Love the enthusiasm! All us Band Maid fans understand the feeling all too well. In my 55 years on Earth I haven’t been this excited about a rock or metal band since the titans of music that came out of the 60’s, 70’s, and early 80’s. Next I suggest “Manners/Black Hole” (2 song official live video), “Warning” music video because it’s a great video, even though the live vid is really good too, “Onset” live, and “Blooming” music video (awesome song, no good quality live vid of it).

Japan has a long tradition of Girls with Guitars. One of the oldest active Girls-Band is Show-ya since the 80s. But since the years around 2010 many bands grown up. Band-Maid Gacharic-Spin Silent Siren Scandal (they have this year a world tour with stages in Europe) Aldious Passcode Lovebites Nemophila and more and more. btw. This year Band-Maid has an US-Tour, but they is mostly sold out. Last concerts in Europa was 2018/19. They have a great internat. I would say a tour in Europe is almost a certainty, the question is when. Assuming the Ukraine thing doesn't drag on all the way into next year, I would assume spring 2023. Well, if you like rock music, these ladies set the bar so high that no other band will surpass it so quickly. And believe me, you haven't even begun to scratch the surface of what these ladies are capable of. All five of them have the looks and talent, for which even the sky is not the limit. At the same time, you won't find anything like ego, or that it's about a single one of them. Many claim that a band like this hasn't been around for decades, and I just can't disagree with those statements. For me, they have completely revived this genre, which I thought was dead already many years ago. And claims that they don't have a bad song seem to be completely exaggerated at first glance, but I can only state that out of the more than 100 titles that their catalogue now includes, I don't call any of them as such. That's why you can actually roll the "DICE" on where your journey with this band goes after this. You have complete 'FREEDOM' and the destination will always be the same in the end. A true 'WONDERLAND'. :) Welcome to the pigeon-hole from a German Maidiac! _____________________ 「 _'Our rock never dies ever. Forever!'_ 」 --- from *BAND-MAID* 'Manners' 🕊️

For one of their songs with a great drum solo, try the live video of "Freedom". For a similar group with 2 featured guitarists that really shred - Lovebite's live song "Signs of Deliverance". While Band-Maid is considered more hard rock, Lovebites is usually more metal, but one of their guitarists sometimes plays classical piano intros to songs. Lovebites played Bloodstock in 2018, and some of that is on KZfaq.

Their performance was spot on at Bloodstock, as always, but they were moved to the main stage at the last minute, and the sound had not been mixed for them, so the audio quality is very subpar. Welcome to the Pigeon-Hole Po! Like others say, you aint seen nothing yet! I'm old, I'm from the UK, been around the block. Let me tell you something. If you forget they are from Japan, are all female and dress as maids you STILL have discovered one of the greatest rock bands in existence. In my humble opinion - they are the best all round band I have ever heard. The don't stick to any genre - you will hear classic rock, punk, groove, blues, metal and prog with some jazz thrown in from this band, often in the same song. They are extremely talented. Best bit? They are really nice people with absolutely no ego. They are loyal to their fans. They are FUN, they are funny and their music is deadly serious! Check out 'Play' LIVE, 'Real Existence' LIVE, or the mind blowing instrumental 'Onset' LIVE. I recommend the double live of 'Manners' (blues groove rock) and 'Black Hole' (220 bpm utter madness). For music video's check out 'Dice', 'Warning' or 'Rinne' (Reincarnation). Enjoy the journey! Respect.

They really are THE best Rock band in existence - 5 superb, gifted musicians and singers who write lyrics with real depth and compose absolutely outstanding songs every single time. Choose any live performance, any MV, any side project, any fancam (but Vladimir Chupin has the best on his YT channel, as any Maidiac - yep, that's a thing too - will tell you). The song before this was the in-yer-face 'PLAY' ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/abKoi8KlmdzLZ4k.html ) and another 2 superb ones from this concert would be 'FREEDOM', which has an extended drum solo ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fL93lrJznbnDcYE.html ) and 'WONDERLAND, which has the most glorious vocals from Saiki, the lead singer ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rpqYq6-WrcjViqM.html ) . Lead guitarist (and principal music composer) Kanami Tōno plays a PRS Custom 24. The rhythm guitarist Miku Kobato plays a metal front Zemaitis. Miku has quite a few, including a signature model. She writes most of the lyrics, and usually sings back up vocals. Many of their albums also have a track that she sings lead on. Bassist MISA plays a five-stringed custom Black Cloud. Their drummer is Akane Hirose. She also does a lot of their sequencing. Saiki Atsumi is the lead singer and does occasional backing vocals.

