We love the Jones Family and have great respect for Valiant and his beloved parents. I'm grateful for his inspired insights of the deeper messages and patterns found in the Book of Mormon. This added layer of truth reminds us that there is always something new to learn each time we prayerfully search the scriptures.

I’ve never been so excited to watch a Saints Unscripted episode - I love Val and his family and can picture him excitedly jumping off the couch in his living room during Elder Bednar’s talk. Such fantastic insights, Brother Jones! I’m feeling enlightened, motivated and inspired.

Jacob’s sermon given in the temple as recorded in Jacob 2 and 3 mentions each of the main temple endowment covenants. He focuses on Sacrifice and Chastity but there are nods to Obedience, the Gospel, and Concentration. See Jacob 2:4, 8, 17-19, 27-28; Jacob 3:1-2.

As well as in 2 Nephi chapters 6-9 being a Day of Atonement ritual, which is an ancient temple ritual.

@valiantkjones another interesting temple covenant theme in the BoM is 3 Nephi when Christ comes. He goes through the sermon on the mount and afterwards covers the same covenants as we make in the temple. Jack Welch and Dave Butler both argue that Sermon on the mount is a temple ritual. I always recommend their books specifically Dave Butlers "Plain and Precious Truths"

If anyone is interested in finding ancient temple rituals in the book of mormon, i recommend reading Temple Theology by Margaret Barker (not LDS) and Plain and Precious Things by D.J. Butler

I love this video, as I was studying Mosiah Chapter 1 in verses 11 and 12 it talks a king Benjamin give a name to his people, maybe he's talking about a new name? Any thoughts

I recommend you search for the recent paper published by Interpreter entitled "King Benjamin's Sermon as a Type of Temple Endowment."

In Mosiah 5:7-8, King Benjamin tells his people that the new name he promised is the name of Christ. This is the new name we all take upon ourselves as members of His church. But I believe that King Benjamin was also alluding to other sacred temple rituals.

It never dawned on me about the Covenants paralleling the Book of Mormon like that. Now it is crystal clear. Also the emphasis on Christ coming to the Nephites in 3rd Nephi and how that relates to Christ returning again to us here in the final dispensation and bringing the gospel to us. With the emphasis on the gospel & what we covenant in the Temple in regards to the gospel.

Not even kind of true. I recently heard some people say that we seem obsessed with worshiping Jesus.

Jesus is up there but the current prophet is more important. For example, during the last general conference Joseph Smith was mentioned ten times, Jesus was mentioned forty seven times, and Russell Nelson was mentioned sixty five times.

@@MichaelSmith-fq3pg A quick search through general conference talks from the latest session showed over 500 mentions of Jesus (and I didn't even include "Christ", so any mentions like, "the Christ" or "Christ saves us" wouldn't have shown up. There were 53 for Nelson. So, if you're gonna lie, do a better job.

no, just for no reason the name of our church contains the word "Jesus Christ"!!
