As for the question of why did Nolan waited so long to carrying out his mission...I assume it has everying to do with Mark getting his powers. I think he probably would have tried to stall long enough for both his wife & child to grow old and pass away naturally, but as soon as Mark gained his Viltrumite powers, he knew Mark would live just as long as him, meaning that there was no longer a point in stalling the inevitable anymore.

Not really. Nolan was given 500 years to get the Earth ready for invasion. When he arrived on Earth he quickly determined that there was nothing on the planet that could stand against him, little alone an invasion force. So, he started his secondary mission, which was to mate with the indigenous population to see if they would be good breeding stock for Viltramaties. He's only been on Earth for 20 years, leaving another 480 years until the invasion force gets there. When Mark developed powers it changed Nolan's opinion about the threat level of the Guardians of Globe. If Mark turned against him and sided with the Guardians they might be able to stop him. So, he had to get rid of the Guardians or get rid of Mark.

@@ohhellwhereami2574 well he did know the potental threat because of the fact he knows if mark is even half his strength he would be stronger then the guardians alone and nolan did get hurt a good deal vs the guardians so he understood the risks of a near pureblood fighting againest him plus he watched mark survive battlebeasts attacks and quite a couple other heavy hitters and considering nolan seemed aware of battle beast i imagine a he knows that he is capble of hurting a viltrimite meaning if the guardians were alive mark turned on him and cecil hired battlebeast like machine head did Nolan would be dueling two beings on and near his level plus the guardians which means they posed a real threat to him that's why he called cecil when mark was in trouble he knew if he helped mark vs battle beast would recognise a viltrimite solider and consider him as battle beast said a worthy oppenent so he decided to wait intill he got rid of all threats before dueling mark because despite being of viltrum mark hasen't been tempered yet so he is still weak compared to most viltrumites and he is the least experianced

Same. It was the first time in this series I had to pause an episode of this show just to try and comprehend what exactly I was seeing. I was like "there's no way this is real. There's no way they were able to do this." And I heard it's nothing compared to what happens later in the comics

There's no way to beat Omniman. Also the Viltrumites cutting through each other is weeding out the weak. The fact that Nolan couldn't just cut through Mark is a testament to their good breeding

Omni-Man could have killed Mark easily, he was trying to prove a point and he wanted his son to join him, he did care for him. Mark doesn't scale above Immortal and he was bloodlusted and wanted to kill Omni-Man in Ep. 7. They where creating shockwaves and craters with their blows. Immortal was the only one to draw blood from Omni-Man.

“Looks like I wasn’t the only person being lied to.” All the extremely heavy stuff Mark has recently suffered (including having his own father murder hundreds of people right in front of him and then almost beat him to death) and this girl STILL tries to play the victim and make it about herself. Personally I hope that toxic relationship ends next season.

That line of “You dad………….I’d still have you.” 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭GODDAMNIT!! And Debra has suffered even MORE than Mark because she lost both the love of her life and the father of her child. This is one of the single best superhero shows in TV history. Also Mark is Gohan and his dad Nolan is Frieza/Thanos and the Viltrumite’s are essentially Kryptonians with the culture of the Saiyans, and like the Saiyans they significantly get stronger the angrier they are, they are now the most terrifying alien race in all of comic book history!!!

Jaby has a habit of editing out the emotional beats of a show. If it happens a couple of times you can chalk it up to happenstance but every emotional moments get cut someone doesn't want to feel.😂

Omni man leveling that planet is like 5% of his power and he isn’t even the strongest. So we in for a alot of series before mark can truly lived up to his name “Invincible”

Nah. It still took Omni-Man a while to level that planet and he wasn't holding back, he literally has no reason or inclination to hold back. He was there long enough to grow a beard. Maybe weeks for them, hours for Earth time. I assume the whole planet is covered in civilization. We also don't know how big the planet is. Could be the size of Jupiter. So he was probably destroying a Texas sized portion proportional to the size of the planet of civilization per day and resting and repeating. The wideshot of the planet in the show was cinematic or montage timing. He grew a beard. That's how we know.

@@GladwinAbel Very true. But Robert Kirkman made both the comics then show and has admitted if my memory is correct, that he revised the show to be more of what he wants. Also for dramatic timing and what not. Yes comics Omni-man is stronger than his TV counterpart.

16:10 It’s crazy how Jaby be answering his own questions. Any of the viltrimites that died in the flashback is proof of them being too weak. And also as you see the viltrimites that did survive was mostly having grey hair. Meaning they been alive for atleast a couple of thousands of years and Ima make a guess that the older you get as a viltrimite the stronger you are. Lastly my friend who read the comics told me that Viltrimite DNA overtakes any others race dna. So even if your dad was half viltrimite with a human mom you’ll still be pure viltrimite

The only half viltrumite who's other half wasn't completely overwritten was marks half brother and that's because his mother's DNA didn't fuse well with his dad aka Omni man which is why he ages faster than the average viltrumite. Human DNA is too weak to combat the vilturimte DNA which is why it completely overwrites makes human DNA that why all of marks descendants have full viltrumite abilities eventhough most of them should barely have viltrumite dna left since they keep procreating with humans.

