The first time I heard her was in the soundtrack of the 1993 movie Point of No Return. I was no longer interested in the movie. I just wanted to see the credits so I could find out her name! Not only can she sing but she is a classically trained pianist also.

What Miss Simone did at the end: I don't think it is exactly "scat" singing but it is quite similar, so you would probably really enjoy scat singing. Scatting is improvised singing with syllables but without words. It is not easy to do, and not many people can master it. The undisputed MASTER of scat singing was Ella Fitzgerald (1917-1996).
