You gotta take boot off and spray inside with brake clean and use small brush to clean out the inside of the hole in bracket and then lubricate it with a small amount of brake grease

I just did my fronts and noticed the guide pin was stuck. I brilliantly think "aaaahhhh how bad could it be?". Well now im watching this video because theres alot of brake dust and heat. Not to mention I can see its already doing stuff to the rotor.... You know if i just addressed it like my instincts said...god damn it. Thanks for the video.

Yea my seized one snapped right in half lol. Time to bring in the core and get a new caliper 😅

Overall this was quite a good video. With a good voiceover explaining how to free up one sticking calliper pin. Compared to some that don’t explain anything. And play some god awful background music. Like Beethoven worst symphony. Surly if just one calliper pin was sticking. It makes sense to take care of both calliper pins at the same time. Surly it makes sense to lubricant both calliper pins at the same time. And check all callipers on the car as you go.

These are tight but able to be moved comparatively easily.,show me how to free up seized slides

Did you fix it? I’m in the middle of that problem right now. I even got it to turn with my impact wrench but it still won’t budge out

I was twisting the guide bolt with a ratchet whole time i just had to hit with hammer to unseize it😭now my rubber boot is gone, is it safe to drive without it

That was an easy one compared to mine. Mine is stuck seriously hard. I'm trying to figure out how to get it unstuck.

Ok this is frustrating. My pins are square and completely seized up. What then?

I literally could not remove mine with a rachet wrench shedge hammer. So i used oxygen acydeline torch to heat up the caliper. After that it loosened it up. I used a wire brush inside to get the melted rubber boot out. Cleaned the pin with a wire brush installed new boot and now the pin slides perfect. Without the torch it wouldnt budge.

I swear you borrowed my Fusion for this video 🤣 my caliper is stuck in exactly the same way, hoping this works cause I can pretty easily clean it up and I have a bottle of caliper grease that needs to get used up Major kudos :D One tip for anyone reading this in the future, if your brake pads wear unevenly (my back tires did that cause the calipers were broken) and you are trying to make do until you have enough money to get a new caliper, save your pads when you change your brakes. When you wear one down swap it with a fresher pad you have saved from last time. If you're anything like me you have one pad worn to the bone and one barely worn at all, slap in a barely worn pad for 2 fairly good pads Note: Not if they are angled, I'm talking about one pad wearing out way faster than the other, due to broken caliper

Mine wouldn't turn even with a 28 inch breaker bar. Eventually I was able to move like 3 degrees but I think the caliper bolt head was turning and not the pin.

Is it safe to drive without a rubber boot on caliper slide pin?

The rubber protects it from dirt which can cause it to seize up

How'd you get the damn thing off if the caliper bolt was stuck?

@@brianheath5091 I replied but I cant see it, so Ill reply again, I got the bolt loose after soaking it 3 times w PB Blaster. The bolt was shorter than I expected. I was able to get to my caliper ( rewind type) and I have the special tool, but its really seized up. I gotta get a new caliper, not gonna rebuild it.

I always have this problem. I lubricate the pins and after a short while I find them stuck and not moving... So what is the solution and what is your advice? Note: Silicone grease is not available in my country, so what is a good alternative?

Before adding the lubricant make sure to clean them if any old grease and dirt

I assume you need a new part and pin, if its too rusty it will get stuck again. I have had this also happen and will replace it next time.

suppose the pins should push all the way down, u leaving air inside

Dude…. Thank you I gotta keep Cherokee with about 130,000 miles on it and everything is just starting to fall apart so I’ve kinda made it into my project car