Check out their songs "Blooming", "Daydreaming" for amazing vocals, "Onset" for an incredible display of every one of their instrumental talents, "Freedom" for the best female drum solo ever performed (and a prime example of why the drummer Akane Hirose is hailed by Jimmy Page as the reincarnation of John Bonham).

FROM JAPAN ◆ Thank you for your reaction to BAND-MAID. BAND-MAID is a real hard rock band. BAND-MAID is celebrating its 9th year of formation. BAND was formed by a girl who came to Tokyo from a local city Kumamoto of Japan to become a singer when she was about 19 years old. Five unique and talented girls gathered. The members have not changed, and they are continuing their efforts to improve their playing ability. They are constantly writing new songs and cool songs. Three new songs were released at the end of October. BAND-MAID is a hard rock band, but it's a very diverse band. Listen to different types of songs. 1 Thrill : The first music video that saved them from dissolution. Classic rock 2014 2 Sense : The theme song of the anime "Platinum End". Dramatic, fast hard rock with a classic intro. 2021.10 3 Bubble : A tribute to the movie Bohemian Rhapsody, funky rock 4 Different : First anime opening song, new sense of high-speed rock. Anime is "Log Horizon 3rd season". 2020.12 5 Daydreaming : Beautiful power ballad. Saiki and Kobato vocals and Kanami's guitar solo are wonderful. 6 Dice : Rhythmic hard rock singing women's independence. The girl blindfolded in the dark removes the blindfold at the end of the song and starts walking into the light. 7 about us : A gift for fans who cannot meet in a pandemic. Beautiful ballad. 2021.02 8 Freedom : A power rock that walks around the stage and conveys a smile. The transition from drum solo to lead guitar is the best. 9 Manners : Declaration to create new hard rock while inheriting classic rock. Cool hard rock. Rock'n'Roll never die. 10 alone : The song they wrote, composed and released for the first time. Medium speed Hard Rock 2016 11 Secret My Lips & Secret Maiko Lips : Funky Hard Rock. A gift for fans of April Fool's Day . 12 Blooming : Vocals and chorus are impressive, and various types of music are fused. 13 RINNE : High-speed rhythmic heavy rock, inspired by the Japanese horror movie "RINNE : Reincarnation". RINNE (Reincarnation) is also found in Eastern thought and Buddhist thought. 14 onset : Instrumental song for lead singer Saiki breaks, their great playing power and harmony. 15 Play : A song composed as an instrumental song, but Miku added lyrics as Saiki liked it. With different intros depending on the live. 16 Before Yesterday : Record of the first overseas performance, Sakura-Con in Seattle 2016. Melodic Rock with great lyrics. 17 Choose me : An insert song of the concert scene the Netflix movie KATE, they appeared as BAND MAID. Cool rock song. 18 Dragon Cries : The only song produced by Tony Visconti. It's not their lyrics, but it sings about the future of human society and the earth. Great Heavy Classic Rock . 19 After Life : A homage to the maid cafe and band formation where Kobato worked. BAND-MAID Hard Rock . 20 Black Hole : Their fastest song. The speed is 220 BPM. Akane repeats her practice and now she is drumming with a smile. 21 Corallium : The song that Saiki wrote all the lyrics for the first time. Hip pop style dancing hard rock. Added ★ Peace & Love ・ POGO : Founder Miku Kobato's solo project. Pigeon saves the world. Funky pop rock.

Dude, be relaxed and think that you are like in a marathon race. They have close to 120 songs and all amazing. Honestly you have no idea...yes, no idea. The best band in the world imho no doubt... I mean male, female, animal or plastic. Try always the live performances. Everything you need they have: pop, hard, funk, speed, metal, jazz, punk, blues, trash, rap and usually during the same song. Every concert of The MAIDS is an exercise of 'happy' demolition. Be ready and pick any song...it doesn't matter. Congrats as you are running directly to the happiness

