Seems like you're starting to understand why us old folk don't concider a lot of todays output to be real music!

Yeah I read this kind of comment all the time......as a 65 year old, I vehemently disagree. If you stay in your comfort zone all the time, you never learn anything new or discover anything. Pop music has promoted absolute clunkers since forever so pop music will always continue to do so. There is a list of new artists in every genre you might like, way too long to list out, that are killing it! If you form a broad based opinion based on one kind of music that isn't for you, that's just being old.

Yes today’s music is junk I love anything from mid 60s to mid 80s anything after that especially going into the 90s and beyond is pure junk. Once autotune became available I believe in the mid 90s 95/96 then pretty much anyone could be made to sound good even microphones today can alter your voice where old music was nothing but pure pure talent!!

Yep we were spoiled with the best and widest range of amazing music back then. I was in high school and college in the 70s. The perfect age to really appreciate it...and yes, I still listen to it nearly every day.

You are correct that we who came of age in the late 60's/early 70's were very spoiled by an embarrassment of riches where music was concerned. I think of 1963-1975 as a Renaissance of rock. It was an explosion of talent, innovation and creativity the likes that hasn't been seen since. So many great musicians were making music that sadly, some of them slipped through the cracks and didn't get the accolades they deserved. I don't know the story of Rare Earth, but I have read many tales of artists being ripped off by mobster/managers. Peter Frampton broke all records at the time for album sales and had huge concerts, but ended up totally broke due to his mafia connected manager Dee Anthony. Anthony also managed Humble Pie. When Marriott started pressing about where all the money went, he was sent to a meeting in NY with the Gambino Family who threatened his life if he didn't back off, also if he said one bad word in public about their man Dee Anthony. Steve's wife Pam was there and Frampton also confirmed that "they scared the sh*t out of Steve". There many other stories out there of crooked mangement ripping off poor unsuspecting artists who trusted them.

This will sound like I'm talking about a dream but this was my teen yrs. I was born in 1960 and I have 4 older sisters and 2 older brothers so there was music 24/7 in the house. I've loved music my hole life so I would hear Elvis,The Beatles, Rolling Stones and me in my little go-go boots dancing. Along comes 1970's my teens, I would wake up take a shower, comb my long black hair down to my knees and feathered 😅😅 put on my halter top and bell bottoms, grab my portable 8 track player and walk to town where we all hung out either the pool hall, arcade or the beach. Every teen had music and the Speak Easy had 2 big speakers in the window playing awesome music. We had the pizza place, malt shop, little restaurants so lots of places to go until around 11:00pm then it started again in the morning but we always had the best music blaring and we all danced. No fights, no yelling at each other none of that just great music and food. Man I just wiped a tear I miss those days so much.

I believe that Rare Earth was the only white band signed by Motown. They can bring the funk too. I got to see them in the late 80s and they kicked ass and took names.

I can remember listening to this on my oldest brother's transistor radio, in 1973. I was just 6 years old. I told my brother, these black guys sound good. My brother replied, this is blue eyed soul, little brother.

Rare Earth covered a lot of Motown hits. I got to attend a "personal" concert about 35 years ago in Woodstock, IL. They showed up out of the blue in a bar in town, I believe as a favor to the bar owner. There was such short notice, most people didn't even know they were here. I paid (IIRC) $15 for me and the (future) wife, and got to see these guys from about 8 feet away playing to an audience of around 20 people. It was absolutely amazing.

Yes, I was born at the right time, 1970 I was 14 and to be honest we did not realize at the time how special a time for music it was, but we do now! But don't think that at the time we let go to waste, we partied our asses off to it.

This was a cover of an old mid 60s Motown classic. The best music was in the 60s and 70s. Rare Earth really did a great job with this cover. They made it their own, but didn't change it from the original. Great song.

Rivera the drummer lead singer was a metronome machine with a great voice. If you can Biz, and I know you can't always, find the long versions of all their music. Of course the live ones are the best no matter and appreciated much. Can't get enough of Rare Earth. Didn't know you were from Haiti. That's pretty cool, you speak another language too?

Not the best live version of this song by Rare Earth by a long way! You need to listen to the real live version of this song from one of their albums (the one with the army back pack on the front) - it is so much better than this short sample!
