Managing one’s money is more than a necessary skill for financial success. It is also a source of power. People who are not involved in managing their finances are financially dependent upon whoever does. Financial dependency is a problem whether it is voluntary (like a wealthy athlete who entrusts his money affairs to a financial manager) or involuntary (like a victim trapped in an abusive relationship). It can even happen to an experienced CPA fully educated in financial matters. In this revealing talk, Estelle shares the reality of financial dependency and ways to help someone break free from it. Estelle Gibson is a CPA and Financial and Business Coach. She helps her clients break free from financial dependency by teaching them powerful money strategies. Estelle helps them transform their money stories and limiting beliefs by using new tools, allowing them to break free from fear, confusion and self-sabotage. She has over 35 years of professional experience as a CPA in Finance, Purchasing and Management working with individuals, including small, privately owned businesses and Fortune 500 companies. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
