Yea, Carlin was a genius. I highly recommend his book "Brain droppings" One of the things he says has stayed with me for 20 years and once I heard it I could never "unhear" it. He said: "A politicians job is to use as many words as possible to say nothing" Once I heard this I started to actually reak down what politicians said and holy crap was George right. They get a question and give a 5 minute monolog, using big fancy words to throw of the "peasants" and if you actually listen to what they say it amounts to roughly: "no comment", "that's not my responsibility" or "It's to early to tell".

Carlin was a philosopher that taught with a comedic delivery. Being classed as a comedian is below his level. He was in a league of his own.

I agree Micheal.Carlin was a thinker a social critic a satirist and a genuine intellectual of the first order-using words not to hide the truth as so many do now but using them to express TRUTH. No wonder he scared the fuck out of people on both the right and left .We need this man back!

Carlin honestly probably was a genius, and he tried so hard to tell us what was going on. We laughed, and we still laugh, but it's all true. If he were still alive, I honestly have no idea what he would've done with the last few years, but I'd have loved to hear it.

He might have been a comedic genius, but the economic and social stances he made were not that rare back then nor are they today. They simply wouldnt be played by mainstream media outlets. George Carlin was the absolute best Professor of life I have ever encountered. I feel blessed that I was born when he started his HBO specials and I never missed 1. GENIUS, is definately an understatement, he was a prophet, philosopher, professor and intellectually superior in his ways to express his look on life. If he were alive today, he would have destroyed , WOKENESS, Explioted the HYPOCRISY of the Democrats, and would have decimated them with historical facts and numbers to back that up. We all miss you George, and I can't wait to see your new stand up special when I get to heaven....even though you didnt believe in it.

George was amazing. A lot of his material that's 20+ years old still applies to today. It gives you a perspective of how little has changed, and how correct he was. "Religion is Bullshit" is a great segment from him as well.

...or in the case of these ultra-wealthy parasites...vampires... Guys like Bezos and Musk could be spending FRACTIONS of their wealth on simple things like food and shelter for the hungry and homeless and almost single-handedly eliminate such problems. Estimates from HUD (Housing and Urban Development) put the figure at about $20 billion per year to end homelessness in the US and non-profit Hunger Free America puts a $25 billion per year price on ending US hunger. The issue isn't that the COUNTRY doesn't have enough money, it's that the INDIVIDUALS in poverty don't have enough money. Unfortunately, since we are inculcated into these ideas of rugged individualism, unregulated free markets, and the myth of the self-made man (The pulling yourself up by your bootstraps principle) we continue to always look the other way when we see these people obviously struggling just to stay alive by begging on street corners and living in tent cities... I always find it funny when people unironically use "Pull yourself up by your bootstraps." Hey moron, you do know the saying is actually an argument AGAINST your position, right? Go sit on the floor and try to pull yourself to a standing position using only the straps on your shoes...literally impossible, the point where you are applying force need to be in the direction you wish to go, so you would need to pull yourself up using something that is above you...and I don't mean to be cheesy but...oh, something like maybe...the outstretched hand of another citizen who recognizes the dire threat and difficulty of that climb out of poverty and so then lends their strength to yours as you work together to overcome the obstacle... Imagine if some of these ultra wealthy people (Or god forbid, the government they control) took it upon themselves to eradicate the need for such a humiliating, physically debilitating, and mentally destabilizing state of existence (A state that, once you enter, becomes extremely difficult to climb back out of without massive support, you gotta have money to make money, as the saying goes)...We'd be building statues to them all over the place and every history book would mark the day when the few took up the cause of the many for BASIC provisions for living a modern life... Their praises would be sung to the farthest shore and they would be immortalized forever for their good works...but no, they'd rather hoard all that capital because that's what they have been taught in this cut-throat system that exists in America...Capitalism infects people with a mind virus, one that kills empathy and fosters greed...sorry to rant, it's just that life could be so much better for so many people for, what? 10% of the money held by an individual in the oligarchic elite...Bill Gates just made a cool $23 billion over the last year through his software, especially profitable in remote learning. As well as investments in various sectors from farming to pharmaceuticals...

It's taken us over a decade after he passed to _begin_ catching up to his realizations. Back then, people would laugh and think, "oh, it's not really like that, he's being unduly harsh for comic effect". Now we increasingly realize, it IS like that, and has been for a long time. How did he know, with such clarity, from so few (and carefully hidden) signs? How did he know?

Uh, he was a prophet? Bear in mind that prophets don't usually identify themselves as prophets (fake ones will, but not actual ones). And more than that, prophets often don't even know they're prophets, because many of their predictions don't come true until AFTER they die.

