account without much care, but a car deteriorates whether you use it or not, and not using it seems to defeat most of the pleasure of owning an automobile! Thanks for watching.