Much as I'm a complete and utter Maidiac and could never praise Band-Maid enough, since you mentioned you love Metal and as Band-Maid are more Rock with added Metal (and other genres too) then I suppose we have to do the decent thing and tell you to look at the 100% Metal, all-female Japanese band called Lovebites. Try anything live from them and you will have a similar reaction to what you just had and then some. My first Metal gig was Sabbath in 1976 and my last was Babymetal in 2020 but if I could see one 100% MetalAF band, it would be Lovebites. Looking forward to watching your Metal brain explode with joy when you do check them out (as a lover of 70's and 80's Metal I know you will freak when you see Lovebites. Oh, there's also the all-female and Japanese Nemophilia...and Ningen Isu...and Wagakki Band...and Gacharic Spin...and...well, basically you won't have to listen to anything from the West any more because Japan is a treasure chest of Metal and Rock talent of the highest order. Though The Warning from Mexico kick ass too (yep, all female, all talentedAF, etc). 🤘🎸

Big Bonnet has already seconded Mr. Halford's comment, so I shall Third it. All the bands mentioned are all women and all excel at what they do. Nemophila, like Band-Maid, can do a fine job on a variety of songs, but their heavy ones in particular are freakin' great. Named after a genus of flower with 5 petals (5 members). Lovebites are largely speed metal, and world class. But they are introducing more elements now, which I like. They have opened for Dragonforce and Halestorm and have played quite a few metal festivals such as Wacken, Bloodstock, Donington etc. Hanabie is fairly new(?) but they are a wild ride. I don't even have words to describe them yet. Gacharic Spin has a wild energy too. They have been around for quite some time though and constantly have something new going on. Their recent stuff (Mindset and I Wish I) is leaning to jazz-rock fusion IMHO and is my favorite GS era yet. The videos for those are well done and artistic. But also check out live shows because they are lit. Let me add one, and again it's their recent form that impresses me most: if you like thrash metal? Moth in Lilac. Their one handed lead guitarist plays hard, using a thick custom pick in a clamping device attached to her right wrist. Their current lead singer can go full bellow like no one I've heard. And like the above groups, there are no weak links here. There are many, many great bands from Japan, including more hard rock and metal than the west has seen in ages.

This is one of their heavier songs but they have all types of songs across all rock genres - we like to say they are their own genre! Any song you choose is awesome - Dice - Puzzle - Rinne - After-Life - Warning - Real Existence Softer songs: - Daydreaming - Wonderland - About Us - Endless Story And the list goes on and on…🔥 Welcome to the Pigeon hole!

They haven't announced any dates for Europe (yet) but they're doing a tour in the USA in October (mostly sold out but there might still be tickets for an added show in New Jersey on Oct. 30, or tickets on the "resale market"). They doing a Japan tour in August and September but those are being sold in a lottery which makes it hard to commit to airfare.

