Watch the video imagery. A city scape then a flash and the city is in ruins. Also know that Su is from Hiroshima. But instead about destruction, the lyrics are about hope and rebirth.

Babymetal has matured since 2014! *-) First time I heard this song and video I was thinking av the A-bomb in Hiroshima ( Su-metal is born there) and the tree in the end is those trees that survived the A-bomb: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hibakujumoku

Yep, I noticed that too! Didn't really know that story behind the song but so I that's also really interesting.

Everyone has their own interpretation of the song. In reality, there are painful things like wars, disasters, and pandemics that rob the world of its beautiful colors. But this song is about bringing back the beautiful colors, starting with us! I feel the positivity of the song 😁. I like the fact that it doesn't deny or criticize anyone. I am looking forward to seeing the one and only new BABYMETAL next year when these songs will be performed in concert. It will be HEAVY METAL if you listen to them, HAPPY METAL if you watch them, and I will be so happy if I can witness in real time the completion of a worldview that only they can create 😭.

Thanks for this reaction, glad you enjoyed it. Babymetal catchy ? You don't say ;-) That's definitely part of their core what they do. Yes, it's a sort of ballad. They've not done that for many years. So it's not a bad idea. Babymetal is at it's best live. So if you react to more, I would recommend that.

Nice to see a fellow finnish person reacting to Babymetal. If you are at all interested seeing them live Babymetal is going to open for Sabaton on their tour in spring next year. They'll be playing in Helsinki and Kuopio in May. I'm not 100% sure if there are any tickets left though:D

you asked what they are doing in Japan with all the good metal. you can thank Babymetal for that. they showed that a Japanese female leading band can find success overseas. Band-Maid, Lovebites, Nemophila, and so many more came after Babymetal. Babymetal opened the door for so many bands. even The Hu can thank Babymetal since no one knew who they were until Babymetal had them open for them in 2019 in the northwest part of the US tour.
Жыл бұрын
Yeah, now when you pointed it that way I'll totally agree. When it comes down to thinking about internationally successful Japanese metal bands, Babymetal was always the first band that came to my mind even though I didn't actively listen to their music.

One thing is wrong Japan has the second largest music market in the world. They have no intention of succeeding abroad in the first place. This is because they can make a lot of money just by selling domestically. That's why they don't actively advertise or promote abroad. Most of their music videos don't even have english subtitles. babymetal are a special case, and they are a little conscious of selling overseas. It's not that the previous japanese band weren't good, it's that they didn't care about overseas from the beginning. Japan's music market is bigger than some of Europe combined. In other words, they earn more than European singers even without selling overseas. The reason why kpop actively promotes overseas is because the korean market is extremely small. It's not that they were the first to succeed, it's just a rare case of them trying overseas. Even in their(babymetal) case, the agency does not seriously spend money advertising it. If the japanese agency was serious about promoting it overseas, it would have to be an even bigger promotion. But they have a promised huge domestic market so they will never do that. It is natural to focus on domestic activities rather than overseas where success is not guaranteed.

A lot of people are coming around to the fact that Japan is really doing something special in the Rock and Metal genre's. For those who have been watching this over the last Decade we can't help but say...Bout Freaking TIME!! LoL!! So many great Bands out there, Like Band Maid, Lovebites, Nemophila, Maximum the Hormone, Ningen Isu, Wagakki Band, Passcode, Bratz and sooo many others!! Babymetal has been my favorite group since I first watched them back in 2013 and Japanese Rock and Metal is my preferred music genre over any other..even my old love of Western Classic Rock...(Sorry Boston)!! So I'll say, More Babymetal Always!! Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!

