He didn't steal it from black people..he grew up with black people and was in love with gospel. Any time Elvis was asked who was the king of Rock and Roll his answer was anyone but him.

Elvis loved the black community. He once refused to perform unless his black backup singers were allowed to perform with him. Elvis got his way and then proceeded to parade them around the arena he was performing at in a Cadillac. Elvis deserved nothing but love from the black community. He was truly broken when MLK passed and wrote and performed “If I Can Dream” to honor him.

Yes, we know the truth. I think of myself as being blessed to be a fan and to have loved this man for over 50 years now. He was a beautiful looking man with an amazing, amazing talent and he was also a kind, caring, generous and humble person. People will find a reason to hate on him because they want to find a reason and they believe the rumours instead of finding out the truth for themselves. Thank you for your great reactions and all your lovely words about Elvis. You are a true fan now and, yes, he has captured your soul just like he has with millions of us.

@Calum Fitzpatrick so is this a rumour or fact? after the hay ride show. Elvis was plooking a girl. The condom breaks. Elvis shts himself. Drives the girl to the emergency room at the local hospital. Walks her in and then drives off and leaves her there alone to get a douche. Rumour or Fact?

He was actually so fabulously influenced by the black community and their ability to feel music, not just sing it, that it became part of him from a very young age. That's not stealing. That's not disrespectful to black people in any way whatsoever. It is the highest honour.

Elvis was a product of his time and sang what everybody was singing. He grew up in a slum, worshipped in black churches, while singing gospel music. “I knew Elvis very well. He was a most generous and likable guy Plus, he was one of the most talented people that ever lived. Let’s just say, they didn’t make a mistake when they called him The King.” - B B King

He did not just sing black peoples songs he sang everyones songs. Country jazz mexican italian Irish german gospel other rock Pop artists. Just songs that he loved. And when he sang The artist song its like being ordained. eg Bob Dylan said the most moving moment in his career was when el vis recorded one of his songs. Dolly Parton said she cried in bed for week when elvis recording one of her songs not work out... And by the way he spread black music Though out america and the globe. John Lennon said the world was desolate before elvis. Litte richard said elvis made his music popular.

When Mama passed last year, I walked in to that funeral home and they had Elvis playing for her...... I almost died myself. I didn't even tell them to do that. The guy that wrote her obituary knew she LOVED Elvis and he told them to put Elvis on for Mama. I know she's in heaven with my Dad on one arm and Elvis on the other arm.

Why elvis gotta go and do everything that was good even better? Because he could. We should be thankful, no matter his skin color. And it was better, not just because he put his elvis flavor to it, but because he truly felt what he was performing. It was heartfelt.

He later visited Elvis' grave at Graceland and cried when he read the inscription on his headstone..."He was a precious gift from God".......As an aside, Paul Simon's favorite song of all time is Elvis singing "Mystery Train"....much love for the King.......

I love your Elvis analysis, alot of people should be ashamed of not being an Elvis fan. Mine started at 6 years old now late 60's. Elvis was and will always be light years ahead of other vocalists now and probably ever -almost too good. And I now believe he was underrated which is a strange observation. Sometimes people hate perfection he had no right to be that good vocally, that handsome and with a tremendous personality. Unreal,

You couldn’t have expressed it any better when you said he kidnaps your soul. I used to say he’d grab your soul and hold on to it until you were feeling what he was feeling. The passion and emotions. I can’t get through this song without tears in my eyes. It hits you so deeply that you just close your eyes to block everything else out and then my eyes pop open because I don want to miss him performing either. Your reaction was so spot on. I thank you and Elvis thanks you. Because all he really wanted to do was inspire people with his music and he didn’t realize he was already doing it. In the movie, when he said no one will remember me, I just let out a sob because that was one time he was so wrong. Thank you for doing this. God bless. ❤

Didn't matter WHAT elvis sang, it was HIM singing it..his voice, his style, his charisma, his insane beauty...his dancing, his moves, his uniqueness, his interactions with his fans, his generosity, etc...If those so called other singers had 1/2 of what Elvis had they too would have been successful.

Elvis was a singer, not so much a singer song writer. He grew up around the colored music at the time. I'm sure some people would accuse him of stealing music, because of that. But if you learn the history of his early life, one would understand all he wanted to do is bring that music to for front. His legacy is known for being one of the most generous singers. And now over 60 years later, his music still lives. RIP 🕊️ King 👑

His voice is what draws you to him it's incredible. I was I think 5 or 6 years old when I first heard him and now almost 50 years later I still get goosebumps when I listen to him. Thank you Mr. Presley for all those wonderful years

I was once told he was the greatest singer to ever live and didn't believe it. But after looking into his entire catalogue now I do! God bless you my friend!!!

Wonderful reaction. He was the most handsome man ever and the greatest entertainer. Even Simon and Garfunkel said he owned this song. He never stole anything. he helped other artist become bigger. Only a coward keeps talking that way about a man that is no longer here to defend himself. Get over it, nothing is going to change because of all the bad mouthing. We still love that man!!!

St. Elvis touched your soul too! I also cannot believe that I only recently discovered Elvis' gospel recordings! I always loved Crying in the Chapel, but like you said, why no one ever talks about his spiritual legacy.....the man is a saint....must be!!
