I owned a Barchetta Riviera for 15 years. I LOVED IT and it was my every day car :). A special little car and I wish that I still had it

We bought a yellow barchetta in 1995, two months after it was first shown on the Geneva car show (we live in Switzerland). Drove it for 22 years and joined various European barchetta meetings including a factory visit. I never had any serious problems (not even the infamous diesel sound problem that some of you may remember) until in summer 2017 the engine failed, two weeks before I had promised my daughter to take her with the barchetta for a few days to Italy. A real pity. Plan B to rescue our planned trip to Italy: rent a MX-5 ND. I have to admit, we loved the barchetta but the MX-5 ND also is a fantastic sports car. And life goes on. So after the trip to Italy we bought a MX-5 but every now and then I look at the photos of the many, many trips we did during 22 years barchetta.

I love my Barchetta: it's a low mileage 2006 car in silver and is like new. It also has a detachable hard top, so is great for winter driving.

Bought mine eleven years ago and don't want to let it go - best car I've had for holidays in Spain, France and of course Italy...

Hi I have recently bought one that has stood five years not running, think its immobiliser problems? any tips? code symbol goes out when cranking over but not the injector symbol is that normal? thanks

Got mine also 15 years now. Its a 96 and in top condition. And i do kick it up and down mountain roads pretty heavily. I think it´s more true to say, if you want to have a "good" barchetta you will have to spend more than 1000€. Thats kind of lower end rotting away one (maybe you are lucky with yours). But in general a decent one usually is around 4500+. Ideally stock, so you can do all the suspension and exhaust stuff to your liking yourself. Another Suspension definitely helps. The stock "aloha" suspension is a nono :).

I own one of the Milano special Editions and keep it running since 2002, wich is more work than you might expect, especially wish the supply of spare parts drying up... But I've never owned a car hat gave me more pleasure driving....

A Barchetta tends to give you that feeling i´d agree 😄, Spares tend to be an issue, but I hope it wll give you a lot of driving pleasure for many years to come!

Leuke review! De klep van de softtop is niet van plastic😂 ga maar eens kijken bij een beschadigde of geschuurde. De carrosserie lijkt inderdaad wel door te lopen bij de voorruit, dat is ook echt zo, de bovenkant van het dashboard is folie om verblinding tegen te gaan. Voor 1000 euro heb je een koopje, fatsoenlijke zijn vaak meer dan het 3 dubbele. Veel roest in oa wielkuipen en motorproblemen bij dergelijke dumpprijzen. Wordt steeds meer een liefhebbers auto

Fiat did another 2 seater convertible sports car ... the Fiat 124 Spider. Based on the Mazda MX-5 (or Miata) but with Fiat exterior styling and a similar 1.4 turbo engine to the Abarth 500. But sadly, for some bizarre reason, Fiat stopped selling them in the UK after only 3 or 4 years and 2000 to 2500 were sold.

This is purely my point of view. But I never liked the 124 spider as much. Compared to the mx-5 it just looked dated to me. It could have been a lot more exciting design wise, imo.