Great reaction and welcome to BABYMETAL! This is a very deep song lyrically. They built a huge allegory with several layers of significance around some dark themes even referencing Ragnarök, as you noticed. The visuals also goes in that direction. Because they depict a nuclear blast and its consequences. Notice that Su-metal (the lead singer) is from Hiroshima and granddaughter of survivors. But they also wanted to end the song with an optimistic message with the last lines and the colorful tree probably "Yggdrasil" or also one of the survivor trees or "Hibakujumoku". And... I always wanted to say this (long story)... Moimoi! 😁
Жыл бұрын
Moi! Thanks! Now once you mention the connection between Hiroshima, lyrics and music video, I really get it. That's amazing songwriting for sure and the video goes well together with that message. Forgot to mention that colorful tree at the end was really amazing addition to the video too that reflects the optimism

Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal's metalverse 🦊🤘🌐 You were really jamming with this song and that's all that matters for me, so if you want something different in your life then BabyMetal will definitely be your option, although you said you know something about them i think you'll have to go back more than 10 years to know how they arrived here and what's really BM all about coz trust me, this song is beautiful and with different elements, but is not even close to show you what they're capable to do when performing on the stage. Dance choreography and metal had never seen before and they somehow managed to make it works, there's no other group like them out there and after they blew up internationally with the biggest hit Gimme Chocolate!! they opened up the gates to many others J-Metal and J-Rock bands that many fans are enjoying, so thanks to BM the Japanese music scene were certainly benefited. They got the bless of many others rock and metal legends like Metallica, Rob Halford from Judas Priest, Guns N Roses, RHCP, Korn, Corey Taylor from Slipknot, DragonForce, Rob Zombie, even Lady Gaga took them on her live tour and many more famous artists and bands gave support to this truly phenomenon. BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute), mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms. Their name is a reference to a new genre and not related to their ages or "baby" faces, is a pun intended play words with "heavy-metal" which sounds similar to "baby-metal", although when they started so young we can say that they look like babies looking even younger than the age they got. They are: *SuMetal* (lead vocals). *MoaMetal* (scream and dance) *YuiMetal* (scream and dance, former member since 2018) None of them are related. Some recommendations for next songs like: - _"Ijime, Dame, Zettai"_ live at Sonisphere Festival 2014 or... - _"Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!"_ live at Legend 1997 in Makuhari Messe Japan when SuMetal is celebrating her 16th birthday becoming a metal goddess queen and leaving her idol jpop form (you can find one at Gans Tomas channel under "Head Bangya" title). - _"Catch Me If You Can"_ live at Budokan 2014 (you got a safe to react version with subtitles at GuilhermeCait channel). You have more than 50 songs and still more to come. Amuse their label is very hard to deal so if you want to avoid copyright blocked you have *Babymetal Reactor Resource* channel you'll get full original clips of their best live performance with watermarked logo safe to react, look for "Future Plans" vid, follow instructions and you'll get all of them, upload the one with the logo for us and you can watch without it, don't worry for us we already saw all of them. This song is beautiful and full of meanings, we all are theorizing about it with the Ragnarok reference and the Yggdrasil picture (World Tree or Tree Of Life) from Norse mythology like you noticed, but the main point is they're trying to tell us a new story and lore about a metalverse with 10 different worlds and songs they found after a year of official hiatus when sealing the group. Everything will be revealed at their own time and you didn't even watched their first previous single of this upcoming album "The Other One" called "Divine Attack - Shingeki", try it if you want. Thanks for sharing this and hope to see you next time 🦊🤘🔥 Btw try to give the like/heart within the week man, not freaking more than half year later.

Nice reaction. A lot of reactors find themselves smiling before the end of the video. Just from hearing Su's voice. And when the color returns that smile grows even bigger. The music is great and that hook. Many fans can't wait to sing that with Moa in concert. The lyrics do mention Ragnarök. The writers use it as a comparison to whatever bad thing you're going through. Making a connection to the bombing in Hiroshima and how the world felt monochrome in the after math. But just like in Ragnarök which was supposed to be the end of everything. Turned out to not be. Things survived like the world tree. And in Hiroshima a tree survived that too. Along with people who did. A reminder that no matter how bad things get the night won't last forever and tomorrow is a new day. We can build a better world. As such the color will return. When it does smile. For many Babymetal fans the world felt monochrome when Babymetal went a break starting around the time the covid lockdowns did. Lucky for us the break they called sealed ended with the release of this song and Divine Attack which came out the month before. Now the fans of Babymetal are called the One. As in One with the band. Waiting for their first live appearance and performance since the sealing. Which comes in January 2023. Enjoy the ride through foxhole and into the Babymetal galaxy of music.

