Just get yourselves a decent fish friendly large landing net for carp, and a unhooking mat to protect the carp, that particular species of carp aren't as robust as other species and don't do well with poor handling. And why not look for baits that we do over here in the UK called 'boilies' come in a huge range of flavours, but what's really interesting is the fact they do ones called 'pop ups' basically they float just as well as those dog biscuits, highly visable in all sorts of colours and flavours. The best colours are florescent yellow or white and in fruity flavours . They also love sweet corn!! We have them over here to well over 40lbs

Man, I was laughing the entire time on that first fish! I've caught many since I was in high school. The combination of light tackle and no net makes it so difficult to get a good grab on them. "it's not fighting very good..." Until you go to pick up it. The hookset and the grab are the most dangerous times with those carp when using light tackle. I actually had my little girls out last night at a local lake that recently got some carp in it for grass control. It's a been a few years and they're starting to get pretty good size. Right before we left, one took the bait and it was on. 6' medium/light rod with 4lb test. It took a while to get her worn down enough to even come close to the bank, then the tug of war started. I handed my wife the rod so I could try to get a quick grab on it and told her if it shoots off to just point the rod right at the fish and let it pull drag. During the hand-off it shot away and my wife had her hand around the line smh. Instantly broke off. It always hurts when that happens after a 10 minute fight lol. Nice video!

Caught my first one this summer: 39" long. I didn't have a scale, but I'd guess 20 lb. +. Bread squeezed around a #6 wide-gape carp hook on the bottom. Nice video! I'll have to try the Beneful!

From watching other vids… This is characteristic of grass carp…. They don’t wake up till they see the bank or the net…. The Brits recommend a generous net since these guys get huge.
