Fixing that front spoiler fitment gap with silicone caulk!
I recently installed my eBay special front spoiler on the E46 M3 but as expected, the fitment wasn't quite right. I was left with some large panel gaps and decided to try a method I saw online to fill in gaps commonly found on fender flares and similar. Turned out pretty great!

So in the past on my aftermarket lip I used a heat gun to slowly bend it back into the correct fitment. Did it section by section and took a long time, but that would get you close enough to use VHB Double sided tape to close that gap.

it could be possible to heat it and bend it. Honestly the gaps were pretty big that it would definitely be a lot of heating and bending. I think this solution (although not as elegant) gets the job done well.

I did this to my pickup truck's fender flares too. I have a 2010 Nissan Navara (it's the "Frontier" here in Asia) and didn't like those big ass Bushwacker fender flares so I opted for a slim type. Couldn't find any after several months of searching so I used flares for the Ford Ranger 😅since it was the closest fit (but not perfect) to the Navara. There were wide gaps especially at the rear fenders so I also used black silicone caulk to fill them in.

I've got a gap in my Mitsubishi bumper and taillights that are aftermarket so I'm going to try this stuff thanks

@@HazardGarage it works for some of it but some of it's too wide of a gap. Is the aftermarket bumper in taillights I'm trying to fit together

@@jdmchickkustomz9417 the gap at some parts of my front lip were pretty large too. Maybe half an inch! lol If you cut the hole of the caulking spout slightly larger than the biggest gap so the bead ends up bigger than the gap, you should be able to get that covered. Mileage may vary of course. And also using a latex caulking might be easier than silicone as its easier to clean up and handle.

What would you recommend doing if the lip and the car color aren't black but you still wanted to seal it and look clean

1. Bro, I'm planning to install spoiler on my car i20. 2. I don't want to use scratches, drilling, clamps etc. 3. So, can a silicone be used on spoiler so as to stick on the car? 4. Will the silicone damaged car painting in coming days, months etc?

I was installing this cheap pdc sensors, but the drill was bad so I drilled a litlle bit wider hole. Sensors fit, i put litlle bit of glue, but i have like 2mm gaps. Bumper is black, could I use black silicone like you ti fill it up? What do you think bro? Thx

I wouldnt trust the silicone as a glue, but it can definitely be used to fill gaps!

How has it been holding up? I bought a similar IKON front lip from ebay and yep same fitment issues around the front center. VHB helps but its definitely not thick enough to close the gap completely. Also is it removable?

It's been holding up well! I was surprised how it even covered the half inch gaps! Just be aware....it gets messy! good masking, gloves, wet paper towels. this stuff wipes off with water before it cures so not too intimidating.

@@tnamen1307 Silicone alone wont be enough to hold the front lip. You will need to use double sided tape. I used 3M automotive trim tape. Link should be in the description. I used the black silicone to fill in the gaps and holes that the ebay front lip had after installation.

I did use 3M tape (the one recommended for autobody) but the remaining gaps due to ebay fitment is what I was fixing in this video 😅😅

Bought a similar front lip. I could tell that the fitment was going to be terrible and not to my standards. DIdn't want any caulking on my car or this cheap part on display. It's on a shelf in my garage.

yeah some people will have different tolerances for fitment. I was ok with it especially considering I was likely to probably crack it going off at the track lol