RATM: "Believe in the lies?, Bowing down to the flag? You got a bullet in the head" Some of us where screaming loud, but rarely heard... Same today, with this thing going around, taking more of your freedoms for "your protection and safety" I challenged the teachers as a kid for forcing me to believe the BS that was written in the (history) books, when they read it. For as i tend to believe the history is told for us to see, what they want, a soul perspective and forced narrative, by the victors in a glorified story without true evidence and facts. "History is made and written by the victors, not based on all facts" That line got me expelled for a week, just age 10 or 11... Question everything... What is the original source (And see how diff parts of the world spin the same story different, then you start to see) Narrative and perspective is created to fit the needs, to control a population in different streets (Location) It is easy to see, once you set your mind free.

I grew up with Carlin & loved him all my life! He spoke truth & taught class. My sense of humor was molded by George, Richard Pryor & Robin Williams. I’m a little warped ! 😂❤❤❤

I'm in the military and was stationed in Japan for 4 years. Beautiful country with amazing culture and just about the friendliest people, best food, and cleanest cities. Shit just worked. Service was amazing, never saw trash on the street, people were quiet and polite. It was great. I came back to the states and got stationed in Alabama and it's fucking horrifying. Are there good things about the US? Sure. But good god it feels like a 3rd world country sometimes compared to other places.

I agree. I live in the south myself. Used to live in Texas before moving to Germany for a few years, and then moving back to the US (military family as well). The differences are like night and day. Was so much cleaner, and friendlier over there compared to how it is here. Schools were great over there compared to the ones I went to over here. Streets were almost completely clear of trash over there, unlike here where you can't look a few yards and not see stuff lying around.

well Japan has one of the highest suicide rates of any country soooo..... Something isn't working too well over there, with their 60+ hour work weeks and being so restricted from stepping out of the societal norm.

@@keithgraham8588 The US has a higher aggregate suicide rate than Japan. If you want me to really blow your mind, the US military suicide rate is over double both of them. To your point though, their work culture regarding office work is definitely needing some changes, but frankly I'm not a Japanese office worker and I never will be so I didn't have to deal with that. There's things wrong with every country, but experientially living in Japan was significantly better than living in the US.

George had a strong work ethic, he punched a clock when he was writing. Every word was chosen with purpose. Hours and hours of work go into a 1 hour special. He treated his profession as a job, and took it seriously. He did other things, his books were fun, I liked Brain Droppings. He also acted in a few films. He's Rufus from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. But he was always a comic first, that was his passion. I always wished I could have seen him live. His career is interesting to look back on. First, he was a young and clean cut in a nice suit, his stuff wasn't edgy or vulgar. Then the sixties hit, the suit went away, the hair got long, and the material more suggestive. Then came the 7 dirty words. I think that bit is what made him a house hold name. I love all his stuff. Simple bits like "things we have in common" or "stuff" or "The planet is fine" are some of my favorites.

I saw him in '98 in Vegas , he had an hour special about every year on HBO and worked on it there. He apologized at the beginning that he may have to check notes but it was seamless. Most comedians could barely fill a half hour in their career and he had fresh hour every year, Genius. But it was like a speech or maybe a philosophy professor. Some think he got meaner as he aged but to me he just got more real and legend status of being free to say what he really thought. RIP

The difference is he is intelligent and articulate, he also doesn't subscribe to much of the idiocy that makes people rolls their eyes at the left. Hence why people from all political sides appreciate him. It's important to remember things weren't always as divisive as they are now. People could tolerate differing political thought, unlike today where you either agree with me or your a commie. Agree with my or your a nazi.

He was ahead of the game! Amazing accuracy depicting America! It's undeniable, especially now!! I think God every day that I was always termed " A crazy conspiracy theorist," because I saw the ills of society and knew the game was rigged!! I not only am capable of critical thinking but I also can empathize with humanity!! George just had the balls to use his comedy platform to tell us what he really thought! Over the span of his career he only became realer with every skit! He wrote his own material and just became ballsier!!! It was brilliant!! Best comedian and realist person I've ever listened to!! George Carlin died on June 22, 2008. This world lost one of it's last real truth tellers that day. The man may have been vulgar at times but he never said anything that he didn't truly believe. He was a philosopher masquerading as a comedian. A genius disguised as the fool. There has never been and will never again be another like him.

All his performances starts with a funny, controversial and borderline rude bit that slowly changes into philosophy and enlightenment. He lures you in with humor and then pounces you with hard truths. The man is a truly great speaker, he hooks you, chews a bit and spits out a better person.

I grew up listening to George Carlin, Dennis Miller, and Robin Williams. When anyone asks about George Carlin sets I always recommend watching the one about Religion first, and then one about the War on Drugs. There are so many more, but these are a couple of the best ones.

The seven words you can't say on television should be the next one. It is absolutely perfect. He sounds so put together because he put everything down on paper. All his shows were memorized, the were no improvised moments. From hello to thanks for coming to the show everything was in his head exactly the way he wanted to say it. If you went to the same tour in different cities you would get the exact same show. And yes he was raunchy but he also cared very deeply about people and the words he used were what he thought would get through to them. Also if you want a completely different view of the man he was the Conductor on Thomas the Tank Engine.

