This guitar is not the same one in the 86 solo video. That one was the 5150 Kramer used for that album, this one is his original Frankenstrat guitar he built using numerous parts of of other guitars to create his original sound. This guitar was retired after this album/tour (1984) and wasn't brought back on tour until 2007 when they had their reunion with David Lee Roth. I was lucky enough to see it on Nov. 1st 2007 as I bought the 5 star VIP package for the Wash. D.C. Verizon Center show which came with a backstage pass, Stage tour, meet and greet and we got to tour both instrument huts on each side (Guitars/bass). Inside Ed's hut on a makeshift table was this legendary guitar being re-strung to get ready for showtime.

I read he was jamming on something & I can't remember who, but they said plug my guitar into that. He said mine don't sound like that. That's bcuz it was Eddie, his special built guitar & the unique way he played a guitar, it wasn't the amp! Eddie will always be the GOAT!! R.I.P Eddie Van Halen!! 🌹

I mean this is the stuff we grew up on. I was 10 and Mtv was on all day long at my house. Everyone loved this video, even the grownups. I literally sat here and said the dialogue along with it because I know it better than my social security number. So you can imagine how it is for some of us every time we hear about how things are "inappropriate" or someone gets cancelled. My eyes nearly roll right out of my head. 🙄 I felt much more comfortable in the world when teenage boys wanted to boink their stripper teachers. It made a hell of a lot more sense. That's for sure. I was watching another reaction to "Panama", I think it was LFR Family, and I wanted to cry because they don't make men like Dave anymore. 😢

The Frankenstrat was originally white and black, its a fender, Eddie built it in 1974, in 1979 he painted it red. 1983 he went to a Kramer 5150 that resembles the Frankenstrat. VH II Bumble Bee is pretty cool, black and yellow.

Eddie took the parts from Charvel, Fender strat, and Gibson les Paul guitars and built several of his own. This would be the same one from Jump, and from the Eruption solo you saw, but the original album was done with other guitars. According to Eddie, he had dozens of guitars and hundreds of parts. He did not like the strict sounds you could get from each and combined them with a Floyd Rose tremelo system to do dive bombs, to get his sound.

The guitar that Eddie Van Halen had in the video was his signature Red Frakenstrat guitar... the original guitar he had made from parts of different guitars that he put together. This one he designed w/ Fender Guitars, I believe... In later Van Halen videos, Eddie switched to the Music Man EVH guitar by Ernie Ball, which u see in the Van Halen videos for 'Poundcake' and 'Right now'. He moved on to Wolfgang EVH guitar by Peavy Guitars in the late 90's, when Van Halen's popularity went into decline... From this Van Halen album '1984' ... u can check out the songs 'Panama' ... "I'll wait" (Eddie plays keyboards on this) and 'Drop dead legs'... 🔥🔥🤘🤘With David Lee Roth on vocals, check out the songs "Ain't talkin' bout love" ... "Everybody wants some" ... 'Dance the night away'. ...and Sammy Hagar on vocals, try Van Halen's - 'Dreams' ... "When it's love" ... 'Right now' ... 'Poundcake' ... 'Finish what ya started'

Btw my guy, that guitar was custom built by EVH himself. Like he actually took a body and neck for 150 bucks put a guitar pickup from his other Gibson guitar. He spray painted the body too. That guitar basically created a new kind of guitar that became the benchmark for the 80s and beyond. This major innovation is just a little piece of what he left us guitar players with after he passed away in 2020. A true legend in every sense of the word. I envy people who got to see him live.

The teachers dancing around are Lillian Muller, a Norwegian model and Donna Rupert, Miss Canada - 1st runner-up. Also, the high school is John Marshall High. It was closed down due to funding issues. After filming, the band donated money to get it reopened.

OK, when you go down the Eddie Van Halen (EVH) guitar gear rabbit hole you better bring some food. Its a long and twisty trip. He had several guitars that all had that red/black/white stripe theme. There was also a black/white striped one and a yellow/black striped one called the Bumblebee. That one is very special. But one of his most iconic guitars was a red/black/white striped one that he built from scratch. Its called the Frankenstrat (a Stratocaster, or "Strat", is a Fender product but many many companies have copied it). The Frankenstrat had a selector switch and springs mounted in a body cavity just to confuse people. They didnt actually do anything. The Bumblebee was Eddie's main guitar for a time in the late 70s. Many classic Van Halen songs were recorded and performed with it. In 2004 Dimebag Darrell, founding member and guitarist for Pantera, was shot and killed on stage. At the funeral Eddie Van Halen placed the Bumblebee in a compartment built into Dime's custom made Kiss coffin. Eddie cried while paying his respects to Dime. RIP Eddie, Dime and Vinnie

HIS ORIGINAL GUITAR WAS DUBBED "FRANKENSTEIN". EDDIE TORE IT UP MAKING ALL KINDS OF CHANGES TO GET A SOUND NO OTHER GUITARIST HAD. HE LATER HAD OTHER GUITARS BUT HAD MANUFACTURERS BUILD THEM TO HIS SPECIFICATIONS TO KEEP HIS ORIGINAL SOUND, BUT ALSO TO GIVE HIM THE ABILITY TO CREATE MORE. THE MAN WAS A GUITAR GENIUS. YOU CAN FIND PICTURES OF "FRANKENSTEIN" MADE BY THE FENDER CUSTOM SHOP ALL BEAT UP TO CREATE EDDIE'S DISTINCT SOUND ON YOU TUBE.
