He sure committed to the lift.. It reminds me of how someone would deadlift if you put a gun to their head and forced them to lift as heavy as possible

Honestly, your tips are really really helpful. Probably one of the most helpful channels on youtube.

Awesome video man! These tips are great. I will have to try this in my own training. I feel like my starting position on sumo pulls could definitely use some work. Your dog is awesome too👍 It’s cute how he just keeps pinned to your side the whole video😂

Watched this Wednesday morning before a pull session. Letting my arms hang and keeping the bar a little further away than normal allowed me to pull a small RDL rep PR. Hopefully these cues will finally make my sumo feel better.

Hey David, what happened to your video called "What it takes"? It was a sort of motivational video that talked about Tiger Wood's career alongside powerlifting. Did it get taken down or just blocked in certain regions? I loved re-watching it so I was sad to see it dissappear.

I couldnt even pay attention to your advice for most of the video because I was still laughing at the failed deadlift clip for the whole video

hello david i wanted to ask you a question , i'm not a very strong deadlifter and any advice coming from me is like someone who plays in the amateur league giving advice to a pro but i noticed the fact that many people who don't pull the slack correctly tend to have their hips rise into the correct position and then pull the weight off the floor, this causes an uneven lockout ( usually legs before torso) and i have noticed this exact thing in both your clips and in Yu-yu( althought it is not very noticeable) , is this because maybe you are not pulling enough slack off the bar ?

Example, should the bar be touching skin, leg hairs, or be even multiple inches away during setup? For sumo

I'm having hip flexor pain when pulling sumo. Can you do a video on how to transition from conventional to sumo?

It takes a lot reps in until your body can do it properly. Not sure how many lifting session you put into it but it took me months before I can do it myself.

I never had hip flexor issues with sumo until during the lockdown - I could only find a 5 ft bar online and not a standard 7ft bar. When I do sumo on that I consistently have hip flexor pains. I was at first confused and then I realised it’s because the bar is too short so my stance is narrower than normal and I try to compensate by bending my knees and opening my hips more than I typically do. And after I finally got back to 7ft and have space to use my normal stance, the pain instantly went again. So I think maybe try out various stance, and see if there’s some way you feel more natural.