Thanks for the additional information about the band! I find that story about the song and band really inspiring because right now I'm writing my next release where the theme would be somehow connected to the Finnish history, folklore and how it shaped the nation from one of the poorest country in the Europe to the welfare state. Looking forward to discover more about this band!

Great first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Fox Hole.🦊 When you first became aware of BABYMETAL back in 2014 that was them just pushing the doors open for all the Japanese bands you have been seeing and hearing to follow their lead in exploring the world outside of Japan. Very few Japanese bands had ever looked to tour internationally (there have been exceptions of course like Loudness and X Japan in the 80s), the Japanese music industry has always been mainly insular. BABYMETAL changed that and they are internationally the most successful Japanese band of all time - no small feat considering they were singing almost exclusively in Japanese. They have shown what can be done, what is possible and now we are reaping the benefits with finding out about all these other Japanese bands who have followed BABYMETAL to release their music outside of Japan. BABYMETAL took a chance and did something different and unexpected ... which is pretty much what they have been doing ever since they started. You will not find another band quite like them, they invented their own genre fusing metal with JPop aesthetics, dance and vocals. They have over 50 songs and you will struggle to find two alike. They have songs in virtually every metal genre but they will mix in many other musical styles and genres in with the metal - usually when you least expect it. BABYMETAL are also one of the very best live acts on the planet - and they have the international awards to prove that is not just my opinion. I'm sure you will get suggestions for more songs and live performances. Live BABYMETAL is best - the studio recordings are good, but not as good as their live sound, the official videos are also very good and worth watching but their live performances are where they shine brightest.

Today Su is 25 and Moa is 24, they debuted as Babymetal in 2010 with a third member, Yui who had to leave the group for health reasons. Milestones - 2013 they became a stand alone band/group with the Kami band replacing backing tracks. 2014 they performed a 30 minute set at the Sonisphere Metal music Festival. They were 16 and 15 yo and they killed it. Their merchandise sold-out all the other bands. Other milestones - First Japanese band to play Wembley Arena, sold-out the Tokyo Dome 2 nights running, Capacity 55,000 and performed at the LA Forum, sold-out. First Japanese band to chart on Billbroad in 52 years. As to the excellence of Japanese bands and musicians, It's the culture. Talent is recognized early, encouraged and with an infrastructure to support it. Su and Moa started when they about 6 yo with dance and vocal training. It is common to find members of the Rock/Metal bands that started music lessons as early as 3 yo and switching instruments numerous times. Since you are a guitar man here's a video for you to checkout - Saki and Hazuki (Nemophila) show their main guitars -kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d92dhLt9ns3Uop8.html - They talk about why they play and use these guitars. From the neck size, strings, even their picks, and of course the preferred tones. 17 minutes long Title SAKI & HAZUKI show their main guitars, It's on the Young Guitar YT channel.

If you're a metal guitarist who wants to explore Japanese bands, then you should put *Asterism* at the top of the to-see list. They are a young instrumental metal trio with insane technical skill and the music writing talent to match. Their songs range from very traditional heavy metal, to more groovy and bluesy stuff, as well as incorporating some very progressive and jazzy influences. Their latest album ("Animetic", released a couple of months ago) is only covers of anime music though, so skip that for now. You will want to hear the songs they've written themselves. It's on another level. Here's _"Dawn"._ And fair warning, you will have about 3 minutes to recover from Haruka's first solo before she starts her second: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mNuBg9l6s7DHcWQ.html

@ While not directly referenced, Su-Metal, lead vocalist is from Hiroshima, and the tree in this video can be seen as Yggdrasil, or the tree that survived the atomic blast in Hiroshima (forgot its name). What I love about this song is that it focuses on overcoming loss with a hopeful outlook to the future (hence the last scene where black and white transitions to color), versus any political statements.