Welcome aboard, Luke. You are embarking on (along with many others - 140 million YT views!) an awesome, progressive, hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid: BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Prog, Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Jazz, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Joy of Playing, Consistency (118 songs with their latest album, “Unseen World” and new single drops), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destined for mega-stardom. Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off-the-rails spectacular! Band-Maid is the only band in decades where I love nearly EVERY song they’ve done. I have over 70 favorites! "Thrill" (2014) is a great place to start: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i8qjaspkspOYnIU.html Their later songs from albums Unseen World, Conqueror, World Domination, Just Bring It, Brand New Maid, and New Beginning drive even more - Warning, No God, Different, Black Hole, Sense, Rinne, Blooming, Moratorium, Domination, Clang, Dice, Spirit, Don’t You Tell Me, Turn Me On, Fate, Play, Hide-And-Seek, Secret My Lips, Puzzle, Glory, Choose Me, I Can’t Live Without You, and on and on. But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, About Us, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, At The Drop Of A Hat, Mirage and Smile... or more punky like After Life, Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like Manners and The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or a bit jazzy like Wonderland… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series… or instrumentals like Don’t Be Long, Onset, Without Holding Back and Going Nuts… or their many acoustic versions like Catharsis! And many songs are represented with over 40 well produced music videos. kzfaq.info Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYU-JI concerts:  Tokyo's LINE CUBE SHIBUYA on February 14th (“Domination” kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h8iphKZ705zWiZs.html)  ZEPP 2018  Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 (The last two are on bandmaidprime.tokyo) And some of the better 2019 tour Fan vids are excellent. Here’s two of what it’s like to see Band-Maid LIVE at super intimate venues:  Taken by Vladimir Chupin in Hamburg: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/lcVhp8toyNrLfaM.html  And by JOSER8845 in LA: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q9mHjdmdrK2og6c.html. If you like Band-Maid, make sure to support them by purchasing some concert tickets, CD, DVD/BD & Merch, etc. bandmaid.tokyo Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid. For fun, check out an awesome, little known "Mega Band-Maid Mix" by DJ Ray of some of their earlier stuff: facebook.com/djrayboston/videos/1004709499579009 Band-Maid Members: Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “Ice Queen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies. At 28 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away her sometimes perceived, coldish persona. Saiki’s powerhouse performances, charisma, and voice focus the experience that’s driven her to the top echelon of hard rock frontwomen... or frontmen! Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 30 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kuruppo! No, no, no… KURUPPO!! Kanami Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 30 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more! Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 31 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party! MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass, 29 years old. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note... uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA! Maidiacs (Maid-e-acts) - Band-Maid’s crazed yet supportive, knowledgeable and loyal Super Fans. [BAND-MAID NEWS]  BAND-MAID PRIME - Special Video Distribution Website. ** NEW ** Along with nearly 50 great play-through’s by each member, concerts and skits, Band-Maid management / label(s) have finally included the ZEPP 2018 and Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 concerts at their Prime website! Fans can now see more than 50 great live performances with awesome audio, etc. like Fate, I Can't Live Without You and the great MISA / Kanami exchange in Don't You Tell Me. Thank you for reacting to Band Maid. Now for the info dump: Band Maid was started in 2013 by Miku Kobato. At the time she had just left the Idol Group, Lil Cumin and she didn't like the type of music she had been performing. She approached her management agency with the idea of making an actual band playing rock music but dressed as maids. She had worked in a Maid Cafe and thought the image of maids playing rockin music would create what she called "The Gap" between what you see and what you hear. The Management company was like Ok, go ahead. Miku then looked around and found Kanami a singer/songwriter who was posting her own videos on the internet. Miku contacted her and Kanami thought the idea was cool and agreed to join. Miku then asked if Kanami knew a drummer who might be interested. Kanami had worked with Akane in the past and literally walked over to Akane's apartment and asked her. Akane was actually hesitant as she had worked in an "All Girl Group" before and didn't enjoy it as it wasn't the type of music she wanted to play. After hearing a Demo, Akane was like ok, but was still slightly hesitant because of the "Maid Outfits", but she agreed to give it a try. Akane was asked if she knew a bass player and she had gone to Tokyo School of Music with MISA and had worked a couple of jobs with her. So Misa was contacted and after she heard a demo she was like I like the music, but she also was hesitant about the "Maid Outfits", but she relented and joined in as she really wanted to play the kind of music she heard in the demo. Now we have the "Core" members. I'm not too sure about the part but if I am wrong other Maidiacs will correct me in the comments. The 4 members worked out some songs and a setlist and from my understanding, they had actually performed 2 or 3 times with just Miku on main vocals. I may be wrong on that so don't take that as canon. Miku after those performances felt that her voice wasn't powerful enough to really perform the songs she wanted. So she approached her management company again and asked if they had any singers who weren't in other projects. Saiki was signed to the same management company and had done some work as a backup singer and dancer and was asked if she would be interested in auditioning for this new group which currently had 4 members and she would be the fifth. (I'm not sure about this part as I can't find the comment I read over on Reddit) She had been a member of a group with 8 other people and HATED it. So she listened to the demo and thought "Cool" because she liked the music. Now we come to the tricky part. Miku KNEW that if Saiki was told about the "Maid Outfits" she would say NO WAY!, so they didn't tell her. They told her they would have "Cool Clothes", and she never met Miku until a few days before they had a contracted performance. She wasn't told about the "Maid Outfits" until I believe it was 2 days before the performance, and she had considered backing out, but she had signed the contract. So the Ladies, went and did the performance and Saiki really, REALLY liked the crowds reaction and the music they were performing. She DIDN'T like the apron she wore so it got ditched after the first performance. And you now have the beginnings of the BEST LIVE HARD ROCK BAND in the WORLD! ALL HAIL BAND MAID!!!!! Now that we have the Full band, it was felt that there needed to be a second guitar. Saiki was like, "Not Me, Now Way." So Miku said, "I'll do it.", at first that was literally all she did, was hhold the guitar and mime playing it, until Akane said, if you are going to hold it, you NEED to learn to play it. And Miku said, "Ok.", and Kanami started to teach Miku how to play. The Ladies released their first album in 2014 "Maid in Japan" which only charted to #26 in Japan. Then in 2015 they released "New Beginning" On New Beginning was the song that changed Band Maid's entire existence. "Thrill"... The band was getting ready to release their first music video and the choice was between "Love, Passion, Matador" and "Thrill" and the ladies chose Thrill. This became the seminal moment of Band Maid. Because their second album hadn't even charted, the record company was seriously considering disbanding the Ladies and switching them to other projects. (In fact they had Kanami and Akane work with Mochi to Cheese thinking that when Band Maid cratered they could use them in another band). However about 6 months after the video's release, a Facebook page "JRock Radio" posted the video to their timeline. And the video went viral. Having over a million views in just a few short weeks. The Ladies Twitter page got so many hits they thought their page had been hacked. Their KZfaq channel also started getting more and more subscribers and views to Thrill. Now the ladies knew where their fans wanted them to go. Harder Rock, less pop. And history was Maid. Now for your next video by The Ladies to react to, I would recommend the song that they played immediately before this one. "Play" it is also available on their KZfaq page. Other songs from this same concert are Freedom, Wonderland and Choose Me. All VERY good songs. In reality, any Band Maid song is a good song. Their style/genre is considered to be all over the place. With Pop, Punk, Rock, Metal, Jazz, Rhythm & Blues, Grunge and all little bits of every other genre. If they feel it fits the song, Our Ladies will put it in.

