As you proceeded to walk around the truck and say “tailgate is pretty well trashed” my jaw dropped 😳😦😦. Damn son i would say so 😅😅😂😂😂. Nice truck I prefer my old Chevrolet and GMC trucks but I like the fords aswell. My old 77GMC is still on the road and is completely original 350/350 it’s never even had the old Qjet rebuilt or the fuel pump replaced. Been a farm truck all of its life. It’s pretty wild how tuff the old trucks are

Hi John, Thank you for the comment. I have been on many trips through the outer skirts of Ontario, Canada. I have spent alot of time in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. I have many friends in that region. Being from the US, I have seen a few in Canada that have made me want to get this truck running. My grandpa was a farmer and a caretaker of a local cemetery. He used his truck to dig the dirt by hand and throw it in the back of his truck. Thus, the reason for having the dump bed. I am one lucky grandson to have this gem. I appreciate the comment. Cheers back at you my friend.

Hey Paul, thanks for the advice. I have heard that using Mystery oil is the best to use. I just used WD-40 to make sure it wasn't locked up and there was some type of lubricant on the seals when I turned the fan blade manually, before I started it. Just didn't want it to tear any seals at that point. After it started, it blew out the WD-40 with white smoke until the engine oil kicked in. No busting balls taken:) Good advice my man. Thanks. Your neighbors truck sounds awesome. I had a friend that had a 1979 F-150 with those same bright orange and white stripes and it was a gem. Sounds like a cool truck. Good ole days. Alot of people didn't think that I would get that old truck running again. I have news for them. I will make that truck sound again and it will be on the road again soon. My grandpa was a good man. Thanks for the comment.

Hey Scrapy 5672. I am doing my best to get this old Ford back on the road as a daily driver. It's a step by step process for sure. The dump bed on this truck has it own story. The dump bed was installed after my grandpa bought it. He was a farmer and the caretaker of the local cemetery until 1990. He dug graves by hand and loaded the truck with dirt. This was his greatest asset during those 42 years of being a caretaker. When the dump bed was installed, my dad, uncle and myself drove the truck back through the blizzard of 1978. An hour trip back home, turned into a 6 hour trip. What a memory with this truck. Thanks for the interest.

@cshell3654 3 жыл бұрын
Coty, Thanks for the comment. I will be having future videos for the clean up process. Stay tuned for future videos on that. I have thought about a nuts and bolts restore from the ground up. Unfortunately, I do not have that kind of $$$ sitting around to do something like that now. Hopefully, in the future. That would be awesome. During the 4th of July, I envy those guys who have their trucks in mint condition for the car shows. In my comment section below Peter Selten from Australia mentioned that this truck was a special order with this specific decals on the truck. I spoke to my Dad about Peters findings on my Grandpas truck. My Dad said Peter was correct. This was a special order, because my Grandpa liked the black with red decals, for which I was only 11 years old at the time, and I did not know that. As far as the decal recreation, if you know of any vinyl shops that can recreate the decals, that would be great to have those contacts, just in case I do a full paint job and decal restore. About the hub caps, I am lucky to have all 4 of them in great shape. My Grandpa really loved that truck and I consider myself a very lucky grandson who wanted to keep it the family for my kids. Thanks again for your comment.
