Thanks for the wombok gift Bro. I appreciate the time and effort it takes to grow to full size. Great work!

Such a shame about the slug damage & the rot, but good decision to get them out so at least you have something to show for your hard work 👍🏻 Thanks for the video 👍🏻

Thanks for this. The rot comes from a bacterial disease I believe had a similar problem with iceberg lettuce and last years womboks in this locstion

Hi Anthony, another great video as usual. I tend to pot up a lot of my seedling into 20cm pots when they are younger. This tends to buy a little more time when you are busy and helps avoid the tangled mess when planting out seedlings. Keep up the good work. Cheers

Thanks mate I tend not to like repotting brassicas takes too long I will do so though on my capsciums and eggplant especially if it’s still to early to plant out

Yes same. Do you use lights indoors for your seedlings? My seedlings never look as strong or tall as yours.

I will do a video for this. I don’t use lamps or heat mates. I germinate them indoors in the warmth of the house and as soon as they germinate I put them outside in full sun all day making sure they are well watered. And I apply some liquid fertilisier a couple days after they germinate

Hi Anthony, I think your patch is looking good considering all the rain Sydney had, a shame about the rot but hard to avoid with that kind of weather. Your broccoli and cabbage look really great, I hope mine do just as well, fingers crossed. Jacqui

I thought I had the slugs under control but they absolutely exploded with all the rain. Best of luck with your planting 👍

i'll be adding a lot of sharp sand to my veggie patch soil and to use for potting mixes. i think that drainage is everything, and too much organic matter or clay ruins crops by retaining too much water. you can do additional watering but you cant take water away from a soggy soil. the alternative is to make row mounds (like you did but planting on top of mound) ahead of time for plants that will crop in wetter conditions. plastic barrier for those conifers, else all your watering and nutrients are going to feed those trees so they can invade more with their roots.

I have been meaning to try this. I want to see if they can draw them out of the head of the cabbage once they are in there they seem content to stay

They still look really good 👍 I harvested my first wombok, it's not big and solid like yours, and I had trouble with earwigs - how do you deal with those!? Since following your journey, I'm determined to try more F1 varieties.

Earwigs don’t seem to attack mine but snail pellets help I believe. I have grown the wombok variety from Mr fothergrills as well it’s a hybrid and produces well as well

do you use cow manure, Anthony?

I used to use a lot of bagged cow manure but I am looking for ways to make my garden cheaper so I have been generating my own compost. I used to put a couple bags of cow manure on the beds before planting out
