Read an amazing article about this (I'll find and link) as a kid/teenager and it haunted me. So devastating....and that type of building must have been terrifying to walk into.

This year marks the 15th anniversary that night I was only 4 at the time but to here the stress and struggles is something that will forever live on. Those men did not die for nothing they die doing something they loved something that they have always know. R.I.P to those 6 Heros

the six fallen Heros that died was on December 4th or 8th 1999 this was the 14 2011 this fire killed only one veteran firefighter

RIP Brother Davies. Another loss for the Worcester FD. In my 30 years as a Dispatcher in Warwick RI I am grateful that I did not have to send any of these communications. Stay well in Worcester and mourn together.

There was absolutely no reason for them to be going back in. This is all on command. He had already sounded the tones for evacuation then sent them back in for a secondary search even though the building was collapsing and had been fully involved for over 30 minutes. That’s not survivable conditions. Why?? Risk vs reward. That’s reckless.

I saw this fire on NBC and said to my partner at work that Worcester was the FD that lost 6 guys and then the text came up saying firefighter killed. Such a tragic thing. God Bless WFD and their families. Rest easy, brother!

That is true some of the time but in reality of those 100 or so deaths a large majority are actually health related, the most common heart attacks.

abffchick17 Your comment is old, but I must reply. Yes, lifestyle and diet plays a role, but so does prolonged exposure to smoke, chemicals, and the stress of your heart going from sleeping to 100mph in the middle of the night. To downplay that prolonged stress is wrong.
