@codieroper3335
@codieroper3335 3 жыл бұрын
Not exactly I’m the 70s it was nearly impossible to get a 3 minute track on lp much less six minutes. Rossingtons intro is actually shortened as well as Collins solo dramatically. The song actually pioneered longer track times due to the popularity of the solo. Fast forward till it was famous and being requested nightly, at this point free bird lasted around 12 minutes and included solos by rossimgton Collins and even Powell’s beautiful piano, whenever Ronnie was tired or felt strained him and the band would literally let Cassies younger brother steve take over notice the soulful jazzy vibe skynyrd came into yep steve. Ronnie himself said that he was young but eventually skynyrd the band would be In his shadow. Which is ironic considering his beautiful single one in the sun. Skynyrd is probably my favorite band of all time not only seeing there future with Collins and rossington in good health but steve man what that kid was going to do the world truly wasn’t ready for. But anyway I’m ranting, but look up Ronnie van zant on steve in one interview he states that when he would feel comfortable leaving a gig early with Steve on vocals and lead guitar. Too many legends lost in one bad night..

Free Bird is legendary for a reason. I remember seeing footage of this song performed live (on The Old Grey Whistle Test I believe) and it went on even longer, the two guitarists spent about 5 minutes dueling one another on stage and the lead singer tried to signal for the song to end at least 5 times but constantly getting shut down by them amping up their battle even further.