BAND-MAID is five Japanese female rock musicians with amazing top notch skills. In my opinion, one of the best live hard rock band on the planet today. Member composition: Miku Kobato Founder of BAND-MAID, rhythm guitar, side vocals, main lyricist. Kobato means a small pigeon in Japanese. Kanami Tono She is a lead guitarist, the main composer, she is an elegant and quiet lady, but she awakens when she has a guitar. Tono means "far a way" in Japanese, and Kanami means "song" and "wave". MISA bassist. She feels the vibrations of the drums, so she plays barefoot on the stage. Akane Hirose drummer. She plays very tight and accurate drumming. Jimmy Page was impressed by her and visited the backstage. Akane means dark red in Japanese. Hirose means "flow of water such as wide rivers and seas". Saiki Main vocal She is the last member of BAND-MAID and makes the final decision on the BAND-MAID song. SAIKI means "vivid" and "princess". Next thing to listen to, my recommendation: BAND-MAID has a great variety of musicality, but it's best to watch live at first. Onset live, Freedom live, Play live etc.. After that, there are many other cool music videos on the official channel that will always make you happy. enjoy!

Nice reaction. Great to see someone lose their mind over hearing this group the first time. As mentioned they have over 100 tracks all of them have something to offer and many are, in my opinion masterpieces. The more you listen the more you hear, their songbooks for the last album reads like a symphony. I’m 72, lost my interest in American pop about the time autotune arrived and songs were written by committees based on computer algorithms. A couple years ago I stumbled on Thrill which the record company said that was the last record for them. It went viral and the rest is history, 8 or 9 years later still going strong. I have everything on imported vinyl and their dvd’s so much to analyze. I even dusted off my guitar and started playing again. For reactions I guess live is best. I understand the record company does not block reaction videos (99/100 are positive and after all a form of advertising) they are coming to America this fall, I’m flying down to Houston from Toronto then a week later New York. Before the USA tour they will be also playing live in Japan this summer. The USA shows are sold out but plenty of tickets available from the resellers. Best wishes on your musical exploration. I’d say that these are not heavy metal although they have elements of metal, grunge, rock, ballads, pop, all outstanding musicians, MISA MISA MISA! Try Onset for the instrumental track, Freedom for the drum solo and sheer joy these girls show while playing. BTW you may have caught the bit where the group crowds around the drummer. They are pulling funny faces trying to throw her impeccable timing but of course they can’t. Cheers!

Awesome reaction! 🤘😎🤘BAND-MAID's music brings pure joy! Since I discovered them a little over 2 years ago, I haven't gone a day without listening to some of their music. I highly recommend as others have, the 2 song live video (It was a live stream because of Covid) for "Manners, BLACK HOLE". "Manners" is a groovy bluesy "Classic Rock" style song but with that BAND-MAID magic! "BLACK-HOLE" is a 220 bpm auditory assault of instrumental complexity with layered vocals weaving through the music and the lead vocals riding the wave of that sonic tsunami! I'm am looking forward to more reactions!

