Thanks for the video. Would you make one which holds the log lower to the ground?

That looks super heavy duty. What do you think the max capacity is on it?

how did you get power to winch

Nice...... but why do you need the log so high off the ground?

Thanks. For a little log like this, you're right, it doesn't need to be so high off the ground. However we haul some really big logs with it as well as bundles of logs sometimes. Having the extra height makes it so we have good clearance between the ground and the big logs or bundles of logs.

@@jeffhahne6933 Jeff how log is your arch from the arch above the wheels to the yellow reflector above the tow hitch

The tongue weight has to be a couple hundred pounds. How does your ATV handle that?
@jeffhahne69335 жыл бұрын
When using my ATV, I control the tongue weight by the point that I chose to winch the log from. If the pick point is too far back it will be tongue heavy. Too forward and it will be tongue light.

Jeff Hahne thanks for responding. I'm using a home made log arch weighing about 350 lbs, with tractor and ATV. It has lots of adjustment points and we are moving sizable oak logs anywhere from 200 to 500 yards to the landing. So I am curious how others are doing it with wrecking or breaking their ATV.

If it is wide enough he could use it to load the log on saw bed????
@jeffhahne69334 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure. His mill has a hyraulic loader.

Hello! Great log arch! I'm about to build one myself. I see you used 2x3 HSS. What thickness are you using? 3/16 or 1/4? Also, what is the max log diameter you can haul? Btw, I absolutely love your adjustable (slider) front support, it's definitely adopted for my conception! Great idea!

Thanks! I can't remember exactly. I just used what I had in the pile. I think it was 1/4" but it flexed too much with heavy logs so I boxed it in with two pieces of angle and now it's much better. I've had a log in there that was about 36" in diameter but it was a shorter log. That was a lot of weight!

Nice video, one day I will build one, what type of winch did you use to lift the 36” log?
