Fishing At Horseshoe Lagoon

I had to take a friend to a medical appointment as she was not allowed to drive home, so I decided to take my rods and go fishing in nearby horseshoe lagoon while I waited for her. I only had about an hour or so, but really made the most of that time.

Pure gold Robbie. There’s definitely more than just carp in there. The water certainly doesn’t look too good at this time of year but you’ll notice that the fish are totally healthy with no visible signs of infection or disease. I still wouldn’t eat anything from there though. I won’t suggest any other places because I really don’t want to appear to be demanding you to do anything that you don’t want to do but there’s a lot of similar places in a very small area where there are opportunities to catch multiple species especially after the recent floods at the moment because of the shrinking water levels in the flood zone. Hi Robbie. Enjoyed the session. Last time I fished, I had two hooks per line, one with worms and one with corn. The result was worms 1 and corn 2. Seems carp like them both. Also tried the stirring up the mud trick as well. Enjoyed your underwater footage. Kind regards MP

Horseshoe use to be a great spot for yellow belly then it went downhill for some odd reason i don't know the whole story I've asked a lot of people about it and had no answers back. A family friend ended up hospital for 2 weeks eating a fish outta there last month so its really bad then they decided to put sign's up.

Drove past that place a few times when living up that way, but never stopped for a fish. Mad Mex is a good stop for food if you're ever there again, good stuff if you like Mexican food. Water didn't look great, but it fished well for the short time you were there. Nice job once again Robbie and thanks for sharing!

Hey Robbie great video I’m not sure if you’ll even see this but I’ve been massively getting into carp fishing recently I’m just wondering what you mainly run Running sinker Paternoster rig Unweighted Hair rig Thanks mate I’m usually running running sinker or unweighted but I’m wanting to try new things I also want to start going for muarry cod so any tips and tricks for that would be awesome as well I have a 2-4kg abu Garcia rod and a 2-4kg diawa rod I’m running 20lb braid atm with 10leader but soon switching over to 10lb braid any suggestions in this category as well Sorry for all that dump mate never been taught so trying to teach my self thanks mate have a good day

G'day mate, thanks for the comment. I usually use either a paternoster rig or running sinker rig for most of my fishing. Sometimes I will use a float rig. As for the Murray cod tips, there's too many to list here mate. Check out my Murray cod playlist. There are 100's of videos loaded with tips and info. 👍

Yeah some signs are maybe worth considering as it does look like some kind of sketchy algae growth happening. Its probably not too bad unless you've got open cuts or some kind of immune system comprised, I wouldn't swim in it and much less drink it! Jumping in there probably isn't a good idea either, I pity anyone washing them socks 😅

People often ask me why I don't eat the carp and tilapia I chase in my local waterways. My usual response is something like "have you seen the water they came out of?". That and living in Queensland means it's totally illegal to use them for anything. That rod-holder just paid for itsef. You'll have to burn those socks now! lol

Robbie, do you ever get any responses from UK commenters? Looking at videos produced by UK anglers, they make such a fuss over bait, tackle, spending fortunes on the latest tackle fashions to catch bloody carp, whilst the most you and we simply buy some corn at Woolies or Worms and reel in any number and size. Hope they are envious!

I have been told they get yellow belly in that 💩 pond lol, i have only ever caught carp, its alway entertaining catching carp oh and if your foot doesn't turn green in 24 hour you should be ok 👌

We've been friends for 15 years and Holly and her get along well. I can only imagine her telling me it was a "sh1t of a fishing spot" or that we're "catching a few browns". Haha 😂😂😂
