Too many hikers got lost or injured and had to be rescued it is now gone. Update as of June 2022, It is currently in University of Alaska Fairbanks waiting for restoration. They are raising funds now. Once restored, it will be in the Museum. I wish they left the bus too but as you can see from this video, it is not the safest trail. Search and rescues aren’t cheap and put other people’s lives in danger. Chris’s spirit will live on no matter what. It may be just a sad story for many but to the avid hikers and adventurers, it will never ever be forgotten. The story of a naive but brave young man who needed an adventure to heal his heart, mind and spirit. Deep down, many of us needed that too to heal our broken lives but we just don’t have the courage to do it like Chris. Stupid or naive or whatever.. his courage to do what his heart desire is admirable and inspirational.

I feel like I have done it now that I've watched your video. ... you were smart.. traveled with large group.. and the raft was a great idea... Nicely done. Rescued tourists yesterday because they weren't wearing proper shoes in 10°F temps in winter. Alaskans didn't like it so much when people get stuck and called to be rescued.

The bus was recently airlifted out by The Alaska National Guard so people would stop trying to find it, need to be rescued or dying in the process. It's not there anymore and was put in undisclosed storage. Decisions as to "The Magic, deadly, Bus's" future pending.
