I still think that the “EMP blast” and “Bullet time” as we refer to them are what are canonically known as “Chaos Blast” and “Chaos Control” respectively. In the Archie Comics canonical backstory of Sonic where Sonic helps Kintobor harness the power of Chaos And charge the emeralds in the R.O.C machine it could be better explained that Sonic was born of Chaos energy and possessed the innate ability of Chaos giving him his speed, but though untrained somehow can accidentally set off Chaos Control/Blast but needs the Emeralds to channel them, which blows up the R.O.C.C and turns Kintobor into Robotnik and everything spirals from there. What we may be seeing is a reboot, where Sonic is already blue, but has his unchanneled raw Chaos energy and can’t yet master it- but regardless it the movie, Sonic is being hunted by the Echidna, protectors of the Master Emerald, which may be why they want Sonic- either to charge their own emerald so Angel Island can stay aloft. OR Sonic as a Baby became imbued with power from the master Emerald and unknowingly carries the sum of Angel Island’s main power source. And they want it back. Fast forward to the hunted at sequel and we see Tails is tracking Sonic across the multiverse, maybe in this reboot Tails was the creator of the R.O.C.C searching for Sonic, but we’re gonna inevitably come across knuckles who in the comic canon was searching for the theif of “The Good Doctor’s” Emeralds, in the reboot maybe still searching for the energy theif of the master emerald. And when you look at these key points in the Sonic canon and see how they may be trying to reconstruct the narrative it may be the Chaos Blast that emits an EMP type blast, we do see a similar effect in the 3D games tho.

I know this episode is focused on Sonic's speed, but now I'm worried about an EMP attack so thanks.