Brother, you’re videos make me smile. Your love of music is genuinely lovely. Thank you for listening to your viewers! Band Maid is absolutely awesome. I’m gonna jump the pond and go back in time and recommend a band I was obsessed with as a teenager. Green Jellö. They were most popular in the 90s. My personal favorites are “the bear song” “three little pigs” and “the misadventures of shitman” they were a group who started out as a “video band releasing soundtracks to their videos” and a notable early member of the band is Maynard from Tool and a Perfect Circle. Other notable songs include “cereal killer” where Maynard plays one of the cereal mascots killed by Toucan Son of Sam. Enjoy

In the past before the pandemic mess, they toured and were in Europe, UK - London at least - and small ones in USA and in Mexico at least once. Besides nearby countries in Asia. The fan base in USA (as well as elsewhere) has grown massively. They have more fans outside Japan than in. So when they announced they were going to be here this autumn, their people were flooded with requests. They keep having to shift to larger venues and more of them and can still only reach a fraction of us. So I hope they will have enough self care time in all this, but they love to tour and meet their fans directly and as you can see, give 200% every time. And I very much expect UK and Europe to be included. Band-Maid is considered hard rock, but one really can't put them in a box. They have many sounds and at times are quite prog-rock. They have produced about an album per year starting in 2014, and each in succession has been stronger in certain ways and more experimental. Their first two albums Maid in Japan and New Beginning have all songs written by others under the direction of their management, and sound somewhat more pop-rock but still with more energy and kick than the cutesy lame stuff one might expect. I still like them all. Then came the EP Yolo, followed by Brand New Maid, which was the first with music composed by Kanami the lead guitarist that they were allowed to record, "Alone." More meditative than Domination, but rich with interplay and subtle touches, AND with riffs that draw you in. One to check out? Many suggestions have been made. They have well over 100 songs out and not a bad one in the bunch, just some appeal to individual fans more than others. "Freedom" Live which originated on the same album with lyrics by second guitarist/second vocalist Miku, is often recommended especially from the February 14, 2020 concert, which has a sweet drum solo in the middle followed by one of the most awesome transitions in rock. They change things up all the time. Welcome to the pigeonhole. We'll explain that later - lots of lore with this band...

To simply put it Band Maid is the best hard rock band in the world . They easily have one of top bassist in the world , and one the best drummers who can play any genre mixed ..a lead guitarist and composer who hands down can out play just about anyone if she so chooses but is so humble a lead singer who can sing any genre and make you feel what she is singing . and a pigeon who will conquer and dominate everything she does just by her sure will and grit . these girls strive to do the best they can each and every song they love their fans just as much as we maidiacs love them to the point they wrote their fans 2 love letters a song called smile and a song called about us. Great react. As far as other songs to react to just pick any songs they don't have any bad songs . Long Live the PO!

Greatest rock band in the world right now! I found your channel through Tom MacDonald and now you've finally gotten around to my favorite band. Band-Maid is next level musically and just bring me joy. I like some songs more than others, but I haven't come across a bad one yet. You definitely need to go down the pigeon-hole! I recommend checking out the official live videos for "Freedom", "Real Existence" and "Onset", though honestly you could pick any of their videos and be impressed.

I'm 70 years old. I haven't paid attention to any metal music for about 35 years. Then I discovered these Japanese all girl groups Lovebites and Band-Maid and my joy is overwhelming. They always make me smile. The guitar shredding and drum solos are killer, but also the incongruity of the outfits cracks me up. They don't resort to the tired trope of chains and leather. They don't look like rejects from Game of Thrones. How refreshing.

