This time around we take a look at another first time reaction made possible by you all with Marie Laforêt and her song "Viens, Viens". She died two years ago, aged 80. Her daughter is a very successful film director. Marie Laforêt was an incredible actress, too. She played alongside Alain Delon in Plein Soleil by René Clément in 1960 - the French film version of The Talented Mr Ripley by Patricia Highsmith.

A marvelous song from a marvelous artist (la fille aux yeux d'or). The song is about a little girl begging her father to "come back" to his wife (her mother) "Cadeau" is also a very moving song from her (a mother singing to her little son, i doubt any sensitive man can help from crying when listening to this one). You may be interested to know she's one of Mylène Farmer's idols.

She was a fabulous artist and actress, she passed away fiew yours again. Mylene Farmer was admirating her so much that she covered "Je voudrais tant que tu comprenne" as her last song for Mylene's first tour En concert 1989 ( that you have to react too this please, one of the most emotional live performance of Mylene ....). Marie Laforet was fan of Mylene too, so that she wanted to thank Mylene by covering almost 10 years later Mylene's famous "Ainsi soit je...." but Marie had to cancel this project cos she wasn't feeling as confortable enough in order to find the way she could perform a Mylène's song as well as she would do....... For Marie Laforet, you can easily react to "Il a neigé sur yesterday"...... I can't still have goose bumps after having listen this reaction and feeling you emotion. Merci Dereck, thank you so much....Good music is amazingly universal

Please Dereck, could you make a double reaction for "Je voudrais tant que tu comprennes", first the original by Marie Laforêt, then Mylene's Live Cover, the outro of her first tour "En concert 1989" you could easily find in the amazing channel "Confidential Remastered", but you have to read the translation in English to understand this amazing emotion..... This song was playing on radio in Europe for years. I have heard it a million times, and saw this video many times as well. And I still cry every time. Heck, she makes herself cry every time she sings it (many recordings of her on KZfaq). But one need not see her, or even understand the lyrics in order to hear the emotion and cry along.

C'est même plus que cela. Elle avait dans le regard quelque chose de presque chamanique que je retrouve dans des membres de ma famille Russe... Elle avait une âme et des yeux qui transperçaient l'autre. She was a great actress too. Her nicknam in France was the "golden eye's girl", so so pretty. Unfortunately she was quite crazy at the end of her life. Viens, Viens is one of this song each time I hear it that gives me chills, for different reasons but also of course because of her breaking voice (the lyrics gave me also bad souvenirs about my own dad who was not really the best with my mom in a part of his life) By the way It's a french adaptation, the original song is "Rain, rain, rain" by Simon Butterfly.

Listen to Marie Laforet's "El Cabrestero" (one of her best, with spanish folk music influence). And to emotionally piercing "Pourquoi les hommes pleurent". Another gem is her rendition of "Sur le chemin des Andes" (famous peruvian folk song). She's iconic french chanteuse (famous in 1960s and ealry 70s). True artist. One of the best female singers, imho. Her singing (predominantly, 1960s period) was influenced a lot by folk music - you can hear echoes of roman, iberian antiquity in many of her songs like "Cicerenella" or "La Berceuse", for example. She has some well-known french pop songs too like Mon Amour Mon Ami, Manchester et Liverpool, Ivan, Boris et moi. She did some covers as well - Sounds of Silence by Simon, Garfunkel, Paint it black by Rolling Stones. I like very much her cover of Moody Blues "Nights in white satin". I'd recommend as well another iconic french chanteuse from 1960s Francoise Hardy.
