Just ran into this problem in my 93' 240. Thanks so much for making this video! For anyone wondering how to get the auto shifter cover off (like me) lightly pry the 'PRND' cover off with a flathead which will expose two screws close to the dash.

Which junkyards in the NM area would you recommend for Volvos? I'm picking up an 87 245 that could use a better hood, driver seat frame, and the occasional widget.

Earlier cars, like our 81 had a different switch. Turning off the car with the headlamps on would turn off the headlamps only. The parking lamps stayed illuminated, as if the switch was in the number 2 position. My 90, which is a bit of an anomaly, with the switch in number 3 position when the car is turned off, all lights go out. The reason it is an anomaly is that it is a 90 with neither airbag nor daytime running lights. It is an early production car. In Canada, air bag and daytime running lights were added as a running change some time between the middle of October, 1989 and the start of production in January, 1990.

hi there! i have a 1984 240 and my problem is that the actual knob to switch brightness is spinning freely not in any locked positions so i can’t get any of my lights to work except high beams. Any ideas on where to start for fixing the problem? thanks love your channel!

Thanks! You saved me a bunch of time tracking down that relay. Now, why couldn't they have just put it beside the latching relay? Too obvious?

I have an 88 240 DL and I ran into this same problem, that white connecter has comepletey melted but I can seem to find that part anywhere please help.

Hey David, I am looking to replace the Headlight Failure relay as I believe it is the cause for my left and right brake lights not working. Do I just yank on the relay to get it to release or is there a safer way to remove this big red relay?

hey David ive got an 89 Volvo 244 GL and was wondering if you could help me find some schematics and diagrams showing which wires are where for the wiring to the charging circuit of my car i had to replace a failing alternator with a new one and now the battery light refuses to come on at all and since its part of the exciter im not getting any voltage and I tried swapping the bulb with a known good one and it still wont light up i was thinking it could be an issue with the gauge cluster but everything else is working fine any info or opinion as to what I should do next is greatly appreciated

Where did you find these headlights??

I'm looking at buying an 87 240 wagon, it has a very soft brake pedal and every now and again the brake failure light comes on. Would you know that culprit or have an idea? I was thinking they need to be bled and it has a bad master but I'm no pro.
