"When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home."

My heart felt sympathy goes out to the FD and the family of the Fallen Hero's as that they were. I grew up listening to the scanner as my dad Retired Lt with Tumwater FD in Tumwater, WA. My brother is now a Lt with Olympia FD in Olympia, WA and President of the Union. I used to stay up listening to the tones and I knew by those tones who was going out and I knew who was working the shifts. We have lost many a good man. They love the job they do or they wouldn't be doing it. They are for sure Hero's. May they RIP and the family have closure and remember that they went doing what they loved and lived for...Helping others. Hero's to the end and they will Never be Forgotten. The hardest part for me is the Final Tones and the ringing of the bell, the folding of the flag and handing it to the family. My prayers to the whole FD family because that is what it is about and that is what we are...Family! God Bless you all <3
