One of the prettiest Fiats ever made, especially these early examples. Pretty rare too, given less than 70.000 were ever made, and who knows how many of those still exist...

I have a 1995, barchetta here in Spain, ive dismantled the suspension etc, cleaned and painted it all. No rain or salt on the roads so everything is rust free and clean looking !! My only problem is passing the emissions test every year at the mot.
@ItaliaAutos3 жыл бұрын
yes its getting tougher each year for old cars.
@glennlindamood3 жыл бұрын
Here in the USA (well, in Ohio anyway!), they only require emissions testing ("E-Check") for cars 4 to 25 years old! I imagine California is much more strict!

I own one of these. Unlike most other cars which corrode from the outside to the inside, the little 'B' does it the other way round. Mainly because of holes in the worn floor covering. This twin bathtub covering is one piece for a very good reason. I have lightened my car. Modded the suspension and breaks. It now goes and handles very much like a 130TC but with a much higher top speed. (NOT RECOMENDED). Only a 7 can catch me on the twisties. 'Cos every thing else that wants to play is too HEAVY! :-)

Barchettas are fantastic cars, and more reliable than their reputation deserves.

Not bad condition at all for a 22 year old fiat, not what the so called experts will tell you, all Italian cars rust etc etc

Please post more on you own Barchetta - how is it holding up? Why did you pick the Barchetta? And how are they for rust - can you drive them as everyday cars?

More content is planned as I now have some new rear lights and a new hood to fit plus more bodywork is needed.

Bar-KET-ta (bar·chét·ta) is correct. From 'barca' (bàr·ca), italian for boat. Barchetta is a 'small boat'

With the MX5 ( even old ones (you don’t have to get out. Just unclip the roof and throw it back over your head with two hands. If you do it fast enough it’ll lock into place The great thing about the modern 126 spider too it’s just an MX5
@ricardolinker78683 жыл бұрын
Yeah but with the barchetta you get a very nice finish with the roof open bevause of the tonneau cover.

A good dosing of fluid film every year is pretty vital on old cars if its a keeper.

Those engine chassis legs/front tower thingies being intact is quite impressive. They rust to hell on Alfa 156/147... One of them on my 156 is utterly gone, I've just ripped it off, scraped the excess rust off it and slapped inhibitor then rust protector on it. The lower part doesn't seem to offer anything other than becoming a rust issue later so I assume I've done the right thing!

There were some RHD conversions, by Bell & Colvill I believe. Finding one would be a challenge but probably worthwhile as I dare say it would've been wrapped in cotton wool and better rust wise 😀
