Guys, when you change the rotors ALWAYS clean the rust from the hub, it should be super smooth. Put some antiseize too. If the hub is rusty the rotor could cause vibrations and weird things can happen
@mihalym.6876
@mihalym.6876 3 жыл бұрын
Could not agree any more. Additionally, in case of vibration problems worth to check the hubs running by a micrometer. Sometimes the hub has some wigle, ask Lexus about the tolerance. But if you have more than .05 - .08mm than definitely worth to check further. Anyway after a couple of thousand miles the truth will be unfold: if the vibration is occure again than it is not coming from the disc and the pads.

That and clean the packing oil off of the rotor. I'm sure you guys did this but a bunch of noobs will watch this video, put on a new rotor straight from the box and contaminate their pads, guaranteed.

Rusty wheel hub/disc mating plate can give enough slinging in the brake disc to make it vibrate. Had the problem on two cars also. Love the build!
@MindUrBiznss
@MindUrBiznss 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, is a very common oversight for the home-gamer. Leads to pulsation and come backs at shops. I hope this was cleaned up off camera but seeing rust through rotor around the studs isn't a good sign.
@jamest5149
@jamest5149 3 жыл бұрын
You should clean your hub matting surfaces up so they are spotless, all that corrosion can cause brake wobble and make it hard to get the disc’s off. Use a wire wheel and flap wheel on the hubs, when clean use some Permatex zinc anti seize or ceramic grease between the hub and the disc and between the disc and the wheel. 👍

The problems you describe are symptomatic of bad front lower control arm bushings. I had the shake under braking on my LS430 and it was resolved by new bushings. They are oil filled and if cracks form the oil leaks out and give you the symptoms you describe. You can see them from under the car without having to take anything off.

Loving this build👌I’d recommend inspecting the lower control arm bushings. They are a common wear point on these, and could contribute to vibration under braking loads. Also improves the steering feel slightly.
@vr6myk
@vr6myk 3 жыл бұрын
absolutely. I have one of these cars. Had to replace mine when I bought it due to a previous incident where the hub and bushing were replaced on one side. The original side was super sloppy on my 150k mile car. Some people say theirs are fine at that mileage but mine was loose and visibly had significant movement. I put new OEM ones from an IS on mine with the aluminum housing. You could also use RC GS or RCF or ISF bushings. They all fit you just have to remove the dished washer. Figs and RR Racing make upgraded ones for the track. They are generally marketed towards the IS but fit the GS and LS
@MkdMuzza
@MkdMuzza 3 жыл бұрын
@@vr6myk Good info! I've heard the IS ones would fit right in, but I wasn’t 100% sure. Did you notice any improvements/benifits from using the IS bush vs. the LS? I've got an '05 with 175kmiles and I've just replaced 90% of all the front-end suspension components. With the lower control arm bushing, it may visually look okay, but can still be sloppy.
@vr6myk
@vr6myk 3 жыл бұрын
@@MkdMuzza other than getting the slop out, no. One benefit is the bushing comes in the aluminum bracket ready to mount for almost half the price of the stock LS bushing that you have to press into the steel bracket. Also you'd have to pay to get the bushings pressed in if you don't have a press. The ISF or RCF bushings are stiffer I believe and should offer some improvement via less deflection of the bushing under braking and steering. The FIGs version is even stiffer and the RR one is another step up in reducing deflection in all directions due to its design. Improvements in steering feel, and feel under braking. Cons would be more NVH. The stock LS bushings are built for comfort.

I've always understood that final torque should be performed with full weight on wheels. Another great one guys, keep em coming- enjoyed this one with a cup of coffee and oatmeal on a snowy Colorado morning =) Cheers

Honestly these guys aren't the best. The last video they made me facepalm so hard, and they're always doing sketchy stuff. They are not mechanics. I watch the videos just to see what they do next that'll make me cringe more.

Yes, the front A Arms were tightened after raising the suspension, the rear point isn’t a flex joint so no need for it. 80% of the time consuming cumbersome work isnt shown on video

What?! You mean we ARE the best, we’ve spent decades training off of KZfaq videos and consider ourselves pros and every video we make includes every torque spec, proper installation techniques in meticulous fashion...that’s what the internet wants to watch right Cory? Or perhaps it’s all for entertainment purposes to make sure you facepalm yourself and keep coming back to watch our cringeworthy content MUAHAHA

@@speedacademy I figured that may be the case- no sense in showing the world the struggles of crawling under the car while it's on the wheel jenga towers to torque bolts you cant hardly see! Again, enjoying all the content! Thx

Hello, Do you have any ideas what to look at for a rattle on the front right when going over bumpy surfaces? I replaced the struts.

Cosmetic wise i would replace these halogen headlights bulbs with leds and have the window tinted. Can't wait to see new wheels as well.

Fresh brakes should always be broken in - you have to evenly distribute the pad material to avoid pulsation. Nice work guys LS430 is awesome

I have the 04 ls 430. The brakes are good still. However, when I run over pot holes and small holes in the ground at around 15 mph, I hear rattle coming from the front left/right area of the vehicle. Not sure if it's the brake hardware or suspension components in the front (ie. Front strut bar or strut mount). Also, when I step on the brake lightly, the rattle does not happen. Not sure what is up?

Did you keep the default 12k Front/8k Rear spring rates? I'm about to purchase the FA 500 Series coilovers for my LS but am curious as to what you guy's used.
