We do a routine inspection for a 2005 Lexus LS430 but we find more problems on this Lexus than what it came in for which is a coolant leak and a timing belt job.
Folks we are trying out new style video for you today. I opened a new shop back in June and we service cars every day. If you are a regular viewer and you enjoy watching our day to day diagnosis and repair videos comment down below so we know that you're interested in the day to day videos and we'll film more of these videos.
This Lexus LS430 came in for a timing belt and motor mount replacement but it also has a coolant leak and noises coming from the engine. We diagnose the issues and inspect the car to see what else it needs and make recommendations to the owner.

All known common maintenance here! I've got an 02. Rebuilt my entire front end about 6 months ago. Did the Y-Pipe past the cats a couple years ago, if you have one of these cars and have not yet removed the shielding in that area, do so, water gets in and rots out the exhaust. I would not be happy with the job that was done on the exhaust if this were my LS. It's time for a Timing Belt and Valve Cover gaskets for me too; been wondering how tough a job valve covers will be. My radiator blew up in the exact same spot! I'm hoping I can get another 150k out of this car. :)

I'm five minutes in and I knew already at two minutes in it was going to be a pleasure. Smart of you there knowing the mic was going to be a problem being low and then cut to after it being moved. Of course Eros getting in could be a little smoother but that's neither here nor there. It will get better. Maybe pause until after he gets in. Customer likely changed the hood struts. The ES300 in the fleet of ours with your favorite 1MZ is falling down now when in the summer. One must wonder if the customer thinks the suspension noise is motor mounts or was told that. And now he will still have the problem after the change.. too bad.

I too have one of these. Out of all modern cars, it feels the most like an old big Benz. The car feels weighty and has that satisfying silky feel like the controls and movement are on ball bearings damped in oil. I had to change the radiator and chose the Denso as its surprisingly inexpensive. There’s also a choice of radiator. Towing or non-towing. I had visions that the towing radiator is mounted on a U haul.

Maintaining our "fleet" of Corollas (2020, 2008 and daughter's 2007) I like the idea of watching pre repair inspection. BTW, Yesterday I was unable to open the trunk on our 2008, the lock was rotate and driver's side lever had no tension on it. Figured it was corrosion here in NH but just for fun checked out KZfaq videos. Turns out the problem was valet mode and a few squirts of WD40 into the lock fixed the problem. No need to pop the rear seats and crawl into the trunk. Great work, love the channel.

Thanks! GREAT to SEE the BIG Picture and hear your narrative. Most appreciative that you have a camera person to help "enlighten" us as YOU do your thing. "Overview" shots of your shop ... and the local area ... are interesting, entertaining and educational. As for "other" things, perhaps the owner is confusing that "CAT Noise" with "motor mount"? And that cracked windshield? hmmm. I do a lot of DIY / Preventive Maintenance work on my 2003 RX300. BUT I also have work that I either want or need to send to a shop. e.g. Windshield & suspension items like shocks wheel bearings and tires, etc. I am happy to pay people like you ... and I also have empathy for the honest and competent mechanics out there who do good work. Problem is the owners who are less than forthcoming or honest and who force (usually poorly-trained) "mechanics" to play "BEAT-THE-CLOCK to make a living. Some indicators are ... as you pointed out ... zip ties and wrong fasteners and "Shortcuts" all over the place on those bottom covers. Since YOU own the shop, AND YOU specialize in Toyota / Lexus Vehicles ... YOU are able and motivated to keep things like "custom fasteners" in stock and at hand. And last, but not least: I commend you for the Radiator / Timing belt savings for your customer! I would bet that the AVERAGE dealer or typical shop owner would charge "full boat" for that radiator replacement; most non-diyers would have no idea of the "overcharge" for the "extra labor" for that exploded radiator.
