The intro was absolutely hilarious. The review was really well done and very detailed. I've never heard of Fist of the North Star until I watched this video. Good review, you covered pretty much everything about it. I've played and finished it as well though too. I did the new game plus, tried to do it on Canon difficulty and actually beat Shin but then got OHKOd by the boss in the tournament so I restarted the NG+ one difficulty lower. I'd also like to get the plat as well, but the clinic mini game is so hard to perfect every song. But even once I get the three that I'm missing I still have to collect all the treasures, all the items for the buggy, etc so I kind of put the plat on hold. The good thing is though is I'll eventually get it since FotNS doesn't include Mahjong... never platting another Yakuza again because of Mahjong. My only issue with the game is that I personally think the storyline falls after the first few chapters. It's still there, but it's not nearly as prominent as it was early game, something that I've always loved the Yakuza games for. However if there's one thing FotNS Lost Paradise does better than any of the other Yakuza games or Judgement, it's the combat. The combat has a lot more depth than the Yakuza games with the ability to combo enemies, you can just do so much and it's very skill based. It's no God Hand(which, I'd highly recommend the game for PS2) but as a beat em up it's as close to God Hand as I feel we'll ever get.

Probably the best Fist of the North Star. Great story and the OST is FUCKING AMAZING especially Toki's, Thouzer, Raoh, and Tagura's final theme. Just wished the added some basic attacks to Kenshiro's attacks and choice to choose between what finishers.

Great review I loved learning about all the games prior to this one like the arcade machines and stuff.

FotNS is also my all-time favorite anime. I watched my VHS tape of the movie religiously, and when I ordered a DVD of it from Hong Kong many years ago (the only affordable way to own the movie on DVD at the time) it didn't matter that the subtitles were so bad cuz I already knew the dialogue. I actually prefer the TV series because the story is far more in-depth and stays true to the manga. Now in regards to the videos games... ugh. All of the ones I had played were pretty terrible until Ken's Rage for PS3. LOVE that game! One of the main reasons is because it follows the manga so well. But I also found it addicting. I got the Platinum Trophy on that one! Ken's Rage 2 was pretty awesome too, going even deeper into the FotNS lore. This game looks great, and I love that liberties were taken with the narrative, cuz I was getting a bit tired of the same 'ol story being told in the last two games. Disappointed to hear about the lock-on and camera issues, though. I'm sure you do get used to it like you said, but still. It looks like it plays very similar to the Ken's Rage series. I want it. I still don't own a PS4, but a game like this will definitely encourage me to do whatever it takes to get one. Excellent review, Joel! You covered everything that I wanted to know about this game.

awesome review I recently bought this game for my ps5 and I instantly got invested and it made me curious to watch the anime but I loved the yakuza style combat and the story is quite deep but catchy 👌!

Never thought there would be a Fist of the North Star game worth buying. Just got it and it’s awesome. I appreciate the fighting system being faster than in Yakuza and Judgment.

Just got the game for $27, like new condition. And I'm sure it will get pricier. I'd recommend Yakuza franchise fans to get all the canon and related games like FOTNS as soon they can (Dead Souls has reached the $70 mark, unbelievable). Too bad we don't have Ishin and the PSP games localized.

Fist of the North Star is my top 5 Orion anime releases. 1st would be Vampire Hunter D, 2nd is Fist of the North Star, 3rd is Wicked City 4th is Akira and 5th is Golgo 13. I downloaded the Demo but I havent put time into it. Great Review though.

I was almost buying this game until I saw that the Holiday Sale in PSN has "WEEK 1" written on top, now I'm scared of buying it right now.

I maybe late to this game/video. I've just started playing say about 3 weeks ago? This is just my review (May contain spoilers) I felt this was developed by the B team in RGGS. Now don't get me wrong. In terms of combat, game play, graphic etc Watching how Kenshiro obliterate enemies using his fist & kicks, how enemies just splatted into fireworks of blood and gore. It is fantastic and awesome in many way. However, what i particular did not liked this game is 2 things. 1) The (short) amount of time complete the main story. By the end of 2 weeks, i was already on chapter 10! and i know the next chapter is the last chapter. So in terms of story mode, it is a very short game. Usually in open world games, you are being introduced to some of the areas and/or mini games while progressing towards the main story. In this case, i was in chapter 10 when i have to "voluntarily" explore the Southern area of the game, as i was collecting 1 of the trophies in the game. 2) The (extra long) amount of time needed to platinum the game. Bad news for those trophy hunters like me. This game legitimately requires you to spend tons of time to fully obtain all the trophies. One requirement of the trophy is the "Destined to be extreme" is the worst out of all. The amount of sheer grinding required for this is extremely long. This is definitely the best time to do it when the pandemic was at at its early stages and most of the world has gone into "shut down" Overall, it is still fantastic & i do enjoy the game.

i just started playing this and this game is not good imo... it feels stiff and i haven't even played it long but its already repetitive.. and it honestly feels and looks like a ps3 game
