I love my koi pond, but it had been constant battle to keep visibility in the water during the hot summers here in Virginia Beach. My pond gets full sun most of the day which makes it even harder. My first remedy was to get a huge umbrella to shade the pond 85% of the day.
That still wasn't enough!
I had to resort to larger water changes to try to keep it under control, but that shouldn't be necessary. After a 2 week work trip to Hawaii, I came home to a soupy green pond. I couldn't see my Koi that I enjoy watching so much. I was over it.
I took a water sample, photos and pond dimension to Hampton Roads Water Gardens to see what they recommend. I had just found this pond store in the spring and purchased a large aerator and stones for the pond to help agitate it more. I also bought larger tubing to try to move more water through the filter per hour.
It wasn't enough.
I went back and asked what would clear it up and they sold me this Pondmax 3600UV that has a 24W UV bulb and a Proline Hy-Drive 2600GPH pump. I could start seeing the difference in a few hours. The next day I could see halfway to the bottom and the 2nd day I could see the bottom.
