Finally someone that has built an arch moving a decent size log. Most of the vids i have watched of home buit arch they are moving these tiny 6-8" logs dragging one end.

Hee hee....we are guilty of the same. When it came time to film it...no logs to be had.

Are you willing to share the plans? Looks nice and simple

i am not sure where my plans went from that long ago. i copied some general geometry i'd seen on a commercial logging arch and designed it around the wheels i had and the lifting tongs i got from northern tool. get the lifting tongs not the skidding tongs.
@jackbuys37116 жыл бұрын
OK, Thanks for the quick reply. I will check Northern Tool. What about the spindles and hubs.

I think I ordered the spindles and hubs from Amazon as they were cheaper than etrailer.com. also ordered a new set of wheels and tires for utility trailer at the same time and put the old set on this log mover. The larger size gave me greater clearance in the woods. I wrapped the machined spindles with aluminum when I welded them in to keep the spatter off.

@@laaby189 plans? Who needs plans 🤣 I did the same thing. I pull mine with an ATV so I limited myself to 25" between the arch because I'm known to overwork and abuse everything I own so I designed limits into my design LOL. You did a nice job alot of the home made ones I've seen look like total crap.

@@dngendron thanks. A good amount of thought and prep went into making this one. I drew it up in autocad and am quite amazed at how true I got the spindles welded up.