@@calebstephan2083it’s not 100%, more like 99%. It literally says it in the episode, “Viltrumite dna is so pure, you’re nearly full blooded.” Apparently y’all don’t know what the word *nearly* means. And don’t try to spout some nonsense from the comics, I’ve read through them already. Viltrumite dna will be the dominant gene but it won’t completely erase the other half. It’s why marks half brother is blue and matured so quickly, but he won’t live as long or have the same potential as a pure blooded Viltrumite. Human-Viltrumite hybrids may as well be full blooded because their dna is so compatible, but it’s still not 100%. I’ve seen a few theories about mark displaying more strength when he’s angry or in distress because of the adrenaline response from his human side, though I don’t know if that’s true.

The whole fight scene and pointless destruction wasn’t Omniman trying to convince his son. It was about trying to convince himself that his heart is still with the Viltrumites. If Mark had never gotten powers, Nolan wouldn’t have gone through with trying to conquer Earth

Omniman didn't want to kill mark. The reason he waited so long to kill the guardians is because he loved debbie and mark. He was going to wait until they died of old age before doing anything. When mark got his powers he knew he couldn't do that anymore.

Omniman stayed on Earth to gain their trust and eventually convince them to join the Viltrum empire and if that doesn't work they would just make them. Since the time Omniman spend there trying to gain their trust pales in comparison to their lifetime, it is a small price to pay for the possibility that they may live in "Harmony" with the people of Earth.

The reason why omniman waited so long is mentioned in the comics. Viltrum population was on a decline due to a virus called the scourge virus, the scientist of viltrum belived that human DNA is 100 percent compatible to theirs, so they sent one of the strongest viltrumites being Nolan to test that theory. And when mark was born and later got powers the theory was proved and thus ending his misson, This is the reason omni man was sad at first because he will have to end this life he had grown to love. The rest of the viltramites come later in the comics to replenish their population..

The part about the viltrumites slicing each other like butter was to show that the remaining viltrumites that survived the purge were nearly indestructible compared to those that were easily dispatched.

The viltrum scene fight was that there was weaker viltrums that were killable. So they just showed the weakest dying to save time on story.

I think it's important have these stories. We may not have literal superheroes but speculative fiction is how we explore aspects of our world without the biases and weight of real issues. We can discuss race and class and abuse with aliens instead of people. We can control how much we align these concepts to personal ones at our own pace. That's important.

You’re dead on about Omniman probably telling himself that he can just get Mark on his side and holding back. Also, Viltrumites seem to get stronger & faster the more they use those abilities… and tougher the more they get seriously roughed up. Mark’s nowhere near on the level of his dad, especially his strength, but I think all his nasty losses actually did make him tougher than he otherwise would be.

Excellent voice work from Steven Yeun and J.K. Simmons but especially from J.K. Simmons, you can feel the conflicted emotions going on in Nolan's head as speaks to Mark but you can also feel the emotion and anger in Steven's voice.

I am personally very able to differentiate a more light-hearted tone like the Avengers from Invincible. I wouldn’t look that deep into it Jaby. Being more violent gives them way more potential for insane action scenes and emotional feats.

Omni man explained it. he said he was sent to weaken the planet by himself so that they don't have to lose any more viltrumite. That's why he waited and gained trust of the Guardians of the globes. While waiting he fell in love and Mark was born that's why he waited to be sure if Mark will have his power.

What I just realized is that it’s a good thing Mark went thru this. Like nolan said your a vultrimite in blood only. Your education begins now. Viltrumite are much tougher and meaner. Granted if more viltrumites came to earth they would consider mark weak and would kill him. So this toughens Mark up.

Im watching this again after long time and man this thing hits hard Omni-man was just born this way like many other viltrumites they dont know whats mean love or sympathy they are born just to conquer nothign else. Personally i think Omni man isnt rly bad he is just doing what he must because if not him diffrent viltrumite will come and do his job

kind of a small spoiler but it answers one of jaby's question . . . . . the explanation given in the comics is that human dna is the most compatible with viltrumite dna, its like a perfect match, and the viltrumite population is very small, now yall can put two and two together

He's weaker by virtue of being younger. Not because he's just inherently weak. They get stronger as they age like vampires. However, every one of these battles he survives he gets stronger upon recovery. A viltrumite who survives enough beatings, even though younger, can potentially get stronger than an older viltrumite who has only fought weaklings and never struggled.

That episode was off the chain and I had a feeling that his people was the reason he did what he did in the first episode when Omni-Man said in a later episode to the Alien Commander that "This planet is not yours to conquer". I wonder if Omni-Man went back to his people to tell them that Earth was a bust and humans nuke the planet trying to kill him. So that the planet is useless to Viltimites in hopes of preventing them from coming there. I can't believe Amber had the nerve to show up think she could just step back into someone's life after being so F'd up to them and Mark for being stupid enough to take her back. I've lost some respect for his character. He's just a glutton for punishment. Ok, the part where William and Amber thought Atom Eve was Dupli-Cate had to be a joke because they look nothing alike. Enjoyed the reaction 👍👍✌out.

he DID go about taking over once he landed. first he had to learn about the planet (him getting with debbie), then he became a hero to gain the love and adderation of the planet, then he had the guardians there who had to plan to take out and then he had mark which slowed him down. if there was no mark he would just did the hero thing, got everyone on his side and then said "ok, welcome to viltrum empire"
