Fix a Henry Hoover which won't start by bypassing the printed circuit board (PCB)

How to fix a Henry vacuum cleaner that won't start. Bypassing the printed circuit board, PCB, on a Henry Hoover: You remove the PCB and wire straight to the switch!
You need to strip it down quite far, but basically:
Undo the 4 outer screws, flip back over and lift the hat off. lift out the cord rewind unit and remove the little wheels (or watch if they fall out
Pop the cover off that covers the switch and wires behind the switches and unplug everything.
Flip back over and remove the 3 inner screws, then pull the (now top, was bottom) off.
You'll now see the PCB, remove all that and its wires. You will be left with the L&N from the cord rewind, and 2 white wires from the motor.
Put the bottom/top on with the 3 inner screws (I fit the sound deadening inside the case thing then slip that over the motor, then place the motor rubber on top)
Back to the wiring, and wire the L&N to one side of the on/off switch, and the 2 white wires to the other side
Leave the hi/lo switch in if you don't want the hole
Plop the cord rewind in
fit the top cover

Alternatively buy a replacement PCB for about £20 and keep the hi/lo function which is useful IMO.

Lovely video Peter. The Henry refused to start on Saturday. My wife was equal parts impressed that I could fix it, and disappointed I wasn't going to buy a new one. Well done and thanks. Tip sent.

you just got a subscriber! bought a henry off car boot in the uk, for £10. predictably, it did not work. Tried this and YESSSSSSSSSS. Fired up perfectly and im in the middle of cleaning@! thanks so much! best you tube tutorial ever.

restores your faith in humanity people like you my missus a underpaid cleaner and we have 3 henrys and had to replace pcb boards and the high and low switches at great expense this works a treat never use the low any way. grateful to you my youtube friend

This is what us guys in the trade have been doing for years.Id only spend money on a new board if the henry was in excellent condition.Otherwise,its a bypass jobbie

I was apprehensive to fix it, but your video really helped make it look like a simple job... So simple, it's just opening the Henry up, and pulling the wires off the Hi/low switch, removing the "pcb" board, and plugging the 2 white wires where you removed the blue and brown wires into the power switch... watch the video, and it's very clear. Henry sends you a hug, after checking Henry's current and the engine was working, I deduced that it was the printed circuit board, but he was not sure whether to ask for it or what he should do. excellent video uncle, thank you so much.

Brilliant!! My Henry blew out a couple of weeks ago, I was ready for getting rid and replacing it, I followed this video and its back working again I needed this for my work thanks Peter you are a diamond!!
