I tell them the story of my grade 5 experience where two boys would pick on me every day and when I'd try to do the "right" thing and tell the teachers, I'd be told to man up or stay away from them. It wasn't until I snapped and went after those two with a bat and was screaming how I was going to cave their skulls in (a teacher managed to stop me before I caught them). They called in my mother and wanted to expel me for extreme violence. My mother asked me what happened, I told her about all of it and she told the principal that if they tried to expel me or punish me in any way, she would sue the school, the district and him personally into the ground (My dear sweet sainted mother was not one to be messed with and you didn't mess with her boys either). Those two boys never messed with me again and at the time, yes I would have beaten them bloody if I'd caught them. Sometimes there is no other choice but violence.

my own frustrations is towards school system in general that punishes those who stand up against bullies, but never the bullies themselves? i'd say bringing vigilante justice for oneself is sometimes the answer. violence against bullies is neccessary to let them leave us the f alone... and if they continue to torment, then it's time to really tell them "don't f with me" i hate it when schools punishes the victims... it makes the victims become doormats...

I had come in hot, tired and thirsty and he started trying to hit me and when I told him to stop he said he wanted to see if I had learned anything in my Tang Soo-Do. After blocking a few blows from him while telling him to stop I struck him in the solar plexus with my left heel of palm. Needless to say that was the last time he did that. At the time I weighed 122 pounds and he weighed almost twice that.

If you make sure that a bully is scared, he will stop bullying. 2. Pain : a bully - like a lot of other aggressive types - will stop their behavior if they receive a dose of their own medicine. I'm not saying that you have to beat them up or put them in hospital. But a choke or wrist / finger / arm grip, has always - for me - done the job. When I was in the Army, our close combat instructors showed us and demonstrated how you deal with bullies and aggressive people. They only had to deal once with one of the troublemakers to straighten them out. Your "different and more intelligent approach" might work, but it requires some sort of intelligence from the bullies. I'm sorry but the bullies that I met, aren't the most intelligent people out there. I see your approach working for people that are locked up in prison. But not on the streets... So yeah, stand up to bullies and aggressive people, not only as a victim but also as a bystander. It usually only takes around 2 or 3 people to speak up and/or react, to stop bullies. Be one of those 2 or 3 people.

I can only speak on the bullies I knew in my life, and of myself. I got bullied and beat up pretty bad in the 3erd grade. My dad kicked me out until I kicked the other dudes butt. When I did an went home he beat my ass for being a bully. I learned the lesson he was trying to teach me. The problem, I started to become a bully to the other bullies. I realized I liked fighting and some of the bullies were the only ones who could give me a good fight. Not all of them. I never picked on normal kids in school, or normal people when I got older. I stood up for them, I knew in most cases that if they fought back it would only make things worse for them. I would say stand up for yourself always, but use violence only as a last resort. You don't know if the bully is a glass tiger or if he is the real deal. If they are the real deal you just made your life a lot worse, not to mention painful. As a Christian, I must say people misunderstand the whole "turn the other cheek " thing. Jesus isn't telling us to be "doormats ". What it means is, rather than retaliating right away, give the other person a chance to do the right thing, i.e. apologize, or make right the wrong. Failing that, you should walk away, which is exactly what our "hero" did in this clip. It was only by chance that he saw them again before getting into his car and driving away. So, he approached them to give them another chance to do the right thing. Had they done so, he would've turned around and no harm done.

I agree to an extent, I really think that you should rise above your anger and Ray should have just walked away here. However if anyone puts their hand on you or your family or tries to take away your property, you should be capable and willing to defend yourself. However in his other world not punishing a perceived offense is a sign of weakness. In real life there is no gain in going to that alley and attacking them. Thats how people get shot/stabbed by a punk wanting to prove something. You can just move on and never see those assholes again. The point is, violence would normally play a role in the scenario. NO "use your words"... NO "time outs"... NO calling an adult to handle KID problems... and NO litigation of ANY kind! Hello, I'm very curious to know which school it was because it sounds like my old school back in 1985.

I am no close combat guy and was quite non-muscular and risk-averse. In school we had to choose between boxing and judo. And everyone had to perform at he horizontal bar, bock jumping etc. I very much despised this. And I nearly did no make it to high school in former GDR, because of not throwing mockup hand grenades far enough. I do not rum very fast and I do not throw hand grenades very far, but ar quite good in archery. Also needs some muscle for longer range archery ...I think it is not good to force children to doo things in sports education they do not want at all...

