Oddly, lion's mane has a very odd side effect for me - my mouth, nose, and skin feel dried out after taking it. If tried small doses, a few days on a few days off, and different brands. It's very strange. Would've like to have been able to take it for the brain benefits. I have alpha gpc on hand instead, which I don't get any noticeable negative side effects from.

T.D. has given us the keys to make the ultimate uber pre-workout. On a side note I have cacao, green tea (Japanese macha) and turmeric+ginger+cayenne+black pepper+cumin in my coffee everyone morning in a fasted state before I go to the gym (before I go to work). When I added that spice mix it amped me up more than anything else. It's so effective I have a second coffee a few hours after my work out and I'm re-energized and ready to tackle any and everything. I did that several years back when I read about all the different health benefits of spices, but also that capsaicin increases metabolism and fat burning. Definitely don't drink your coffee with it on the edge of too hot if you put a dense dose of it in there or your stomach will feel uncomfortably hot, but that is easily countered with some cool water. I would like to see a video on non-natural substances like piracetam and aniracetam. Piracetam I used to take religously but eventually got to the point to where it didn't seem to work the same for me. I read somewhere that the benefits from using it don't taper off and go away, the benefits are somewhat permanent. I now only take aniracetam and I get very creative ideas. The coffee spice mix energizes me, the aniraceam brings out more creativity. The two together are rocket fuel.

For anxiety, I started with GABA which had an instantaneous positive effect. Then, after more research, I replaced that with ashwaganda. I add rhodiola especially when excercising and/or any physically exerting / manual labor project. But ashwaganda is my main anti-anxiety substance. If I need more calming down, I'll add l-theanine. Http and l-tyrosine tend to make me sleepy. EDIT: since then I discovered I'd had a magnesium deficiency and about 3-500mg a day of magnesium bisglycinate and mag malate are the main things I take specifically for anxiety and stress now. I also have to exercise and sleep well and have educated myself and improved my macro and micro nutrition in general. I make sure I get all the micronutrients I need and the right amounts and forms and I take apple cider vinegar to help digest and absorb them. Along with healthy fats for the fat soluble vitamins.

@@AJBuddha I added some more information to my original comment. Turns out I had a serious magnesium deficiency. As for you're not experiencing results with these, it can take a bit of education and trial and error to try and determine the causes and possible solutions for each individual. It definitely can be quite an individual thing - where one person's experience, issues and root causes respond to and require different solutions.

Im just an amateur but the thing with lions mane is that its not that instant. You usually need to take it for a while (two weeks or so) to get the full effects. its a long term thing if you want to really want change and improvement. But i find it still leaves you in a better spot than you started. Nerve growth lasts. I wonder if mixing it with the coffee speeds that whole process up. Personally I'm just not big on coffee because it just seems like an addiction thats too commonly accepted so it commercialised. Thats just my take tho. In moderation it's fine.

What are your thoughts on ashwagandha? it’s more so classified as an adaptogen rather then a nootropic, but it has some nootropic effects. It’s a natural herb, and I’m wondering if it can have the same negative affects of cognitive decline and growing a dependency as some of the other nootropics. Being this is a natural herb that’s been used for centuries I assume it’s safe or maybe safer, I would just like your input.

I have adrenal exhaustion from years of stress and life challenges. I find that when a bear jumps out of the woods at me I barely care. Also, I used to be pretty quick at learning things and new skills but now I have to struggle to concentrate. It's like my brain is in a fog. I had some tests done and they said I have adrenal exhaustion but I'm not sure how to treat it naturally. I do keto and IF and I avoid processed veggie oils and all the nasty food ingredients. I do try to eat clean, at least avoid all the worst ingredients. I also do rely heavily on caffeine to keep me going.

you might want to take a break from keto and do some carb cycling for a bit. Don't forget that keto is a pretty good stressor on the body in terms of the body thinking its in starvation mode (Thomas has a video on this). Adding some high carb days and lower fat for a bit to let the body adapt back to glucose might help you. metabolic flexibility is key and maybe the way you feel is a sign you need a break from ketosis and intermittent fasting. Fasting is also very stressful on the body and doing it continuously may not be the best thing either. Everything in moderation I suppose. Also, it could be a lack of proper electrolytes in the body which is super important on keto. You may not be replenishing sodium, potassium and magnesium as much as you think you are and what your body specifically needs. idk, just a thought. Keto is a great lifestyle when done properly. You have to know what you're doing and nailing everything to a T as far as nutrients is concerned. Take a break and eat clean organic sprouted carbs and protein with some fat and see how that goes.

@@jond.6816 I tried that and gained 40 lbs. I'm pre-diabetic. I've now cut carbs again for the past week and I'm already starting to feel better. I'm not doing keto. I'm just focusing now on carb control. I get some carbs from healthy vegetables but I'm not interested in fat bombs and trying to get a lot of dietary fat. I'm watching both carbs and fat now. I don't buy lowfat foods but I don't go out of my way to add extra fat as my body is it's own fat bomb. If it needs fat, it can pull it from it's stores. I have very severe type 2 diabetes that runs in my family. I don't have it, but only because I tend to go back on low carb when I get to a certain point. I tend to do best on a meat and mostly green veggie/fruit diet. (broccoli, spinach, kale, avocado, lettuces, brussel sprouts, celery, cucumber, cabbage, green beans, etc. I do eat other color low carb veggies but the bulk is green). When I eat like this I lose the weight pretty fast and start feeling good again. My problem is when I go off of it for any length of time, because I like junk food, like pizza, carby fried take out. I know it's bad when I cave into that. For the most part, I'm pretty strict to avoid the unhealthy vegetable oils. I use mostly, butter, ghee, extra virgin olive, coconut, and avocado oil from chosen foods. I use primal kitchen dressings and mayo which use avocado oil. I hate that I have to pay so much more to eat uncontaminated food. What is happening in our food supply is a crime against humanity and is largely responsible for the health and obesity epidemic.

Pity he didn't mention oxalates. Unfortunately turmeric is very high in them, indeed all of these things are. I drink 3-4 cups of green tea daily, but I now add lemon juice to neutralize the oxalate content. I'm hoping 10-20g daily of raw cacao is not too high in oxalates.

Tumeric, Chocolate, and Tea are very high in oxalates and can lead to kidney stones if taken in excess. Can you talk about Keto Low Oxalate diet please?

The most interesting thing for me is that you were once so... opposed to Nootropics. It is surprising. Nevertheless, you are a good guy. I subscribed to your channel.

You says “turmeric as a whole” and “a lot of people put too much focus on curcumin and take it for granted” but every study you pull up specifically references curcumin 🤔 What are the other beneficial compounds in turmeric outside of curcumin?
