Yoshiwara Lament is based on a short story of the same name. It is about a young girl who was kidnapped and sold to a brothel in Yoshiwara. The umbrella is only natural since it was raining in Yoshiwara that day. Asa originally wrote the song for vocaloid, but the song has been performed by many and was a hit before he joined the Wagakki Band

I agree, one of the best things about this band is their versatility and the effortless way they can switch styles. I always find I have to watch a few times, because I find reading the lyrics without being drawn in by their performances pretty near impossible. Yoshiwara Lament was written by the bassist, Asa, for his own band originally. Yoshiwara was a red light district and back in the day women who got into debt could be made to work to clear themselves. Great band, since I started following them it's a rare day when I don't get the urge to listen to at least a couple of their songs.

The great advantage this band have is that the different influences and backgrounds that they have as a whole means they can cover so many genres and blends vocally, instrumentally, and compositionally. They can go full traditional/folk to metal, to pop, to jazz, to rock, to others, and in between just by different arrangements of instruments and vocalists.
