Sorry the audio is somewhat wacky on this one, I was a little sick when I recorded it and didn't realize how low-energy and raspy I sound at times during the recording. I went back to re-record, and my mic somehow broke right after the first recording. So, good news, I'm getting a better mic so my quality should improve. Bad news, for this video you're stuck with what I had. Anyway, happy Fionna and Cake chaos!

Cake not needing Fionna is perfectly in character for her. Cats don't "need" humans. But they want to be with us if they like us and the food we offer. Also, cats find comfort in forging a bond with humans they like.

I get why people are disliking the more relaxed portions focussing on Cake, but I'm glad they're here. We get a feeling for her character distinct from Jake with tons of perfect femme-kitty vibes. Also, Roz Ryan is just incredible. Her Bubbe the whale-mom in Flapjack was underused and restricted by the character, Cake is really serving excellent material for her. I instantly thought of her when they featured Flapjack. So many CN greats cut their teeth on Flapjack which tragically underperformed in its time, and I dearly hope it's little feature peaks the curiosity of anybody who hadn't seen it before this. It's truly CN's room A113, especially since so much of their talent was distinctly East Coast Georgia art schools vs California's West Coast. Imo, the best thing to come out of streaming is older media finding new life in flourishing new fandoms. Just look at Star Trek DS9. WHICH you can watch for free with ads on the Pluto TV app since it left Netflix for Paramount+ almost 2 years ago.

I like how Simon’s portrayal in this is probably meant to respond to people’s complaints regarding Ice King returning to being Simon in the show’s finale being an anticlimactic way to end his arc. Turns out going back to his OG self is a lot more complicated.

I figured that the opening finn and jake aren't from some alternate universe, it's just prismo looking at old recordings of our finn & jake. the scruffy beard and general demeanor implies he's been flipping through old recordings of his friends after jake died. in addition to that, i am guessing finn got the tattoo either to show his bro how much he loves him, or he lost a bet against jake. Hopefully they show us the origin of the tattoo!

Exactly, she loves Fionna but she doesn’t need her, or at least wouldn’t believe she does, just like any other cat, she is just gaining independence after being a common house cat after all

Dude, Simon’s story through the first 4 episodes and including the finale is really depressing and kind of realistic (coming from the stuff in Adventure Time). Tom Kenny does a phenomenal job in my opinion playing Simon and I’m surprised she doesn’t get more serious roles (ie he usually plays somewhat goofy characters like SpongeBob or Plastic Man)

As was pointed out already, I don't believe that the Finn and Jake that Prismo is watching are alt universe ones, rather it seems more likely to be a recording. Plus like, Finn totally would get a Jake tattoo regardless

There is so much to love about these episodes (and *tons* to unpack), but I admit I was a little underwhelmed when it came to certain aspects. That said, there's more episodes to come and I am very curios to see where it's going (especially since most of my theories have already been wiped out lol) And what a bummer that Kumail Nanjiani isn't voicing Prismo, because of his dick manager. The new actor does a good job, but to me it comes off as a little impersonal (which makes sense because Kumail has made a point of saying Prismo was a very meaningful role for him). But I do love it overall, especially all the easter eggs and that creepy animal cult still going after the squirrel. Kudos for getting Jim Cummings back as the Owl, one of my all time favorite AT characters.

I loved the quick Flapjack scene. I totally did not put 2 and 2 together that Cake's voice is Bubbie.

You are right about “another child sidekick”. The two’s from distant lands (that bunny with BMO and a glass kid with PB and Marcy, now Astrid took this place. Seems like a trend to me 🤷‍♀️

In a way, same. I think it’s sorta a choice worse than death. It’s rejecting life whilst living on in painless oblivion. Escapism though emotional numbness (or in IK’s case, not being able to process feelings). It’s no coincidence Simon keeps grabbing the beers to drown out his sorrow- the next step is to drown out of life for good. I think him being Ice King again, in this kind of state, is just a really depressing message. Simon feels purposeless and useless. Making him Ice King again kinda affirms that, yes, actually the answer to depression is escapism and running from the challenges of life. He could spiral even further than he currently is, I guess. But that’s not satisfying or new because we already saw Simon spiral into madness.

Thwy weren't as strong as the first two, but if the first two are A+, then these new two episodes are solid As. Im looking forward to the next batch episodes, since the dimensional travel will probably start!

I mean , i understand the joy of Fiona and cake to discover a magic world ... but they ar more jerks .. they attacked innocent people because they don't fully realize that we are not in video games . They gonna realize like Finn when he was a kid that this world can be dangerous and traumatizing. I really love this because Fionna remind me when Finn when he was selfish after his breakup with FP ( like Fionna and DJ Flamme).. i really think she gonna learn have more empathy toward others Simon want to help fionna and cake but more like a way to escape : he want to be ice king to not have to think anymore. Fionna dont know how Ice King was miserable and lonely ( she judges him "happy" for what 1 minuts of a video show by prismo)

clearly was our finn and jake, seems like jake is having a little trouble keeping up and finn feels the need to watch out for him which is exactly what was hinted at toward the end of jakes life in together again. come on guys…..

i also thought episode 3 wasn't as enjoyable personally. i thought cake's characterization was spot on, especially with her being a cat, but i got uncomfortable watching her terrorize those shoppers + the way fionna interacted with them as well. it's might be because they probably don't see those guys as people yet (though i dont think that wouldve stopped cake anyway)

was it ever confirmed that the tattoo was a memorial? he had it in obsidian when he was still a twink and it doesnt seem out of character for finn to get a tattoo of jake for any number of reasons. personally, prismo watching finn and jake in the beginning seems more like its just an adventure before he died via rewinds rather than an alternate universe where finn got the tattoo and jakes still alive

calling it here Simon puts on the crown simon and betty reunite in the crown and Simon Becomes the ice prince a mix between ice king and simon mainly because i know the adventure time creators love their foreshadowing and that seems to be what they are hinting at and Simon protects the sailor guardians

I hope so lol But I don't think Betty is coming back since her fusion with Golb is basically a metaphor for her dead and Simon dealing with being a widow. I think this series is gonna be about letting go and embracing a new, happy self and Simon learning to enjoy magic since he never had the chance to do that

I keep seeing people talking about the tattoo of Jake like fin got it because Jake died... did no one watch distant lands Yes this is after but I could swear fin says he's fine I just like remembering him about the tattoo.... I have seen some good theory's about him being dead and that's why prismo is depressed too and this scene might be an alternate universe where Jake is still alive but Jake being dead is not the reason fin got the tattoo

I would love to hear your thoughts about the location of Old Man Prismo sleeping. Have you noticed that the sleeping place, is actually very similar to the shape of Golb's face? Where Old Man Prismo is sleeping, the walls around him form a square topped by a triangle, with four green circles in the same positions as Golb's eyes. The sleeping place with the stairs mimics Golb's mouth. I would seriously love to hear what you think about this. It feels very significant to me and I'm going crazy thinking about it by myself haha

Somehow adventure time has made the perfect young adult franchise, even with a multiverse. If this was made by anyone else it would feel like a soulless nostalgia cash grab but it doesn’t. That’s what happens when you show is made by fans instead of corporations

uhm the new lemon grab voice is definitely way better…. especially for the purpose of that scene which was just to freak everyone out, having a new even more dissonant and freaky lemon grab voice is just perfect. sick of these rancid takes
