This show doesn’t really kick off until season 2 and then it continues to top itself season after season.

Yeah. The first season has some good episodes, but the series really gets good with Danny DeVito, and the development of the secondary characters (i.e. Cricket, Gail the Snail, Artemis, the Ponderosas and McPoyles, Charlie and Macs' parents etc).