So glad you finally took the dive into BAND-MAID! They are one of those groups that you can pick literally any of their tracks on KZfaq randomly and not be disappointed. The ladies simply do not make a bad song! They are doing a tour, but it's just the US so far as far as I know, and you better believe I got my tickets! For your next track, I highly recommend "THRILL" - You best start from the beginning, and that's their first track! For another recommendation, "Warning!" is one of my personal favorites. Another kick-ass Japanese female rock/metal group is Lovebites. For Korean rock, Rolling Quartz is one to check out. Maybe "Blaze" or "Good Night"

By the way, to your question of whether they've toured in the UK, yes they have a few times. Something to know about the band is that Miku (rhythm guitar) got the idea for the band from working in a maid cafe, and she imported maid cafe tropes into the band's image. One of those is "Omajinai Time," (magic spell time) where she talks to the audience while the other members take a break and sometimes goof off on stage behind her. Here is a really good example of Omajinai Time from a 2019 show in London where all the members had a go at playing drum solos. Note, she's fairly proficient in English but far from fluent, so she switches between English and Japanese a lot in her speaking (much like her lyrics), and she punctuates her phrases with "po," the Japanese onomatopoeia for a pigeon's call, because she is a pigeon. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rpyZhslomLLNgWQ.html&ab_channel=NerdOD

Hi there. Welcome to Band Maid. Yes, Baby Metal and Band Maid are completetly different entities. Baby Metal were put together by a commercial agency to sing and dance with a backing band a few years before Band Maid and did introduce the world to Japanese metal. I gather though that not all three of them even knew what metal music was. Band Maid, more hard rock than straight metal, were founded by Miku (Rhythm Guitar/Vocals- red flower) by first finding Kanami (Lead Guitar) on the internet as a singer song writer. She was a friend of Akane (Drums), who went to the same music school as Misa (Bass), then Saiki (Lead Vocals- Blue fower) was auditioned for the position when Miku decided that her voice was not strong enough on its own for the band. The Maid outfits come from the fact that Miku used to work in a Maid Cafe when she first moved to Tokyo to work. Enjoy

Mate! Greetings from a 73-year old French Bilbo who has lived for 46 years (after going to college to England) in Shizuoka City, Japan, under the benign care of Mount Fuji! It is always so much (healthy) fun to witness someone's discovery of Band Maid and see him/her falling into a bottomless rabbit hole to mingle with the World Maidiacs! I have seen and still continue to see respected veteran knowledgeable reactors fall prey to them! I am not going to bore you with repeating what all the fans justly say. Actually, although Band maid are the best, you ought to check very, very quickly the following bands a bit out of the ordinary and breaking the house: Asterism with a girl barely 20 playing hard, very hard and melodious difficult to classify instrumental outfit in the company of a 7-string bass and drummer (both males). Sokoninaru, a young trio rock and singing with another girl bassist. Glim Spanky with a woman singing like Janis Joplin (check Move Over). That is for a start. If you wish I can send you an over 100-odd Japanese band core list to run through for the rest of your life! Best regards, Robert-Gilles

YES! You had the same reaction I did when I first listened to them. A lot of people have echoed this, so I'm adding to reinforce the information: 1. Band-Maid's recorded music is awesome! They're even better live. They're playing in my city this October and tickets sold out in less than 2 days. I missed my opportunity. I hope you get the chance to see them. They've played in London in 2017 (O 2 Academy) & 2018 (The Dome). I'm sure they'll be coming back. 2. Recommendations for your next reaction (from official video releases): Manners/Black Hole, Thrill (when I first heard them), Onset (instrumental), Play, Choose Me 3. Recommendations for your own viewing/listening (so you don't get a copyright strike): Moratorium, Puzzle (original & acoustic - check out the lyrics too), Without Holding Back (instrumental), Take Me Higher, Clang Enjoy! 🤘

Great reaction dude! That's pretty much how I reacted when I first heard/saw them, just brings out your inner kid!!! You mentioned you didn't know of any all female heavy metal bands... There are a way more than you think! Sticking with the theme of Japan, a couple I'd recommend are - Lovebites - badass women that shred like hell! I'd recommend you start with any of Holy War (Live Tokyo DiverCity 2020), Shadowmaker (Live Tokyo 2021) or When Destinies Align (MV, or Live Tokyo 2021). - Nemophila - a newer band, just released their debut album earlier this year. They are on the heavier side! I'd recommend starting with Dissension or Revive. You thought Band Maid were sick (and they are)... but just wait!

Baby Metal girls dance and sing with a good sounding band in the background but Band-Maid consist of 5 amazing women who play their own instruments at top level. They also compose most if not all of their own songs. There is so much talent in that band that it blows my mind when I hear them play. I will see them in Seattle 10/12/22. You do very good reactions. It’s fun watching someone hear Band-Maid for the first time.