The victims of years of bullying and neglect lashing out because they start hating everything and everyone around them. How often do you read about some shooter(s) having been bullied in their teens only for them to come back at innocent people or taking 'revenge' on their bullies ? I've read an article once where someone who was bullied at work by a coworker, when the victim came back a whole bunch of people died, including the ones that 'let it happen' and turned a blind eye. 100% facts. I was bullied relentlessly by this little twerp in middle school for about 2 years. He messed with me in the 6th and 7th grade almost every single day. Constant name calling, constant physical assault, if he ever saw me in the hallway it was a never-ending ride as he would just follow me and slap me, try to trip me, try to steal my backpack, etc. He did not do this to just me. He did it to other kids too. In the 8th grade, I had just gotten to the top of the 3rd floor stairs and I was on my way to a classroom to hand in work. I needed to get it to my teacher in the next 30 seconds, otherwise that jerk would have given me a zero. Then the bully shows up and steals my backpack. He's laughing and howling and cackling the entire time. Nobody tried to stop him. He started running back towards the stairs and was clearly threatening to toss my pack over the railing. I slowly, calmly walked over to him. And then I shoved him. He looked surprised but continued to laugh at me. I shoved him again, this time much, much harder. He fell back against the railing and almost fell, head first, over the railing. I almost sent this asshole to the hospital. Possibly could have even landed him in a grave. All over a stupid backpack and a minute or two of high-grade "entertainment" for him. It was in that short 5 second moment where I could see the look of complete and total fear on his face. It's like he realized that what he was doing was incredibly stupid. He didn't fall. He got his footing back, said "holy shit man", and I grabbed my pack out of his slimy little hands. He did not screw with me for the rest of the year. And nobody reported me for this little incident either. There were TONS of kids around...I think pretty much everybody knew this douchecanoe had it coming. F*** you Kyle. I hope your life is currently a failure.

I would put all bullies of one district in one school together with a large wall arount. So they can do they like most. After some 3 months they can apply or mercy and to be re.trandferred to normal school. The winners of this contest go to military or jail.

Violence may not be the answer most of the time. That being said, sometimes it is the answer. Like it or not, there are assholes out there and for whatever reason, violence is the only language they understand. Should you meet every encounter with violence, no. But when it counts, sometimes it's the only way.

well, same happens in the judicial system, context is always disregarded, or rather, not even taken into account, the judge doesn't want to know about it, they want to know who bashed who, how much damage one did to another so the forensics, the judge and the prosecutor can make up this pantomime and fine each part "accordingly", they don't really care about justice, only punishment. many years ago some idiot wanted trouble, he started insulting me and stuff on the street, i just left because that guy was just mad and i didnt want any trouble, 10 minutes and 2 streets down the road he kept on insulting until i lost it, i headbutted him once, he fell, i grabbed him, make him stand up on his feet then punched him once, his glasses fell off, after that i even picked them up from the floor and gave them to him, i mean, i wasnt even enraged, the moron had the nerve to go report me to the police... surreal, if he was man enough as to go asking for trouble, he should've been man enough to deal with the consequences, i explained it in court, they didn't care one bit, not even after the dumbfuck said plainly "yeah i could really use this money so i could do renovations on my home's bathroom", and even after saying this the judge ruled against me, unreal.

Problem is bullying will never go away. But what people fail to realise is that its children's first hard lesson in life that shjt rolls down hill considering someone is always bullying the bully as well.

What you say may extend to some point, but is far, very far from "always", they have other issues, and being abused is rarely one of them.

for me it worked too somewhat like that. I was bullied in school by some kids some 4 or 5 years elder. Someday they cornered me and my nature defense reflexes took over and i hit one of them quite badly in the face. From this day on they never tried again. Because in their heart, bullies are mostly very coward people who are affraid if they risk serious resistance.

me too. when i was at school this kid bullied me constantly until i took up the courage to punch him in the face. looking back wasnt a very good punch but it took him by surprise and he didnt do it again after that. Rise up and Stand up for yourself!

When he attempted to kick me in my genitals, I tried to grab his leg, but missed. He foolishly tried it again, and this time I succeeded and pulled him down onto the ground. Honestly, my opinion is that the current public school system, department of education, and the teachers unions all need to be disbanded, and in some cases arrested for child abuse. That's just for how they are conducting teaching in a general sense, before you consider the pornographic books that are in school libraries that are being defended by School staff and school boards.

usually the teacher tells the kid "ignore him, he will tire of it", which in reality i̶g̶n̶o̶r̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶h̶i̶m̶ being passive triggers him more and encourages him to continue.

3 step rule - say stop - tell authority figure - if they try to stop you doing 1 or 2 and don't stop then solve it by yourself Even my 13 y.o daughter knows these rules. Give them a chance but only one at each level
