As an electronics technician, I never trust something you can't change the battery in when it is a critical item. That said, being able to use it without the pump is definitely a great asset.

I agree. It would not be my primary choice for hiking but I did use it for two-weeks of car camping. Thanks for commenting

This looks to be a good option for filtering bulk water. Pretty sure the heaviest thing I end up carrying when I'm out is water. Thanks for sharing Mark, very interesting piece of gear. Hope your hunkered down today and got everything that can blow away put away.

Hey Steve. That is why I look for where the closest source of water is when I go out. I think you may be getting the storm worse than us. Stay safe

Thanks Mark, I was over the moon to have captured that one! So far the storm isn’t too crazy here but we will see how the day progresses.

Thanks for this very informative review, I like the idea of a portable electric water filter system. I agree with you, I think having a removable battery would be a great upgrade as well as changing the hose connector too. I think it would also be cool if it came with some sort of back-up hand-pump in case the battery died or the electric motor quit while you were out in the wilderness. 👍Take care and Cheers!

It's needs a lanyard just to keep it from falling into the water..I'd put it in a zip lock baggie modified for the hose just to keep it from getting dunked..I have "butter fingers" so just my thoughts..LOVE this channel!

I agree. I will be carrying it in a drybag of some type. Great way to keep things together, maybe a way of carrying extra water away from the stream and keep my pack from getting wet as the device leaks. I can also use a lanyard to keep from loosing it in the water as you mention. Thanks for commenting

Appreciate another great review, Mark! As you mentioned, not sure about using an electronic device for something as essential as filtering water, but if you're going to be filtering a lot of water (for multiple people, say) the convenience and speed might be something to consider. It seems like there are still a number of things that could be improved, and it's not something I'm going to be looking at in the immediate future, but perhaps once it becomes a little more refined (and I have a need for it), I'll take another look. Thanks again!

I agree. I will use one of my other simpler devices most of the time. I forgot if I mentioned, I used this for two-weeks car camping with Gina. That was an ideal time for it. Thanks for commenting

Not only do you need to replace the battery if it goes bad but with a replaceable battery if it a standard 18650 you can swap and still use the filter while charging the other battery.

Fancy toy that I'd love to have. Though it's not a good item for prepping and survival as it relies too much on fragile parts and electricity.

I like this. I think there's a similar water filter, but I can't remember which channel I saw it on. I also don't like the idea of not being able to replace the battery. ✌️🇺🇸🇨🇦✌️

Thank you for another great overview, Mark. You could use a piece of foam used for insulating hot water pipes as a bigger float for the pre-filter. A quick disconnect like those used for garden hoses would be an improvement to the design

I think a piece of pip foam would work well. I was thinking about something similar, but smaller, than what gets used with Camelbak type of products. Thanks for commenting

G'day Mark, like the concept, certainly there's a place for it. And you nailed everything in the review of it, great stuff mate !!!. Its fantastic that the company is listening, .... and acting, ... too. I did like the original hard shell case, but ok, as long as you've something to keep the whole kit together. Glad to see the carbon element ; ) Yeah, gotta say I'd want to be in the position where I'd be carrying 18650 lights and have the ability to swap batteries around if necessary. You beat me to it mate; I was wondering about gravity feed, should you be out of power altogether, tick. A bit more refinement and I reckon they're on a winner. Cheers Duke.
