We are 67 and 70 years old, we find it is getting harder to stay fit and healthy living and travelling on our sailboat, we anchor out all the time, we walk as much as possible, swim when we can, we have fold up bikes, we have the normal getting older things, but we do as much as we can. No one can say boat life is easy whatever age you are. Ashley, your doing fine.

Y'all should look into the personal alarms that Sailing Zatara showed on their channel a few months ago, but for your children. Zatara makes their kids wear them during night shifts in case they fall overboard. I don't remember for sure, but it was either triggered by contact with water, or by distance from the ship. Either way, it sounds an alarm on the boat and in the parent's sleeping quarters. If you made a belt or chest harness for your kids, which they can't take off themselves, it could save your kids in the event one of them falls overboard when you turn your back (split second).

Great video. I didn't realize how long of a sail it would be. Yes, I know you told us but when you area actually doing it and we see you sail, and sail and sail for long stretches, it make the distance "real". We love the family portions of your videos. The kids are experiencing and enjoying life. You guys are enjoying your adventure. You all look so much happier when you are exploring. The fishing portions are great too. Loved seeing Ben yell "fish on" so the kids can see it too. Awesome!

Be really wary of double hook rigs, especially with bigger marlin. If you get the "free" hook caught in your hand or even your clothing, you are then attached to a very powerful fish, unlikely to end well. Stick to large strong single hooks, much safer.

It sometimes feels like it's dangerous and a concern for Willa and Bodhi is real, but actually the kids are very happy. Both Parents trapped on a small boat in a big Ocean and no waiting for Mom or Dad to come home from work, it's perfect! There's food and Dad's always fishing and Mom is in the kitchen turning Dads fish into nummy food and two very happy kids, lucky enough to have crazy Parents always there to hug them. I'm guessing Ben and Ashley got it right. Sail on, into that good night.

Good stuff. I started nodding off at the end of long night watches. I was listening to audio books, but 2 - 3 hours in, I'd get the nods. So I started switching to music, and then to dancing in the cockpit. The trick at sea of course is you can't lift your feet off the deck, 'cause when you set it back down, the deck is someplace else. A bit ridiculous? No, very ridiculous. Surprised it actually gave me a modicum of exercise. A guy I sailed with in the Bahamas made the observation that, on a boat, if you didn't do any stretches and back exercises you'd end up with a bad back. So I started doing double leg overs ( On my back , knees all the way to one side, then all the way to the other... Keeping count with my fingers, so I could think about something else.) It's like a minimum amount of exercise and stretching. When it was rough, 42' cat 2 -3 meter seas, no news to you guys, I'd do them in my berth.

Wow that was a little marlin and look at the fight. My biggest was 471 lbs, which is big for a male . Females can get as big as 2000 lbs. . My 471 pounder spooled me and the captain tied on another pole and threw the first in the water . The fish almost spooled me again but I finally got it turned around. It took me 45 minutes to reel in both lines and all four of us aboard to get her onboard. I never kept one again after seeing the light in her eyes go out. Then it catch tag and release. What great life you have take care of those two little ones. May the wind be always at back and smooth sailing!

Hey Ben, great episode and a real inspiration watching you do it with the kids. With the double hook set on the lures have you tried just running a single. I know its horses for courses but over the years we have caught and released well over 3000 billfish and the hook up rate is no different with one hook or two but the main factor is one hook a hell of a lot safer and easier to manage when releasing or handling the fish. Keep up the great work. You guys have inspired us for our next chapter in our lives, thank you!