With Trump you knew what he was about, he never bullshitted anyone he was basically there for the clout and to make his business interests better but in turn that probably had more benefits than any other politician that gets voted in and lies to your face while probably doing a hella lot worse. Cant believe people were generally sad Hilary lost or that Biden won. scummiest politicians out there

George Carlin went beyond comedy and is a great American social philosopher. He went from a night club act in the late 50’s and early 60’s to one of the most popular comedy acts from the late 60’s onward. By the mid-to-late 90’s some of his best work was social commentary. Even his classic bit, “a place for your stuff,” from the 80’s has some of that questioning of materialism.

... and in a truly symbolic gesture they replaced George Carlin with Ringo fucking Starr. The drummer for a pop band whose achievement was, according to the others members in the band, "... Not only wasn't the best drummer in the world, wasn't even the best drummer in the Beatles" [paraphrased]. Ringo's supporters (namely drummers tired of being mad fun of by musicians and fans alike) countered with the retort that he was very consistent. There you go, Carlin's replacement was a guy who was at best consistent at beating on shit for a pop band. Carlin's passing was such a loss for anyone who listened to his material or read his books and mostly unnoticed by everyone not keen enough to understand he was talking about them.

Ringo Starr was the original narrator of Thomas the Tank Engine for most of the English speaking world, since 1984. George did voice overs for America in the 90’s. Both of them have been long since replaced by other voice actors. For the record, I think they are both great.

I was born in 1960, I've seen and admired him from very early on. I remember sneaking bootleg tapes of his in the 70s, cause our old fashioned parents were stuck in there ways. Lol We grew up rebelling against established inequity and corruption. However we also believed in Freedom and America and our dreams. You would loved George at any age his insights and comic genius are unparalleled. he's also authored a few books. His albums and cassettes were often played on headphones at nite. He influenced me for years about insight and the human condition. Check out his Class Clown album and 7 dirty words, which led to a 1st amendment Supreme court verdict in his favor.

My brother always says that -- "it's a big club, and you ain't in it". The most amazing thing is George Carlin died in 2008 -- 14 years ago. He was prescient, I swear. Or maybe just really smart. Like Bob Dylan said, "You don't need a weatherman to know which was the wind blows." Thanks for a great video!

I really like "Abortion + Sanctity of life", "Death and aging", "Religion is bullsh*T", "Washington Talk" and all of his random rants about things that pisses him off. I was 16years old the first time I ever saw George Carlin perform. It was on HBO. I was at a friends house and we were definitely not supposed to be watching him. But everything he was saying was true and funny. And I'm now 50! And it's still true and funny. He was a beast!

Love George Carlin! Before Dave Chappelle, he was the undisputed king! Remember, his "7 Things You Can't Say on Television" went all the way to the US Supreme Court (1978) for that bit he did in 1972. His mastery of the English language and his perfectionism are legendary (I say perfectionism due to his bits were ENTIRELY scripted - he didn't leave anything to chance)

Carlin is the GOAT. He had no filter and would say what a lot of people thought but didn't have the balls to say. Fun fact about him, on September 9th and 10th of 2001 he recorded a live album at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas that was to be named "I kinda like it when a lotta people die." Of course, the terrorist attacks of 9/11 would happen the day after and Carlin shelved it. Carlin would bring the name out again for a planned special in 2004, but again the name was shelved this time due to Hurricane Katrina. The original recorded material under that original name was released shortly after his death. Love your comedy reactions by the way!

My ex and I became big fans of Carlin in the 70s and I love his comedy to this day. He was truly ahead of his time. This amazing man brought clarity through comedy...in my view. If you're interested...he was a car hop with quite a few lines in a 1969 Doris Day movie...called 'With Six You Get Eggroll' check it out.

One thing that really made me gravitate toward George Carlin is how like minded he is with my own views on things. But his ability to communicate those views is outstanding. But the sad thing is, nothing has really changed. His words even apply to today, easily.

His words are becoming more and more true with each passing day... George Carlin was a visionary and he was an excellent comedian! I haven't heard one thing from him that wasn't true and has not become so even more with the passage of time... The look on people's faces now during the Covid pandemic when George goes into his population control via viruses thing is just priceless... Even though he is speaking of the HIV and AIDS, it still rings home hard in 2020's.

I grew up on George Carlin. My dad would play his vinyl albums and 4 year old me was sucking it all up. He is #1 to me. Richard Pryor, Sam Kinnison and Gene Tracy were awesome runners up. I learned all of the lessons George was trying to teach. Maybe that is why people think I am a bit suspicious of everything. Another great comedian was Frank Zappa but he spoke his words of wisdom through music. Try listening to I'm the Slime by FZ or Camarillo Brillo or Dina Mo Hum.
