I just make my boy pull the wire while the engine is running, if he makes a funny face I found the misfire! He isn't allowed to yell! Great video

I actually got shocked by touching the wires while running, I replaced it with a brand new one and I'm still having problems starting the vehicle

checks if there's too much resistance somewhere as well. Maybe plug got damaged or has too much gap. Would use this along with general plug check as well. Had one with a misfire the other day that recently had plugs and wires put on within the last year or so and all plugs on the driver bank were loose/finger tight.

That's great if you can see and reach all of your spark plugs and wires... A lot of front wheel drive vehicles normally have a bank of plugs not viewable.

The top of the coils are all packed with a gel if it's smooth it's not blown if it's all bubbly it's toast

ive done this it's kinda scary especially on a ford f350 v8 engine

Just get an inductive pen tester. Place it on each spark plug wires and see if it lights up or not. Really easy. Fixed my problem it was a bad coil pack.

Plug could be missing grease in that areas as well and that’s why it’s arcing like that is because it’s supposed to be stopped by it but they must not have put enough there or the wire has torn/shorted

.So I had to check engine light. It was a PO420 cat bank. 1 then.... Started flashing and my truck misfires but it's only when you're full throttle.... Possibility that it's just plugs and wires. It has 212k. Maybe the last guy changed it at 100k with cheap plugs... I'm thinking the gaps are off and it's sending fuel into the cat and throw in the 420 code. I haven't gone back. Scanned it again to see what the flashing misfire is, but at high RPM that's a usually spark. The guy did replace all the fuel lines and brake line so I'm going to see if there's any kinks in the lines. But if it was a kink in the line or a fuel pump you would think it would be a more of a bog not a miss and it runs great everywhere except for full throttle. I thought it was my transmission slipping at first. Now I realize it's my motor missing and not pulling... Not being the transmission is great in my opinion. Saves me money. I'm short, whatever is wrong with it. Can't be more than a transmission. Hopefully it is just plugs and wires and that's throwing the 420 code but I'm not sure. Runs great until you try to rip it so I just drive like gramps right now

Kind of irrelevant considering most cars use coil on boot setup, swap a coil and a plug to different cylinders monitor misfire and see where it moved, if it didn't move do compression test, then leakdown test if low compression

Coil packs, a bad lifter also causes a misfire.

Use gasoline and forget about it

or u can just open the hood start the car at night my uncle old school mechanic told me to do that every now and then I should of payed more attention I would of learned so much from him

Just did my spark plugs yay ! The ones I took out I guess had some stickiness to the threads . I’m guessing oil or just carbon ? Hope it’s not oil . 11 LE 2.5 L with 175 k miles . Unfortunately the tabs fell off the coil connections . And valve cover looked very dirty with caked on oil . I cleaned it off . The oil stains could’ve been from oil filling and they spilled it I guess . I’ve been checking oil level and it don’t seem to be going down

Spark plugs haven't been changed since the vehicle was purchased about 7 years ago....😮 Just a few dasy ago the check enginevlight came on & at the same time the vehicle shook & then it went back to normal. Now the check engine light is off again..... I can't see the spark plugs when i look under the hood.... Location anyone...??😮
