In this episode of The Herbalist Hour I'm joined by Alex Williams.
Amanda and I recently drove down to Chicago to hang out with Alex for this interview.
I knew after meeting him at the Great Lakes Herb Faire we'd absolutely need to connect as he is a fascinating and lovely human doing some pretty awesome work in his neck of the woods.
We chat about his herbal origins, mentors, his work at First Curve Apothecary and a whole lot more.
There's even some freestyle haikus thrown in the mix for good measure.
I know you're goin' to love this one!
See you in the next episode,
~Mason

Whoa! Absolutely loved this interview. The created-on-the spot haiku was fabulous! Alex is so cool- how you move beyond the block... make it playful... that was spot on advice. I'll check out the books he recommended too. Thank you Mason for another great interview and chat!

Yeah that was fun how Alex put it back on me to create an impromptu haiku. Didn't know I had it in me lol. But seriously, this was one of my fave interviews. Always love the in-person ones. Glad you enjoyed it as well! ~Mason

Great conversation speaking to many of the important and wonderful aspects of being an herbalist. The Dale Pendell books are wonderful and an interesting read. Loved the mention of working with plants more consciously. Stephen Harrod Buhner's works speaking to the heart as a primary perception organ and plant intelligence come to mind. Bioregional herbalism is a big focus of mine as well, I think the plants we need are always within reach. Cheers!

Loved, loved, loved this conversation. So much of what Alex spoke about is in line with the things that I value most. Thank you for this conversation and the openness in the sharings. I immediately purchased one of the books that Alex mentioned- "Inflamed: Deep Medicine and the Anatomy of Injustice" and look forward to the read. Thanks, Mason & Amanda, for continuing to put out really meaningful content. It brings me so much hope knowing that there are people out in the world who truly care.
